Clause, thank you for making these lessons. They are noticably increasing my speed, dexterity, and overall knowledge of the fretboard. I'm loving it. I am really into Buckethead and I'm wondering if you have any particular lessons you can recommend to maybe help me in the right area. Thanks again.
This guy looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Agent Smith had a love child and is bringing great music from the future.......great video and lesson by the way..Subscribed !
do you want millions of views? and subs? let me tell you what we want. 100's or do by 20 lol riffs of 80's rock songs from Motley to kiss and all in between you know them all. play just the main parts and put the freaken tabs on screen so we can actual learn chords etc... in a song that we know in a context that's way more fun. that way we learn and it's fast and easy. instead of a bunch of guitar theory and put your finger here and put that finguer there, this is in a/b sharp 13 and 6th notes and a half inteval going to the what the heck ever omg THAT would be best. there are not enough youtubers doing that on youtube.
Very nice! But i have a question: How do you hold the pick and what thickness is it? I always get stuck on the strings with the pick. In your case it looks as if you are just stroking the strings very gently. Thanks!
"They sweep pick, sweep pick, sweep pick, then do some alternate picking, then back to sweep picking". I listen to tech death metal, so this formula was all I knew XD
Excellent point, taking wider farther stretches is harder and requires brain power.I learned fingerstyle,,later shred, but use thumbpick. Looking forward to trying your techniques.
As a teacher/coach - I clearly recognize how great a teacher this guy is - as good as any online without a doubt - he explains the mental as well as physical requirements to effective improvement, whether it be another sport or guitar playing !!
I have your modal mastery system and I love it. The problem is the printouts. Please make the 7 modes into a book in the same way you do for the advanced modes pdf. Thank you!
I'm handicapped so its hard to buy new or basically good Gear ! I have always wanted a Charvel like your's since the 80's . But could never afford one . If you have one that needs some work done I have most basic skills and wouldn't care if it was ugly , Guitar playing is about feel so if you have one sitting in a closet you don't really use I would love to have it just being Honest !
I have always had trouble with arpeggios and sweep picking. Now that I have watched this video, I am confident that I would be able to do these properly.
Hi Claus, any tips for making upsweeps feel as smooth as downsweeps? Upsweeps always feel “bouncier” to me. I recall you don’t like having to change pick slant or angle. Thanks!
Just practice em man.....they feel bouncier because u need to practice picking depth. Ur pick is going in to deep past the string on upstroked because u havent practiced them as much
Oops, I had Claus on 1.25 speed and said to myself "he's gotten faster......there is no way I'm going to hit that speed". Then I realized I had left the video on a bit fast from the previous one. Now this mistake might have actually made it a bit easier to play when I was able to let myself off the hook. Maybe watching something too fast could be a mental trick, a technique to let you relax a bit and hit the target easier.
When demonstrating the bits of examples (in the first 4 min), I would have appreciated it if you slow down just a little bit... I get it that those are just "glances", still, they would be way more enjoyable to behold; consume; take in... this way they all came out rushed and mushy... Either way, great ideas all around. Thanks
Interesting thing happened practicing the sweep technique. I played it most of the day and saw fairly quick progress. Then all of a sudden I hit a wall and started getting worse realizing my right hand started to drift back into alternate picking messing everything up for a minute. :)
That's a very good and useful lesson! Sorry for the not related question: could you please tell me what Charvel is that? And the name of the colour, thanks. Don't know very good all the Charvel models and I'm "studying"...
I love Charvel's have for Decades but his is Exceptional looking no loud colors which there's nothing wrong with loud colored guitars but his has a look of Class !! Like if you played it you would instantly be better , and I have been playing 35 yrs . When I look online at the Charvel San Dimas models which I think that's what his is ? I don't see the Tobacco Burst or Sunburst color of his ? Wonder if it was Special made ?? Its one the most Beautiful Guitars I have ever seen .
To me, most of that fast picking is like a person who can speak real fast in a monotone voice. It get's very boring very fast. I will never be a fast boring talker or a fast picking boring player.
