    I use to build air conditioners for General Electric which was later bought by Trane. Started out building and testing compressors, then coils. Worked all the assembly line jobs too. We could build 500 to 600 units a day.

    I went through this same issue on a property first company air handler leaking like crazy, but they were several years old, so previous maintenance before me, which were people that was on the property from day one just kept charging units. There were some you walk around the building and you find a short hose and a drum just sitting there. Connected to a unit with it running. And this beautiful five bay maintenance building well two of the bays were filled waist deep in refrigerant drums, but basically confined to the last 15 or so feet of each room 3 1/2 feet deep. each drum had a tad of refrigerant. We purchased some new recovery drums and a new recovery Machine. And we started cleaning drums of Freon when we were done we had over 300 pounds of refrigerant stored up in recovery drains that company purchased over 300 drums of refrigerant in just under seven years and no one questioned it so what they were doing was billing to different properties. Not one person had the sense to report it under a warranty when the property wasn’t even a year old for all I know the lawsuits are still tied up today.

      @@LexVance the ones that we were doing had no TXV just two pipes coming down and they were extremely accessible very roomy units. The only thing we had to worry about burning was pipe insulation and we were able to pull away or slide it back. i’ve never purchased or replaced a TXV in my life but I’ve been retired for 10 years now. Leaking refrigerant is definitely one cause.., but after repairing the lines, I’d replace the capacitor to blower motor, belts (if not DD), blower motor itself, and maybe shroud and squirrel cage just to be safe. Oh.., and clean the heck out of that evaporator. If ya got 2 stage cooling.., than it’s gonna take a while.

    I went through that property two coils a day we had a three-man system set up where we would pick two units a day recover recycle, replace refill, and the good old topping it off after we were done it was always missing refrigerant. LOL they wanted us to do it in one week to 180 something coils they were 280 units on the property but they were additional coils well you know clubhouse community building, pool area, restrooms and showers weight room, exercise facility, laundry facilities, and there were a few buildings that had enclosed breezeway with elevators. Those areas were climate controlled as well. At least two of them the good old handicap building.

    We have had our AC guy out twice, the first time he filled/changed (?) our coolant. 3 gallons or so he said, he came out today again because the AC wasn’t going and the house is at 90. Today he said he installed a run capacitor, but several hours later our home is still at 90.. we are at a loss and not sure what to do. Would you recommend trying a diff company for another opinion, or calling him back out?

      Was it the installers or the equipment? Just curious because New equipment does arrive DOA all the time. I worked for a major supplier and there were times we would get so many warranty claims for leaky coils. Goodman 4-5t evap coils were notorious for this In recent years. Although the installers do play a small role in when they pick the equipment up, they should pressure tested anyways just to make sure but still.

    I don't see any ice or condensation on the system inside. The outdoor unit fan runs, and I can hear the indoor fan running just next to where I put in the filter. The insulted line that runs to the outside has condensation on it.

      May be low on Freon. It takes a long time to cool down when they're low. Thank you so much for watching!

    got the exact issue bur R22 is expensive and if there is a leak somewhere, what's the point recharging it? your thoughts?

    • @LexVance
      @LexVance  ปีที่แล้ว

      If they can fix the leak, it may buy you a few years to save money for a whole new system. R22 and a leak repair will still be cheaper than $10,000 for a new R410 system.

      @@LexVanceHi. I'm being quoted 1200 dollars to patch a leak in my upstairs unit, that's before adding the R22. Does that sound right? Thanks from NC

    • @LexVance
      @LexVance  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It may be low on Freon. You'll need a technician to come out and fill it up to correct pressures with gauges.

      Could be low on refrigerant. Make sure the outside unit is running as well. If it is, it's probably low on refrigerant.

    I don't have any of this equipment you're using. I just wanna know why the AC in my house is not putting out cold air. It runs, but there's almost no cold coming out.
