I just want to appreciate the dinner guests' acting; that is definitely the expression you'd wear when your host is goes crazy and his wife makes you not draw attention to it
Jodu - Shakespeare wrote in ghosts to prove to the audience that Macbeth had yielded to evil. Very simple world view of those times: if you do bad things you will face evil consequences. If the king is evil, the world falls apart.
does anyone else feel like the wine glass that is knocked over is important. All of the wine glasses have white wine it in apart from one which has red wine in it and the red wine glass is knocked over. I think this is important because the red wine could be something like blood and the white wine could represent the innocence of the guests (and the red wine glass doesn't get knocked over until Banquo's ghost nears it)

I played Banquo in a parody Macbeth play. It was a lot of fun, but I felt bad for yelling at the guy who played Macbeth, who was a close friend of mine. xD
Jillybean711 That’s acting. You have to be committed to your role. As long as your friend understands that it is not you yelling at him, and that you are just doing your job, then it’s all good.
We were reading the play in English 2 class, I screamed out the name of the Scottish play at lunch when we were heading back to class. The following week of Thanksgiving break, I was sick the entire time.
Why is this my history lesson of all things. I rewatch it then I hear the scream at 3:16 and everything leaves my brain that I was thinking about. You’d think I could skip it but no
I remember watching this the first time in English class, and the moment at 0:17, where you can just see Banquos ghost behind Lady M for that split second shot is just ddsjakjehdhrh
Any man who has been confined to Forward Ops Base and Bunker may eventually succumb to hallucinations, although perhaps not as terrifying as what was shown here.
A little overdone in the histrionic department but I liked having Banquo's ghost walk across the table. Lady Macbeth's dress was appalling. The director was her husband - why on earth did he have her falling out of the top of that dress?
I didn’t think the banquet was very dull and quiet when I read the play. But I think it makes sense why it felt so awkward because Macbeth starts having visions of Banquo’s ghost
+Precious Leaman Banquo was his right hand, his best friend, who came back for revenge. When you put yourself in his place, I'd be much more disturbed too.
Macbeth isn't supposed to be wearing a tuxedo and Lady Macbeth a dress, this is full of anachronisms and what is the name of actress that plays Lady Macbeth?
The important thing is the text. The costumes are whatever the director wants. Shakespeare wrote this 400 years later. Actors in his time would have been wearing the 'wrong' costumes too.
connor3067 People have made interpretations similar to that which you can check if you want. But the language of Shakespeare is the whole point of what makes his plays so unique in the first place. It's a little like how comic book films are often highly regarded if they remain faithful to source material. People enjoy watching interpretations of Shakespeare like this, to see how well the language itself can work within a new context or style. Change or modernise the language itself, and it's no longer a Shakespeare play/film, more like a simplified adaptation which quite often isn't nearly as interesting to watch or listen to.
i came here for my english lesson but stayed here for the scream
same, at 3:21
I love Macbeth is having an absolute meltdown and Lady Macbeth is just like "don't worry guys lol. he does this all the time"
What a queen 😂
"He's just a little autistic."

Patrick Stewart's performance here was insane.
Harris Had me dying laughing the entire time. 😂😂
It went insaneo style
Macbeth is clearly suffering from PTSD. Even then they must of understood it. Amazing scene

@@lisakilmer2667 as a student currently studying Shakespeare, thank you for this information
It is far more likely supposed to be seen as a hallucination rather than a ghost.

I just thought it was Macbeth knocking it over in shock
Shannon Cambridge, Ah, a fellow soul who has been cursed by the "Honors English" phenomena and conditioned to look for symbolism in every detail of everything...

okay but like our teacher showed us this in class, and honestly if the headteacher came in she would have thought we were on crack hahahahahah
This scene is golden
Eventhought he never plan to kill Duncan but the fact that he did so, both Duncan and Banquo should have tormented Macbeth.
Precious Leaman who knew the old man had so much blood in him...
I loved it when MacBeth said it's MacBethin time and MacBethed all over the place
I’m doing a Shakespeare play in my class and this is way different than my play

Precious Leaman Because MacBeth was the one who planned to kill Banquo.

epic
Macbeth isn't supposed to be wearing a tuxedo and Lady Macbeth a dress, this is full of anachronisms and what is the name of actress that plays Lady Macbeth?
It's meant to be set in the twentieth century.
Kate Fleetwood plays Lady Macbeth.
It's set during the war. They changed the settings but not the dialogue. The men are soldiers. Macbeth is an army General
The important thing is the text. The costumes are whatever the director wants. Shakespeare wrote this 400 years later. Actors in his time would have been wearing the 'wrong' costumes too.
