I lived in China for about 6 years, there is a big gap between racism and curiosity. I met a man on a train once who asked me why I was "black" and how I got to be "black". I found the question quite intriguing so I continued to have a conversation with the man. Turns out this was his first time actually meeting a person of African descent and found out it was all curiosity with no ill intent. I personally had a hard time telling people apart my first year, let alone where they were from. That Asian girl was clout chasing on a major and the fact that she went through that video and decided it was a good idea to post that video, with the risk of taking food out of that driver's family's mouth, says it all. I'm happy people called her out for it.

It used to be that, if someone said something you found offensive, you would just tell them that what they said was rude, they would apologize, or not, and you would move on with your day.
This had transformed into culturally approved bullying for the slightest perception of “wrong speak”.
Thicker skins were a good thing.

To address the first video: I am Asian (half Filipino and half Nepalese, born in Hong Kong), and people tend to guess where I am from. From tell me I look Japanese or Chinese and some even thought I was Korean. I don't find it at all offensive when they mistake me for being from those countries, I actually tend to laugh it off. Remember these people are not telepathic or are "ethnic experts" - they don't know where we are from and may mistake us from being from another Asian country (because YES, we do share some, perhaps facial, similarities). People are able to tell when someone is trying to be offensive (e.g. when they try to make fun of you e.t.c.) This ain't one of them.
I actually have a funny story to tell. There was this guy who went to the same martial arts club as me. He told me that he is sure I am Filipino. I was suprised and asked him how he knew. He told me because I wear Jordans XD and that Filipinos love their Jordans. I actually laughed hard because of that. People tend to observe others and their characteristics in order to understand them, and then try to apply that knowledge. If they get it wrong its not the end of the world. Correct them and have with it. Don't try play victim because it looks silly.

Another thing I had before was in my highschool choir, we had a Christmas performance at a hotel, if I remember correctly. One of the older ladies in the audience asked after the performance where I was from, since at the time especially I had my hair at a little over shoulder length. I simply told her I was from around town; American. Got another "Oh!" there.
My mom being a Filipina and my dad being "white", I turned out with brown/olive skin and brown hair. Lots of people thought I was Mexican or Latin American sometimes Native American in my area but rarely was some variety of Asian considered.

It was never her intention to get extremely triggered by basically nothing. It was also never her intention to record her conversation with the uber driver. It was also, also never her intention to put her own stupid commentary on the video. It was also, also, also never her intention to post the video for everybody to see but hey, shit happens, I guess.

Imagine if she asked a person with an Eastern European name if they were Polish and they started fake crying and saying "my parents are actually Lithuanian, it's very insulting that you think we're all the same and i don't feel comfortable in your presence" i doubt she'd feel half as bad as she's trying to make this guy feel.

The sad thing is that the Vietnamese are famous for not being victims. They built up from nothing after the war, and so did the refugees, and they have been doing great. This girl's grandparents would no doubt be dismayed at what a snowflake she turned out to be.

The truth is that she loves it when this happens and this didn't upset her at all. You could tell part way through that she kind of regretted confronting him but she had to play the victim role all the way through. If she had no phone on her this confrontation would never have happened.
