  • This GEM workstation didn't sound particularly good when I wanted to use it. So I had to adjust the A/D converters on it and at the same time take a look inside.
I haven't made any music with it yet so you will have to wait a while to hear what the unit it capable of doing.
The music that accompanies this video is "It's the things you do" which is a song originally recorded by the boy-band Five (sometimes spelled "5ive" but according to Weird Al Yankovic you are not supposed to spell using numbers unless you're seven or your name is Prince).
I used these musical items for the production: Bass: Elka EM-44, Chords: Roland JX-8P, Piano: Roland D-20, Melody: Korg Poly-800, Rhythm: BOSS DR-202.

You always have good, specific video contributions, useful for those who understand electronics a little (like me, for example).
Thanks to you I made a pedal board for Solton MS50.
I am currently considering getting a GEM WS2 which has no sound. First I'll check if it's on the headphones, then it's no problem...
    Anyway, thank you very much.
P.S. It's not a great idea to buy a new one, under warranty... but to breathe life into something that even the services don't work anymore!
All the best, from Belgrade, Dusan.

It surprises me that it was this simple. At first I thought you where joking about the MSB and LSB. Just by chance I bought a SX3 for a few bucks yesterday. It is a similar, somewhat later, home keyboard style instrument but with the S-series synthesis system. I bought it because you can program your own styles on it and I have wanted to experiment a bit with that for a long time. The preset styles are hoever already great because they sound very convincing. It's big fun to take a certain style, say big band, and then play stuff no big band arranger in his right mind would ever compose. :-)

I have just acquired a GEM WS1 and it does not work properly. Do you happen to have the User Manual or Service Manual in electronic format that you can send to me, please? Thank you. Take Care, Stay Healthy, Be Safe!

Not for the WS1. There is a users manual at manualslib.com - this was also where I got the manual for my WS2.
