    You know, I think Jay’s disappearance did bring back the Smith siblings to screen, but it also shows us that she leans on the person closest to her. And Kai has always been close to her and Lloyd, but Nya seems to have gone back to Kai again, something tells me we will see her go back to what she did in seasons 6-7

    In Crystalized, Kai and Jay fought against each other because of Nya. This could have been very interessting to show us how they grief in different ways wich leads to conflict. But nope, Nya returned and the conflict was emidiatly over.

    Very true. I love Kai and Nya’s sibling bond and I absolutely love how it’s front and center again

    This is why it’s such a good thing that Jay is gone I really don’t know why during the last 5 seasons the writers chose to put so much focus on Jay and Nya and not Kai and Nya also.

    • @vanyaconroy7002
      @vanyaconroy7002 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Perhaps it’s because they are trying to say Nya and Jay are a thing now, while it used to be just a spoken thing. They did get much closer after season 9 I noticed

    • @ORB1424
      @ORB1424  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      Yeah, they were a lot closer after season 9 but it didn't have to come at the cost of Kai's character.

      It also feels like Jay acts out more than Kai does when it comes to Nya, at least every time I’ve seen him get mad and lash out it was ALWAYS because of Nya, ever since the early seasons. Season 12 may be one of the only seasons that actually focuses on HIS character, not just his love for Nya, at least until Dragon’s Rising.

    I couldn't agree more! I was so mad with Seabound just ignoring Kai😭😭😭

    I completely agree. Kai should be an important part of Nya's life and even though he might know she can take care of herself. I would imagine there would still be that lingering feeling of needing to protect your younger sibling. Especially in seabound. I am kinda annoyed how the 11 min era treated kai and nya's sibling Bond to be almost the same as the rest of the ninja. While Kai cares about everyone of course. Nya should be the one person he cares about the most. Its his sister after all. I feel like they couldve had more scenes of maybe of kai maybe sometimes taking that "overprotective sibling" role in some scenes due to his care for nya. I hope maybe that might happen more due to kai still having the fear of losing Nya again. We dont know what Kai's vision in the phantasm cave was. But they showed Kai glancing over at Nya before sighing in relief and then looking away before lloyd asking how nya knew that those vision were fake. But at the end of day im just happy that kai and nya get to be siblings and when jay does come back im hoping things will then be balanced out.

    • @lucyanderson9064
      @lucyanderson9064 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've been wondering about that also. They never showed what Kai's vision was, which has me thinking it either wasn't anything special, or something really important to be revealed later.

  • @buttadog1174

    I honestly don't think Jay necessarily needed to be gone for this to have happened. It's more so that the direction of some characters, namely Kai, needed to be better.
    You can have that perfect balance, and we've seen that in every season up until S10. We were able to get some good sibling moments between the two while simultaneously getting stuff to cater to the Jaya fans. I'm just hoping Doc Wyatt manages to keep that balance once Jay inevitably returns to the team.

    • @ORB1424
      @ORB1424  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Yeah, one character doesn't have to be gone for the other to get attention, but since Jay is gone for now the show is able fully commit to the siblings. And hopefully things will be more balanced again when Kai and Jay return.

      @@ORB1424 True. It's just a shame the show was struggling with them to begin with. Feel like the last ounce of it we saw was in MotM but besides that I can't think of anything significant between S11-16, save for 45 seconds in Crystalized.

  • @teamjas9
    @teamjas9 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    Finally someone says it, It was so weird to see that the siblings just forgot to act like siblings. Plus Kai who used to be very protective of Nya just completely forgot that side of him during seabound where i'd expect it to be most prevalent. Whenever something happens to Nya the show always focusses on Jay's reaction instead of giving equal importance to Kai's.

    I actually didn’t realize that till after I re-watched most of it like I haven’t watched any dragons rising yet, but I have watched season one all the way up to crystallized and I realized one thing after season seven they just don’t really act like siblings I would’ve written SeaBound Mix it up between the relationship between Kai and Nia and siblings and Nia And Jay as lovers as pretty much I love Jay he’s one of my favorites next to Kai and Cole, but there’s more to him than just Nia And the same could go for her. They’re both inventors. Nia has a stinking sibling for Pete’s sake use Him also they could’ve actually introduced a new master of wind during sea bound Or the island seasons I mean, come on it was right there. Tell me nobody Else didn’t think that because I did

    As a really big Jay fan, I never liked romance in Ninjago, it was the only the ninja made a useless scene of and it isn't even helping them become who they are except if their romantic partner is cheering them up or kidnapped so it would give motivation to the ninja.

      I feel like Kai was used more as a joke in the recent seasons (minus Dragon’s Rising). Now it feels like Zane is nothing but logical and maybe a bit sarcastic here and there, like he’s so bland, I know he is a Nindroid but he is still his own person who had great development in earlier seasons. I just hope he has more of a personality in later seasons.

    Yet another reason why Dragons Rising is such a breath of fresh air for the franchise. While Jaya is a great relationship, Kai and Nya have such a great dynamic as well, but it gets overlooked as romantic relationships are focused on more.

Will Lloyd be grieving as hard as she is? I have many questions.

    All of this bs just makes me mad and disappointed. The writers did kai so fking dirty bro. I get that jay becomes upset and all if something bad happens to nya and im not saying he doesn't have the right to grief or be angry but bro Kai is her mf BROTHER, the guy who knows her the best. He became a ninja FOR HER and made it very clear he loves her a lot and would do anything for her, he even said it himself but NOOOO jaya is more important. Jaya this, jaya that. What about kai??? Nya's his baby sister, hes known her all her life, he held her in his arms when she was born, he witnessed all special events in her life while jay is just some guy she met who eventually became her bf and tbh, the writers making jay's serious side only about nya just trashes his character. Jay may not be my favourite character but hes so much more than just some lovesick obsessed guy like wtf.

    Not to mention how annoying Jay was in crystallized, he kicked Kai for accidentally knocking over a glass of WATER. I get that Jay was in despair, but boy he acted just like what Kai said, like he’s the only one who missed her. If anyone was the most depressed over Nya’s disappearance, it should have been Kai, not Jay. Yes, Jay does have a right to grieve and I understand why he would be one of the most affected by the loss of Nya, but Kai is her brother, so it would have made more sense for HIM to be the most upset (though Master Wu did help him sort out his grief). I’m not upset at Jay for being in pain due to the loss of his lover, but the way the show mostly focused on HIS grief rather than Kai’s irks me. Jay attacked Kai, Nya’s BROTHER, for spilling a glass of water even though he apologized. That is not normal behavior in accordance to grief, it’s abnormal and shows how obsessed and deluded Jay was at the time. I have been on and off about me liking Jay, he actually used to be my favorite character when I was 7, but now Crystallized really takes the cake for my dislike of him. I’m glad Jay is not shown as much in Dragon’s Rising, it does really give the show an opportunity to focus on Kai and Nya’s relationship.

    • @buttadog1174
      @buttadog1174 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mostly agree here, but I don't think Jay's reaction wasn't unwarranted. Up until then, he genuinely believed that glass of water was Nya, and he constantly got looked down on for that-especially from Kai.
      It shouldn't necessarily be a contest on who grieved more as both grieved in different ways, much like how we do. Kai's obviously took the form of anger while Jay's was denial. Them eventually being at odds with each other makes sense, and for exactly the reasons you stated.

    • @gustav2yay196
      @gustav2yay196 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@buttadog1174 I understand what you’re saying, thanks for your input. I get that Kai was somewhat provoking Jay, it just irritates me how violent Jay can get when it comes to Nya, almost seeming like HE’S the over protective brother when Kai’s supposed to have that role. I do like and respect how much Jay cares for Nya, and outside of his aggression when it becomes about her, I do like Jay as a character. What I don’t like was that he was supposed to be the goofy character who overreacts in funny ways, not aggressive ways, and that’s what he has done several times because of his love for Nya. I know that it could be a good flaw to his character, but it is still annoying. Even for a little ‘joke’ Cole made once in the first or second season, saying “that’s how the cookie crumbles” when he was I think trying to comfort Lloyd, Jay physically attacked him since it was after Nya was captured, even though that wasn’t Cole’s intention.

    • @buttadog1174
      @buttadog1174 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gustav2yay196 No problem, and again I get what you mean, but I feel like for those two instances I feel like those really were meant to highlight how anxious he can be. He's always been like that, thinking about how things can potentially take a turn for the worst for those he cares about. I'd even argue that trait isn't necessarily exclusive to Nya too.
      So when we see Jay lash out at characters, it's very likely because of the anxiety he's kept bottled up. Kai knocking over what he believed to be what was left of her sent him over the edge. If it were any other character I'm sure it would've been the same as well. In my opinion, that's very in line with how people with anxiety act in real life.
