I purchased one and it came in a couple of weeks ago. The guitar had a few issues that weren't hard to correct. The neck actually had a back-bow and I had to loosen the truss rod quite a bit to correct. The frets were leveled but were not polished and quite a bit of gritty feel to them. I polished them up with 1200 grit sandpaper and semi-chrome polish. the action was set very low and the nut had some problems with the slots not being properly cut. The intonation was off as well. An hour's worth of setup addressed the issues and I'm quite satisfied with it now...
Hi Randy…thanks so much for watching and commenting. As we know, “most” guitars bought on-line will more than likely require at least a minimal setup. These come direct from the manufacturer’s plant so no middleman (like you would find at your local guitar shop) to go over them. Certainly some of the price you are saving by ordering direct! Mine however, came just as you see it in this video. I did no setup at all on mine…direct from the box and still with the factory strings as well! I appreciate your stopping into the channel and sharing your thoughts! Congrats on yours and thanks again! 🎸👍
@@JimmyStewart1 One thing that I have noticed after a few weeks is that the guitar balances more headstock heavy than I prefer, but it's not a serious issue. Have you noticed the same?
@@exmailman1 Haven’t really noticed it as I have only used it in the studio sitting down. I did strap it up (both of them I have actually) and didn’t really notice any excessive neck dive on either.
Thanks so very much…Yes, the have produced some very nice, affordable guitars in the past number of years! Thanks so much for dropping in and glad to hear you enjoyed the “little outro”….🎸👍
Hi Jimmy, as always a great video with a beautiful guitar at a great price (the intro was like from PF), I warmly greet you and I look forward to the next video. Pavel CZ.👍👍👍🎸
If you're a righty and live in the lower 48, any of the Fireflys that fit your style are worth it! Neat update, Jimmy and do ask them to send any spares to Amazon up north!
Oh yes…I forgot to mention the southpaws out there as well…☹️ Hopefully we can get some more Firefly’s up to our Northern friends again….appreciate your stopping in as always my 🇨🇦 friend….much thanks! 🎸👍
I have both the HB and FF version of this guitar and happy with both but the HB has one major flaw in my opinion, the weight, mine is 10.3 pounds and way to heavy for me. The FF .also has a nicer looking binding..
Hi lilymae…thanks so much for watching and commenting. Yeah, I meant to mention in this video that the HB model is an Ash body…they tend to be very heavy where the FF is a mahogany body. Yes, the HB does not have the tortoise shell type binding either…I honestly believe the FF is a much nicer looking version that matches the H.S. Anderson more, also includes the SS frets and is less expensive as well!! Thanks again for stopping into the channel and sharing! Much appreciated! 🎸👍

@@benwright6330 The Guitars Garden site is working just fine on my end….https:/ /www.guitarsgarden.com The MadCat (as other models from FF) go in and out of stock as they sell out. Hi Jimmy, I wrote to Guitars Garden to ask if they will be getting any more of their acoustic electrics and if not, could I get on a notification list.. I have one but wish to buy another one. They didn't answer my email. Any idea how I can contact them? Thanks! Shalom/gw. PS. I already have two MadCats 😊
The folks at customer service will not have any information on what models are coming and when they will be available unfortunately. Firefly Guitars has always been pretty “tight lipped” as to when new releases will be available. Once they ship from China, they get received and inventoried at their distribution warehouse in CA…then they will post the new batches. They did say that the were doing another batch of the Thinline acoustic/electric and those should be here shortly. Keep your eyes on their web site, and of course I give info as well when I know and can! We should be seeing those pretty soon…lots of stuff heading this way in June! 🎸👍
@JimmyStewart1 Thanks Jimmy. Two years ago my opthomologist saved my eyesight. I always show him my latest guitar when I visit. I want to see the look on his face, when at the end of my visit, he tells me not to forget my guitar. And I tell him, that's not my guitar, "That's YOUR guitar." Shalom/gw
