🚄 INFORMATION KEY
Train Numbers - e.g. 43032 or 800110 - These are train numbers which are specific to that train. No trains can be numbered the same. Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. Multiple Units are 6 digit numbers where the first three numbers are the class of train e.g. 390154 would be a class 390. Click Here to learn more

I like Stratford station and it’s a good station for train spotting.
@@AndrewG1989 If you can visit on a weekday, you will see a lot of freight although it is mostly container traffic. Not to mention that this is now the UK's busiest station (by passenger numbers)

Does the class 91 still run now?
It always amazes me how that class 745 can get up to speed so quickly
But I wish they weren't the flirt 160 (they run at 160 kph) but flirt 200 units (they run at 200 kph) so that they were actually "intercity" trains
Here in Germany its completely normal for an electric multiple unit train to accelerate that fast

The acceleration of those Greater Anglia FLIRTs are still mindblowing! Great mix of classic and new power, and the shade showcases their liveries just perfectly. Excellent work as always!
The beauty of modern 3 phase AC Motors with Regen Brakes. It’s also amazing how quick they can stop if needed!!!
YES STRATFORD REGIONAL! One we have wanted for a long time. I already know this is going to be a great video. Has amazing variety
Stratford should be renamed as Stratford Interchange as it’s got good interchange with the London Underground, London Overground, Docklands Light Railway, TfL Rail (Elizabeth Line) and buses. And walking distance to Westfield shopping centre, Queen Elizabeth II Park and of course Stratford International railway station.
Plus Greater Anglia’s Class 720s are now becoming more popular as they are replacing the Class 317 and Class 321. And I’ve noticed new overhead wires as well that are lot better than the older ones.
Its prob gonna be a bit confusing as there is Stratford International which is just a few minutes away

It seems like every train, given that they’re commuter trains, Can you get up to speed really quickly and appear so fast in this video
The 720s are REALLY fast accelerating for 10car trains (although not the fastest, thats held by 331s) Stratford is a little odd as an interchange since it has passing trains as well. Thanks Ben 😃
They pack serious power nowadays.
the class 745s are intercity units but still boast impressive acceleration.

I was a secondman based at Stratford in 1979. I can't believe how much has changed. There were railways sidings everywhere now there are buildings.

Stratford is a major multi-level interchange station serving the district of Stratford and the mixed-use development known as Stratford City, in the London Borough of Newham, east London. It is served by the London Underground, London Overground, Docklands Light Railway (DLR) and is also a National Rail station on the West Anglia Main Line and the Great Eastern Main Line, 4 miles 3 chains (6.5 km) from Liverpool Street. It is the busiest station on the Tube network that is not located in Travelcard Zone 1. It is located in Zones 2/3 and is the UK’s most used station in 2020/21.
On the Underground, it is a through-station on the Central line between Mile End and Leyton, and it is the eastern terminus of the Jubilee line following West Ham. On the DLR it is a terminus for some trains and for others it is a through-station between Stratford High Street and Stratford International. On the Overground it is the terminus of the North London Line following Hackney Wick; on the mainline it is served by TfL Rail stopping "metro" services between Liverpool Street and Shenfield and by medium- and longer-distance services operated by Greater Anglia to and from numerous destinations in the East of England. There are also limited off-peak services operated by c2c connecting to the London, Tilbury and Southend line to Shoeburyness. In the future, the TfL Rail service will be re-branded as the Elizabeth line as part of the Crossrail project, with those services extended beyond Liverpool Street to Reading and Heathrow Airport.
The station was opened in 1839 by the Eastern Counties Railway. Today it is owned by Network Rail and is in Travelcard zone 2/3. To distinguish it from Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire it is sometimes referred to as Stratford (London), or as Stratford Regional to differentiate it from Stratford International, which is some 400 yards (370 m) to the north. Stratford served as a key travel hub for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games held in London. By the most recent National Rail entry and exit figures, it is the busiest station in Britain.

What an incredible junction station this is by the looks of it. It is a shame that the 321 and 322 units are on 'borrowed time' before they end up in train heaven.

Nice video! Stadler Flirt and Bombardier Aventra (since January 2021 = Alstom Aventra) trains are very delicious, hot and nice! I am very happy they also serve InterCity trainlines, because they are originally for local and slow train services with about more stops.
Southenderners: Friendship ended with Class 321 & 357 now it begins with Clas 720 both c2c and greater aniglia use the 720

Great activity at this station
Certainly is! On weekdays you even get a fair amount of container traffic as well. Highly recommend visiting if your in the area. For London, it’s also one of the more relaxed major stations for trainspotters too.

They should do a revamp on platform 9/10 so it it’s covered over more. Not hardly anywhere you can stand on those platforms without getting soaked when it’s raining. Nice to see there are still some class 321s going atm aswell

Great video mate. All the Greater Anglia 379s are gone and I think they'll move to Great Northern, no TFL Rail and no freight trains
I think you’re right. I have heard that Great Northern are inheriting the Class 379s.
The irony is that at the time of filming, I assumed that the 317s would go first so I was slighly frustrated by them both being 379s. As it turns out, it was the best result 😃 Weekends are always a bit of a gamble for freight.

Stratford station was the busiest railway station in 2020 - 2021, with entries/exits of 13.985 million passengers. St Pancras came in at number 13, with entries/exits of 6.363 million passengers.
This is 100% less than Stratford, and Eurostar still snub Stratford as a recognised international station. I've haven't even started with the busiest tube stations rankings...

Hello! I filmed at Romford in 2020 prior to the new trains entering service, you can watch it here: th-cam.com/video/4cA6BTDEj8M/w-d-xo.html The problem with Romford now is that there has been a platform edge gate added to the fast lines which makes it difficult to film.

Seems as though this is the busiest station that is not a terminus point for National Rail. (The underground and DLR are not included)
It appears you may have captured 321333 on her last day in service. Withdrawn by 20/12/21 and left GA metals late in January.

What is the best platform to do trainspotting at Stratford station?
Either North End of Platform 10, 10A or South End of platform 9. There isn’t really an ideal place to catch everything so you’ll end up running around if you do! Hope this helps 😃

Weekends are busier than usual because of the C2C diversions but there is less freight.

If they have a pantograph or the tracks have a 3rd rail means it's electric or you can just listen too the train sounds

Edit: i know this video was filmed last year, but maybe filming them further along the line might be an idea. Did some spotting at Maryland and the 720s and especially the 745s are really starting to wind it up by then, but the views for filming are not the best because of the fencing blocking platforms 3 and 4.
Thanks Gerais Wa Iya, I will definately look into some of the stations further along this line. Gidea Park is a good one but, as you said, the fencing is an issue. Even Romford where I filmed in 2020 now has fences :(

@@collectivelyimprovingtrans2460 Maybe it was fast earlier but caught up with a passenger? I once saw a 345 at P5 and another RIGHT behind it at a red signal at the rear of platform, so trains do get close.

Sorry guys, I’ve been watching your conversation 😉. I’m a fan of the 321s but it depends what your comparing; the 720s are sooo much better in terms of accessibility and features but are worse in some areas such as motor sounds and livery variety. The 357s are nearly 20 years old as well!
Who else thinks the 379 are a better train over the 720
