He was a guitar monster then. He never got the recognition that the British counterparts did. I doubt any of them could play what Ted was doing back then.
I've seen Ted in '73 @ the Allen Park Civic Arena in Allen Park Michigan. He was wearing a loin cloth & not much more & he climbed his amp & jumped off while playing. He tore it up.
That's funny I seen him do that exact same stunt back in 1969 Too much. I seen him on the steps of the Detroit library I've always been a huge fan. He is a hell of a rock guitarist underrated I think. :) Peace
@@Spikefade You are wrong. Maybe it didn't get noticed until that appeared on the album. But I saw it when he played with the original Amboy Dukes as I had posted. You see, I'm a fan before he ever had a hit, seeing him often at clubs around Detroit. You don't know what you're talking about.
Uncle Ted is awesome, seen him many a time. Front row only, every time was a lesson for me. Never forget 1974 won a battle of the bands and we played Hibernation Ted's cover.Thank you Ted for all those years of kick ass playin!!
was manager there then, at one point he had to be asked to turn it down, after all it was a 500 seat venue not a stadium, needless to say he played louder and longer the one am finishing time in jeopardy six straight nights
That's cool . I have said too my buddy a couple of times can you imagine how loud that would be in a club ? It doesn't sound like many people there either ?
Ted on fire! Of course he always is, but these Amboy Dukes "psychedelic" tunes are just off the rails good. I wish some of the shows from this era would get an official release. This show blows away the Survival of the Fittest release.
You must have good parents. Ted had a Problem during this time period with Parents dropping young children off at the shows. Once inside they would play tag and run all over the place instead of watching the show. One show that I went to was cut off at a 1/2 hour after repeated warnings to sit down.
The brits had no idea what ted was doing or how he was doing it...his playing is way more complex than most think. He can do more with a small Amp without a drummer or bass than you can imagine. His right hand is the sauce
Ol' Poopies Pants is a better guitarist with a higher-energy stage show than anyone else alive today. I shit my pants during a hangover in my 20's but it didn't improve my playing. I hope Ted's not making up the poopy pants story because it's awesome, but something tells me it's a tall tale.
@@markbassett3864 Were you REALLY at this show ? .....Amazing.....I had all the Amboy Dukes LPs in the 1970s ....I thought the stuff from Call of the Wild & Tooth Fang & Claw were more melodic that a lot of his later solo stuff though I enjoyed that too. The feedback he coaxed out of that Gibson Byrdland was extraordinary.....& this was decades before things like 'sustainer pickups' .
Indeed, Call Of The Wild & Tooth Fang Claw are amazing albums and he got his guitar lessons from non other than the great Jim McCarty (Cactus) with the screamin Byrd,@@walterevans2118

@@peach495 Maybe , I've seen no pictures or stories describing that before Scream Dream.

The El Mocambo...
I saw...The Cars/Alvin Lee/Joe Perry Project/Ramones there...
I was at this bar when Ted played. Great musicians as a three piece group.
I was at this show...crazy
Amazing don't even begin to describe it. Love it!
The evolution of his songs!

Are Rob Grange and Vic Mastrioni also great? I think yes.
A True Master!🎸
We are playing this on the Golden Hind as we sink a Spanish Galleon.
I could have been there since I live in TO, but then again I was only 9 years old.

A fine show amazing intro jaw dropping
1:36:01 is the most hair raising scream ever made in all of rock history

He's rehashing whatever he can help get his hands on
old poopie pants Ted
