The Fulani in the city of Kassala differ from other regions of Sudan, as it is difficult to distinguish them, as they speak Arabic fluently. They are city people, and they do not have clothes, professions, modesty, or villages that distinguish them. As for other citizens, they, like others, send their children to schools and universities and are present in all government jobs, as well as political parties, the army, and the police.
I am fulani originally from Mauritania, but now I am American Citizen, I have been in USA more than 22 years. I am well aware of Fulani in Sudan, Nigeria, Central, North and West African Continent. I am interested in knowing you more, because I have been planning to visit Sudan, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya and Israel. I visited all the Countries in west, in central and in north the continent. Only very recently I learned that there are Fulanis in Sudan. Not sure why I was surprised to learn that considering our ability to conquer new lands. In fact an Ethiopian friend told me that there are Fulanis in his country as well and I only believed him when he started talking about cows and milk. Being a Fulani from Sierra Leone/Guinea I can barely understand what she is saying here. Its a bit too fast for me LOL. I have a feeling that the Senegalese can better understand her. There are a lot of Fulani in Sudan, majority of them migrated from Nigeria in the closing years of British colonisation the sultan of Sokoto Muhammad attahiru of the fulani torodbe clan was forced out of Sokoto together with fulani emirs a cross the caliphate, though he was killed on his way to the east, majority of his followers under the leadership of his son Bello Mai wurno settled in the Sudan,the jahun Fulani crossed to Ethiopia from kasala,the jahun (jafun)thou domicile in Nigeria are originally from mali
I am from Adamawa in Nigeria, this is the Fulfulde dialect that we speak. It is the Fombina dialect. It is the dialect that is spoken in Fombina Adamawa (Adamawa and Taraba States of Nigeria) and Fombina Adamaoua of Cameroon. It is also the dialect spoken in some parts of Sudan and Chad. People from Senegambia do not understand our Fulfulde. But we understand a bit when they speak.
