  • PHOLA & MOHLA CHEYPO (Male & Female linage god invoking ceremony)
In Sikkimese Bhutia Community one the important event is invoking male & female linage god which is also known as PHOLE MHOLHA CHEYPO by experienced person. During this period bride and bridegroom are introduced to family’s linage god and the blessing is sought for successful married life. Basically invoking Phola & Mohla connects us to the roots where we belong.
Invoking ceremony starts with offering of aromatic smoke (Sang) with prayers as :
Yap appa thenpay Phola (Male linage god followed by the father)
Yum ama thenpay mohla (female linage god followed by the mother)
Jhepay rong ghe tenpay kee lha dhong Soglaha ( Birth deity & Life Deity followed by self)

Tibetans in India call this alcoholic drink "Pahee" simply because the PVC pipe was used as a container to hold the drinks. The straw to suck the drink is also a plastic tiny pipe. The most common straw is bamboo. But in Sikkim and in Nepal where there are more elaborately made containers are made as you can see in this video.

This is purely a Sikkimese tradition. For your information that is not PVC pipe it made of pure wood and straw is made of fine bamboo. We called it "Sherden Pipe" and the language for invocations is Lhokyeth.
