Hellish Quart is a historical fighting game about sword dueling, in which the blades really clash using physics, and the characters use motion captured fencing techniques. I wish there were more games with the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth setting.
It's a really interesting part of history
Check Mount and Blade With Fire and Sword, old game, but good one nonetheless
@@muhamadsayyidabidin3906 i bought it to my friend because of it's cheap price. He ended up loving the commander mode and making firing lines of muskets. It also had decent dueling but i never learned to use any other blocking settings expect automatic.
@@mrzipper0509 yeah, the fighting move is a bit 'flashy flashy', exposing a lot of your body, but compared to other rpg where the fighting is totally exaggerated, it's good enough. Still in another M&B, warband, you could put mod which some had pretty decent fighting techniques that actually look accurate enough (like when swinging and stabbing using sword, your shieds actually covering your body whereas in native your body is completely exposed) etc.
don't forget about cossacs.
@@TREMOR-tx9mb That goes without saying because cossacks lived in the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and were its border defence against Tatars and Muscovites.
Track 2 has a Bulgarian folk theme. The lady sings about saddling the lame donkey. It fits the theme really well. Much appreciated ! It's going to be a great game !

Who is who? I'm guessing Marie is the landsknecht, Gedeon the cossack, Jacek the hussar and Barabaz the ulan.
And the tavern owner says: "Today is Saturday, the tavern is closed."
@@ricardoaguayo6355 Barabaz is Sich Cossack or Crimean Tatar. They wore such hairstyles and their skin color was darker than that of the Slavs. And the name sounds like Turkish.

All I can say is that Skorupa can COMPOSE! I wish we had the translated lyrics for the soundtrack.

I love how in the intro there is a guy just sitting down taking a swig on a beer. Shows the creator of the game has spent many hours around senior fencers.

Loving the progress and been following for a long while, I'm incredibly excited for this very unique fighting game. I see the introduction of slow mo on fatal hit here, but I think that de-emphasises the quick nature of duels and does a disservice to the gameplay. please consider limiting the frequency this happens, similar to how tekken 7 handles this, so that the effect works to enhance close matches rather than detract from them all, thank you very much :)
I totally get what you're saying. Maybe it should occur when this is your first strike and you didn't touch the opponent's blade and it ended the fight. Kind of opposite of a close match. Single, clean, perfect strike. And an option to turn it off of course.

Expecting more on sztuka krzyżowa in this game, which is scarcely practiced among our local fencing circle. Hard to find an opponent using the same technique, compared to western styles of saber fencing.

Btw, It was nice to see “Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks” - not many people remember that piece of art even in Russia.
Almost 20 years ago, when my dad bought a PC, among other video games it had the video game cossacks:europan wars, a real time strategy set in the 17th and 18th century. That painting is displayed prominently in the game
Crushes bones with Fokos, is my favorite line.

This game is awesome sounds, music, especially the clapping of swords when you approach the guy against it, and even that clinking sound is awesome. If it comes out, I will definitely buy

Do you plan on adding more characters/weapons later on? Another rapierist, for example, using a different style (Spanish Destreza maybe? Ok, maybe not the best fit for the setting but it would be cool) or a rapier and dagger. Keep up the good work, is looking great!

"Track 2" and "Track 3" are the best
Track 1 and track 5 are great too.They are slightly simpler versions of 2 and 3, I honestly think adding too much spoils a music a bit. Track 4 however... Like, it would be nice in an rpg during a sneaking sequence, but it just doesn't fit...
EDIT: Well 4 is neat rght at the end, but it lacks otherwise.

that character selection screen gives off a subtle Diablo II vibe, and that makes it look unique and powerful among generic select-a-portrait ones that are found in every other game ever
It sounds like the ladies from Laboratorium Pieśni contributed to the Track 3. I can easily tell. They give me shivers. Every time!
I'm finding Marie to be a quite difficult character to play as. Because of how tender the french girl is and of how she holds her guard - she often can't stop the blow, so you basically are forced to dodging. And I often require 2-3 hits to win a round - so the damage she does is quite low. The only positive thing I've found, at least for now, since my mastery level is low at the moment: thrusts have a good chance of going through your opponent's guard.
her long guard is a worse defense stance to lure unaware opponents in, use different range stabs too (:
*for controller that'd be B for a short stab, x for a standing stab I think and Y+forward the longest reach stab, use the sweeping (and sidestepping) blade cuts to gain space again
Of all the characters there, I'm digging the guy chilling with a drink.

@@Abudzin Thought the authenticity might be a problem. Most manuals and records of jannisseries were destroyed by Ottomans and we know that they fancied muskets, javelins and shortswords over longswords or sabers.
I really want to see a janissary but also wonder what will be his fighting style.
@@subutaynoyan5372 if he were to wield a kilij/kiliç, I assume his fighting style would be similar to the cossack.
@@Abudzin But then, what's the point of having such a guy? I mean, you can make a very quick fighter because jannissaries were lightly armored fighters but all characters are that way too.

A Crimean Tatar character would make sense
Tatar would make a lot of sense, considering you could find them in different part of the Commonwealth, but a Turk would make as much sense as a Spanish female swordfighter that is already there. The only thing is that Tatar would probably be another guy with a sabre, which I have nothing against, but they may go for nations with more different weapons (althoug I don't know if there are that many more options which are within sensible geographical proximity).

@@MrDibara I don't know, I think you can see her name in one of the videos and it could be French I think. But I saw somewhere some info abaout a Swedish person and I thought that it could be her. But it would make sense for there to be more than one Western rapier fighter.
