Hate that this mall died. One of my favorite places to shop when I lived in Dallas. I remember going to VV the day after Thanksgiving(before Black Friday was even coined) in the 80's; there were so many people in the mall that day that the upper decks were vibrating from all the foot traffic. A way of life gone forever...
Remember when Valley View was for "the rich" omg this is so sad! I still walk the almost empty halls at Collin Creek. It's getting bulldozed in June. Sigh...😢
Funny story. I was 15 in the late 70s, I had just moved from Houston to Whitesboro, I heard an ad for valley view mall on the radio, I hopped in my papas nova, one afternoon, while my Mimi was out & decided I was going to do some shopping. I drove to valley view Tx., thinking the mall was there. Lol. I was new to the area, didn't know the mall was in Dallas, well I didn't find it & a place where I stopped to ask, told me, valley view was small & had no mall. It was about 5 yrs later, i found the mall, went quite a few times after that. Nice mall. Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
it really is tbh, most of the time its pretty empty and its only alive because of the cheap shops around and mostly of the movie theater, which i still go to
Thank you for uploading this. I went to school in this area and to this mall. I was tearing up when watching this because I left Texas many years ago and always wanted to return to the same things❤
Collin Creek Mall is going away too, it is sad to see our history being erased, I guess that means we're getting old 😬 too bad you weren't close you can come to the mall one last time and go up to the movie theater and watch a movie or something just to bring back some old memories it's pretty awesome going there though.
I still miss that mall and I wish it could've lasted a few more years. At least we still have Northpark and Galleria. I can't wait for Dallas Midtown to open up.
My mom used to take me shopping here as a little girl in the 1970's. What a fantastic time to grow up! Back then, in the two downstairs "lounge" areas outside the main anchor stores, (which were Sanger-Harris and Joske's) there were very large lifelike and life size metal sculptures of animals. One was a hippo and the other one may have been an elephant. The hippo area was awesome because it also included s baby hippo and kids could climb up on it and pretend to ride it. So much fun.
Prestonwood mall and galleria mall hurt valley view mall three massive malls within 8 miles of each other. I know Prestonwood mall demolished valley view is gone i wonder how galleria mall doing it probably be demolished too. I just surprised how long valley view survived i was raised in Carrollton texas left 1995 been in Wichita falls texas last 23 years i miss the metroplex. Does anyone remember forest lane back in the day 1980s it was Friday Saturday parking lot for kids always busy it probably gone too 80s where the good old days.
Forest Lane was the hot spot and so was White Rock lake when we used to park out there and drank and there's just a one big giant party on the weekends
The Sears there was one of 5 national test stores across the nation: they were called “beacon” stores and tested all sorts of merchandising, display, point of sale software, customer services, cash registers and all sorts of ideas. They were also called “stores of the future.” Some things worked well: some other things not so much.
Might also want to mention that there was a junior anchor near the former Sanger Harris store, a Steve & Barry's which opened in February/March 2003, closed in 2008, reopened c. 2011 as Bontera Bazzar and renamed in 2012 as El Mercado which officially closed in early 2017.
I remember I use to go there daily and literally it was me and like 8 or 10 other people lol. The movie theatre was keeping it alive til the end. New releases were 8$
Moved to Dallas in 82 to 84 from Illinois went to college in the big D.Lived by there prestonwood mall too was back in 16 17 20 and 21 it has changed so much. Driving down Coit rd to Plano unrecognizable
Fiesta Mall west of my house in Mesa, AZ is also dead and you get the same kind of erie feel as this mall. It's still anchored by Sears and Dillard's Clearance Center. It was sold this year for $6 million to developers and they began discussions with the guy who bought the 2 empty anchor buildings as they prepare to sink in up to $30 million to redevelop it into a tech/for profit education campus with mixed use. Theu blan reuse the entire structure and there are no plans to take off the roof.
John Daniels Fiesta was part of my childhood, so it's sad to see it go, but at least the new owner plans to reuse it. Mesa is a town of nearly 500k and has 2 large malls. Guess it was bound to happen.
@@JohnDaniels I bet you're right about not recognizing it. I went out by Frisco mall. Just passing by and I didn't even recognize that area. I use to drive the 121( 2 lane ) hwy. I couldn't believe it nothing is the same.
And will be there for a long, long time. Valley View may be a smoldering, post-apocalyptic, dystopian nightmare that needs to be completely flattened at once instead of just chipping away at it, but AMC has a lease. Through 2025 I think. That pie in the sky development plan for Valley View is a decades-off pipe dream. The Valley View Rubble Pile of today is the Valley View Rubble Pile of tomorrow.
i worked at a few places in here when i was a teen many years ago...a friend and i accidentally got locked in here one night..we had no cell phones then and i was having a big anxiety attack...we finally found a security guard and he found my mom and all was good..we were really young
While I was visiting Atlanta, I visited both Phipps Plaza, and Lenox Square-which is within walking distance from each other. And both malls are very healthy.
But yeah, this mall area is going to get a facelift for a new city Thats why they're demolishung the big places not being used This place is still being used Just hope that the mall will be cut into a smaller "community" idk what to call it but yeah
See what happens when u stop buying at Sears .Macys JC Everything else goes too Opress The good ones Wink Give it to the rats and betrayers Have ur consequences

John Daniels : What does every possible job being exported out of the nation have to do with wealth be centralized to the point that nations are in collapse?
workwillfreeyou That is interesting that you say that. I have been thinking for a while to do a video on "Corporation Consolidation". When I was young Walmart had 2 huge American Flags on each side of the entrance that said American Made. It was awesome, a few years later they were taken down. There is no doubt that the middle class was sold out.

You are welcome and that was a great story about Valley View, Texas :)
HAR!!!
You should come to the Irving Mall in Irving, TX. It's starting to die off.
One by one they fall......sad to see them go
The Shootist lmao whats that
The Shootist I legit haven’t been to that mall since 2015
That mall is so ratchet lol
it really is tbh, most of the time its pretty empty and its only alive because of the cheap shops around and mostly of the movie theater, which i still go to

Dr. Winston O'boogie Those are some great memories! I remembered driving around in a Pontiac Firebird with dual hood scoops and t-tops 😎
Grew up in the arcade there, Amc theater, Food court in the late 80's early 90's as a kid. Miss it :(
It is sad, wish buildings would stay around longer :(

Great tour! I’m going to relocate there in near future so I’m checking out
I remember I use to go there daily and literally it was me and like 8 or 10 other people lol. The movie theatre was keeping it alive til the end. New releases were 8$
One time I locked all the public doors to the highschool's greenhouses and hung a sign in each door that said "Please Use Other Door."
LOL!!! The guy who hung these signs must have been your brother :)

I live near Red Bird and there is a mall there but it's already dying due to to some remodeling and might finish in 2020 >:(

It was the best place to buy lots of stuff
In 2005.
AMC is doing well because it's first run *and* super cheap: $5.99 evenings, $3.99 before 4pm.
I always came here when i was a child
Sad it was like I grew up at that mall
A lot of good memories there. You would not even recognize Town East Mall in Mesquite.

I still go to that mall today for the AMC.
Hope you enjoy it, won't be there much longer 😭
@@JohnDaniels enjoying it while it last 😎
Valley View is completely losing out to the nearby Galleria, which is not too far.
Exactly
Legit not even a five minutes walk from each other
While I was visiting Atlanta, I visited both Phipps Plaza, and Lenox Square-which is within walking distance from each other. And both malls are very healthy.
Had alot of memories there. Sad that it’s abandoned now
i think we're alone now there doesn't seem to be anyone around
But yeah, this mall area is going to get a facelift for a new city

There is one thing for sure, everything changes. I feel like when the mall dies so does my past.....
AMC the best thing there
I've Been There Since 2010 - 2012
A lot is changing.
John Daniels Yeah A 4 Billion Dollar Development Will Go Into Its Place. It's Called Dallas Midtown
Awwwwww......it's going to be a upscale mini New York.

AMC Will Close By The End Of The Year
That AMC is still very popular which is interesting. It should be called AMC Ghost 1 :)
Looks like star court mall from stranger things

Take a close look at the Chinese made toys in your child's hand. Is this too complicated?
