This is great. I love the topic of evidence for Jesus Christ and Christianity, moreover defending Christianity. Thanks for all your work!

I've heard some say that the Gospels were written 250 years after the events. Forgetting cave 7 at Qumran has fragments of Mark and II Timothy - essentially the beginning and end of the written records - buried AD 54 and documented sealed by Rome AD 68.

This is the first I have heard about any part of the New Testament being found at Qumran. Why doesn't everyone who talks about a complete copy of Isaiah mention that?
How can something burried in 54 AD have been sealed by the Romans fourteen years later?
Despite the flaws in what you say, there IS ample evidence of most of the New Testament having been written in the first century.
Among other things, the Gospels had to have taken time to reach a Pagan critic of Christianity. His written criticism of parts of the New Testament, which is lost, then must have taken time to reach a Christian theologian whose response we do have. Late 1st century or very early 2nd. The Gospels were written in the 1st century, and some of Paul's epistles only a few years after the Resurrection.
One of my weaknesses is a failure to remember names and dates very well, hence my vagueness.

I really appreciate this. I am Christian but I have struggled with the fact I can see so much archeological evidence of the old testament verses very little evidence for the new testament.

I witnessed an attempted murder in Dublin where I'm from in 2016. I'll never forget that. It was evil in the flesh. I can even say the experience changed me. I know Jesus' disciples would not have forgotten what happened in their lives regarding Jesus. Thank you both for this. As ever a very interesting conversation.

The "evidence" they want, but would still reject; a picture of God on His throne, surrounded by His angels shouting for joy as He is in the process of creating something from nothing

There really is so much evidence to show that Jesus is who He said He was and that the Bible is reliable. To hear the evidence and still reject it can only be through a determination NOT to believe.
There is much to be said about having the humility to be teachable and to admit you don't know it all.
Pride says 'I know better' and will always reinterpret any evidence to fit their own narrative.
Equally as prevalent in this day and age is the attitude of disinterest - 'there might be a God, but we can't know'. This type of person won't even bother looking at the evidence because they have 'more fun or interesting things to do'

It helps me to know this was written early, and not an invention by the RC Church to manipulate and make merchandise of the gospel.

That "RC Church" IS the Church, whether you like it or not.

Nearly 60 years ago I had an interview to gain admission to Medical College. I can remember almost every word of that interview. What cannot be open to doubt is that the dean offered me a place.

Living water or no, people won't drink it till they know they are thirsty. The knowledge of desease ie sin comes before the cure ie Jesus

And why would the Jews have made it up, or a group of people? The disciples were not rich men and the Jews persecuted him. Plus it was the idea of a new religion
