I’m in! I also feel like 2025 is going to be a better year! The last 4 have taken a toll on finances. We did a low spend year last year and are doing it again. One thing I’m doing this time is tracking every time I DONT spend so I can see how much I’m saving. Like I wanted a takeout pizza for lunch this week and wanted to go after Christmas sales shopping. Didn’t do either. I saved $60 this week alone.
Wait I LOVE THIS IDEA. Tracking what you don't spend is a brilliant way to essentially reward yourself for not purchasing things. This is seriously so smart and I may start doing this too!!! (and I agree-2025 is going to be the best year yet. We've all earned it because these last few years have been crazy lol)
This is my 1st no buy Jan. I have planed 1 month and if it goes well pushing it into 3 months. I have decluttered my house and have changed my spending but till buy way to much clothes and things. Want to get this under control. Good luck to you and Happy New Year to anyone that reads this
Wishing the happiest, healthiest, and wealthiest new year to you as well ❤️ I’m so excited for you for your no buy challenge! I know you’ll do great. I’m here whenever you need support ☺️
I’m in and ready to go. I am so excited. I have plenty of everything and NEED nothing. Bills, groceries and special occasion gifts are all I really need. I am going to use all my consumables before I buy more.
I like how personalized your no-buy plan is! It sounds like mine. I have too many friends and family who do so much for me to not give back on special occasions. I have a “gifts” fund I’ve set up and plan on putting $25 from each check. It helps me feel a lot better rather than being super strict on no-buy
Thanks 🩷 this definitely will be challenging for me, but I also wanted to ensure I was still aligning with my values and hopefully creating a system and a way of life that I will keep long after this year is over! There is no way I could go a year without giving gifts, especially when I absolutely have the means and privilege to do so. I completely relate to being beyond blessed with the relationships in my life and have people who always pour into me, so I personally couldn’t NOT have a rule around this haha!
@ I love it! 🥰 it makes total sense and is certainly a sustainable way to still budget yet keep your values. I’ll be following along your journey! Cheers to a great year of growth! 💃🏽
This is honestly the MOST relatable video on No buy 2025 I've seen so far. I'm going to be doing this as well, I finally fixed my mental health in 2024 and finally began working again so 2025 I have to fix my relationship with money and spending. I'm planning to transition myself off of social media entirely because of the negative influences. Hoping for the best for all of us!! The consumerism needs to stop, it drives me nuts thinking about the amount of waste people carelessly make every day, myself included bc I'm not perfect. But this year I want to better align with my morals. My additional rules are that I'm vegan so I'll only purchase vegan and cruelty free items (-:
Thank you 🥰❤️ I’m so proud of you for prioritizing your mental health (and health in general) FIRST. We have nothing if we don’t have our health. But taking time off social media and really working on your consumption and finances is going to make you feel even better-I’m totally in the same boat. Plus you’re ensuring your behaviors align with your deepest values!! Sounds like you’ve got a recipe for your best year yet ✨ happy new year! It’s going to be a great one for us!!!
I’m planning to do a very low buy year. Only groceries and consumables when I run completely out. I spent so much shopping for clothes, shoes and PURSES. Household goods, etc l, don’t need anything! Just want to pay off my debt and save! Love this video! ❤
I relate so much!! The clothes, shoes, etc I’ve purchased is over the top. I have an abundance and am so excited to learn to be content with that!!! Watching our bank accounts grow and our debt get paid off is gonna be the new dopamine boost (instead of shopping) hahaha 💅🏻 thanks for being here! Sending you love and blessings in 2025 ✨
Thank you!! 🩷 I was trying to keep it as simple as possible while still ensuring it aligns with my values. Because I genuinely do want this to be a long-term lifestyle change rather than JUST a challenge. Spending on the things that actually matter to me and mercilessly cutting out everything else haha. I’m so excited you’ll be joining me!! Be sure to let me know how your challenge goes 🥰
Whoa, your plan is almost identical to mine despite this being my first time trying. I'm so excited for us and the progress ahead! You got this!! You just earned sub so fast!😊
I've done & doing again No Spend Jan, but never tried a year. I do feel this year I was more self conscious of what I bought & brought into my home. Looking forward to your other videos.
Being conscious and intentional is the most important step!!! Not everybody needs a “challenge” or intense structure (I do currently haha but I’m hoping to experience a lifestyle change through this challenge where it will just become a way of life). Thank you so much for being here and taking time to share your thoughts 🩷✨
Great video Leah! I’m so happy I found your channel. I’m planning a no buy 2025 (something I’ve never done before) and your video gave me great tips and inspiration to make it a successful year! Looking forward to more of your content!
Thank you so much!!! We’re in this together, my friend! And we’re going to have our best year ever ❤️❤️❤️ thanks for being here. I look forward to hearing how your challenge is going throughout the year too!! We got this✨
Really interesting, good luck for 2025! I have subbed and will be cheering you on. Looking in from outside, it's crazy how consumerist the US mindset (in general) is. One thing I would suggest you allow yourself this year is maintenence - at some point, your car, home or stuff may need repairs, and you should allow yourself some money to stay safe and not have to buy replacements. Good luck!
That’s an excellent suggestion and really helpful feedback, thank you!! And thanks for cheering me on too, I think I’m going to need it haha. I’m super excited but this is DEFINITELY going to be tough. I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me 🩷 wishing you a happy and healthy 2025!
Interested! I love watching these no buy/low buy experiences. I’ll subscribe and watch as you do this years! …And think about my own purchases more carefully hopefully!
Just stumbled across your channel and I had to subscribe. Your no-buy rules and exceptions are pretty much identical to mine for 2025! Looking forward to going on this journey and becoming part of a frugal and more intentional community, in the process. We can do this!
Awe yay!!! I’m so honored to have you here 🩷✨ thanks for your comment. I am looking forward to hearing how your no buy goes and supporting you along the way. We got this!! 2025 is going to be our best year yet.
Hi dear I absolutely agree with you on everything, especially about taking care now of our perfect machine called body as insurance for a healthy own future ❤ (following you from Italy, I had to do low and no buy years in the past due to some extraordinary situation in my life. But I want to do it with another spirit now 💪🏻✨️)
❤️❤️❤️ we all have nothing if we don’t have our health! I’m so honored to have you along for the ride (all the way from Italy too!!! So cool!) Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. I know this year is going to be the best one yet for all of us!
I’m truly avoiding shopping at all costs hahaha. Only when I have to or it genuinely benefits my life or someone I love. Honored to have you along for the ride!!! 🫶🏻
Subscribed. I will be joining you on a no buy year. Thank you so much for the spreadsheet. The mission for me is to save, use all my clothes. I would like to save enough to maybe go on a trip to the mountains (I haven’t been to the mountains in years)
Clothing is also my top spend. I have a closet filled to the brim with clothes + additional storage bins. I don't need anymore! Will be attempting to join you on this no-spend year (although for me I think I will do a low-spend). Trinkets are my weakness too lol, I'm going to just minimize how much time I spend at malls or stores and avoid going into home decor stalls and whatnot.
I know it’s SO HARD with clothes 😭 but yes!! I encourage you to customize it however you see fit because the goal is just to spend less and spend more intentionally so whether it’s a no buy or low buy it doesn’t matter as long as it works for YOU ✨ also yes to your point about not even allowing yourself in those places-great strategy and I will be doing the same!! The farther we keep ourselves away from temptation, the better! Lol
I really need to do a low buy year because I have some upcoming medical expenses plus my student loan payments. Trying to save as much money and not buy useless crap.
Yes!! It’s the useless crap for me too 😅 so hard to avoid the impulse spends. But I know you can do it ☺️ we’re going to have a great year and will be so proud of ourselves by the end of it!!!
Thanks for your comment and for hanging out with me on here 🩷✨ I’m so excited and grateful for the growth I’ve experienced so far and can’t wait to gain more friends in 2025!!! Glad you enjoyed the video 🫶🏻
Oof that had to be SO HARD in December especially!!!! But it really is so rewarding. I just know I’m going to be sooo proud of myself this time next year!
New subbie here! I love this and I’m in…. I still need to write down my rules for the year, but I am definitely cutting down my spending. It’s been insane
Thank you so much for being here 🩷✨ Yay!!! So glad to have you on this adventure with me. It’s soooo easy for things to get out of hand, TRUST ME when I say I get it hahaha. You’ve found a good place to help support your best year yet. Let me know what rules you end up setting 😊
I'm starting with a low buy January and will then see how far into the year I can continue. I've given up buying magazines for a year before and it made me be more inventive using my local library, online/supermarket free magazines and charity shops for books. I've also done a no buy January before when I was a much less intentional shopper and I found it really hard so it will be interesting to see how it goes this time. I've limited meals/coffee out to only going to places that support a charity/local business no big brands and only when sitting in with family/friends, no takeaways. I will be shopping my wardrobe first for clothes etc but will consider a charity shop purchase if it's an intentional purchase/item I truly love as often the next stop for these things is landfill in third world countries according to what I've researched. I've subscribed!
Thanks for being here!! I love love love the idea of only supporting local. That's a great way to spend your money-pouring directly into your physical community! Yesss even the stuff that happens to our "decluttered" clothes breaks my heart!!!! So many items never find homes again and end up washing up on beaches in other countries or cluttering up their landfills. It's so sad so shopping secondhand whenever you can is great!
@@ericaphelps6017 so happy to have you in this with me 🙌🏻 we’re going to power through these impulses TOGETHER lol (no matter how cute the items are 🤣😭)
I actually tend to spend money on hobbies like scrapbooking, manga, anime, and video games. I am pulling back this year and saving to buy some new clothes 😅It has been about 7+ years since I replaced any clothing. To be fair I love to sew and try to mend and patch my jeans, bras, shirts, skirts, and so on until they are no longer usable. Sounding like an old lady at 32 lol ☺ Then when they are worn out I cut up remaining good fabric to recycle as additional patches for other clothing. So that's why my clothes last so long lol but I have gotten to the point that most of my stuff has just stopped fitting, patching sometimes with certain fabrics makes the size of said item smaller, or just worn to threads. So my goal is saving for a almost completely new wardrobe and to save a good emergency fund. Next year I am thinking, as long as I hit those goals, to then save for a month ahead on bills. And just build from there...
Haha hey we’re actually almost exactly the opposite in how we spend money! The one thing I AM allowing myself to spend on this year is hobbies and passions vs clothes for me are totally banned because I’m usually ridiculous with spending on that 😆 well I actually want to first celebrate your “old lady” vibes lol!!! Being that resourceful and having those skills is exactly the type of person I hope to be. But I do think you deserve a wardrobe that fits you well and that you feel good in so this is a great goal (amongst your other goals like having an emergency fund. Always the best place to start!) Wishing you well this year, my friend 🥳
Love this!!! Subbed!!! I’m not officially on a low or no buy, but I’m banning impulse buys and only adding new things with intention from now 🙏🙏 love your energy, I’m a small creator too🥰xx
@@iamelizarosalind small creators unite! Haha. Subscribed right back, my friend 🫶🏻 LOVE that you’re banning impulse buys-truly I feel like that alone is half the battle!!! That combined with just generally being intentional, you’re definitely setting yourself up for success even if it isn’t an “official” no spending/consumption challenge. Keep up the great work ✨
@ likewise lovely, tomorrow my 2025 goals videos goes live and I’m feeling so motivated for a great year. I’m really excited to see your channel blow up!! It’s gonna happen 💕🙏xx
I take a nuanced exception to your #7. If you have standard staples and know your usage cadence, consider buying when/ if you come across them on sale, at a better price, or even stock up to capture today's price over a future inflated price. You dont want to buy a life time's worth to assuage no-spend feelings.
This is a super great point! I think I would be more likely to do that with household products, but the main reason I made #7 for me personally is to help curb my desire for trying new or different products of the same category (if that makes sense haha like trying different brands or different formulas!) But you make a super valid point and I will keep this in mind for the items that I do know I absolutely will continue using! Thank you for your thoughts on this!!!
@justlifewithleah Yes, im talking about the "staples" not all the things that glitter new and shiney from a retailer's shelf. You had a point in this video about using what you have... If you have items in the personal hygine, beauty, personal care type categories you purchased to try out because the beckoned you I do stoingly recommend you adopt a "use`it up" coupled with "make do" approach. We began a decluttering effort of using all the open things from kitchen to garage and all areas in between Jan '22. By June '22 we were doing all the same activities to also include unopened items purely for frugality reasons; decluttering happened while just sitting along for the ride. The summer of '23 I started in on the items held to the side and saved for "special". I must admit I smelled pretty special while gardening and diying after using some of my life time's worth of special occations soaps, creams, powders, and all the rest.
I’ve a bad habit of wasting little bits of cash here and there. Like a coffee when I put fuel in the car (that I don’t really want, it’s just a habit) and a bottle of pop and a snack to drink and eat in the car when I go to the supermarket. Every time I don’t get one I’m gonna send the few € straight over to my savings account. See what it amounts too over the year 🤷🏻♀️
You have some good suggestions but I disagree on one thing. I do not re-stock items when I’m almost out of them. I buy those items only when they are on sale. Sometimes I’m a little ahead.
That’s super valid! I must admit I don’t pay any attention to sales (even though I probably should). But yours is probably a better strategy financially in the long run!!
Welcome aboard!! So glad to have you here ❤️ congrats on your low spend! You’re going to do great this year!!!!! I’ll be here for you whenever you need it :)
im also doing a no buy year in 2025. im really wanting to save money more than anything. i want to start some personal investing to go along with my retirement investing so i can hopefully retire early.
yessss!! these are great goals! I am also in the retire early camp. That's why I'm trying to frontload so much investing now as well. The longer we have money in the market, the better. Compounding interest works wonders 🤩
I’m planning on doing the same thing. My biggest thing is gonna be tracking every penny. So often i’m broke and can’t pinpoint exactly why. I’ve already removed my cards off my amazon account and deleted amazon off my home screen. I scroll amazon the way others scroll facebook. I’m with you on clothes and shoes, it’s absurd how many of both i already have. I buy stuff for the fantasy me knowing damn well i wear the same black tshirts everyday anyway. 😒 I’m excited to pay off debts and actually have an emergency fund. Good luck everyone 😊
I can’t tell you how much I identify with everything you said! Living for the fantasy version of myself, scrolling Amazon as a hobby/something to do, etc. It’s all so valid and I’ve 100% been there!!! But you’re doing all the right things to get yourself back on track and it’s clear your intentions are set, so I know this year is going to be great for you! 🩷 don’t forget to check back in with me as the year goes on. I’m rooting for you and here if you ever need any encouragement!!
Great vlog 👏! I believe you can do this in 2025 😎 I just don't know if I can 😂 But I watched because I told my family that I want to do this in 2025 too & would like to be held accountable 👍 I spent way too much last year on dolls & toys 😔 So I need to just enjoy what I have 🤓 Like you I'll have exceptions such as buying if it's free such as with gift cards but do not want to use our checking acct for unnecessary things 😃 Thank you for all your great tips!
Thank you! Haha I think you can do it too!!! It starts with being aware and creating intention around your purchases, which you’re doing 🫶🏻 and you’re in a great place here on my channel for accountability! Good luck this year!
Hahahaha very true 😂 luckily I just bought two new packs in preparation for this because I thought about that and was like …I should probably make sure I have these on hand. Hard agree that not EVERYTHING can be bought secondhand lol!!!!
I am so in. Have done no buy years two times in the past. Appreciate your Google Sheet and joining the Discord channel (also new). I have lots of tips and rules, might share more on Discord.
"I don't want a life of lack." Well, make sure you aren't a single old woman with not enough retirement or affordable housing. Massages, gym - hahahahaa. You can exercise without the gym and spending $100 on a massage and padding someone else's bank account before your own is laughable.
Totally agree you can exercise without spending money! Massages are also a luxury purchase (though I must say my massage therapist is far more affordable at about $45-50 usually). I will be the first to tell you I live a life with many privileges that I am incredibly grateful for. That being said, these are just the categories of spending money that I am personally focusing on because they are things that matter to me. I am cutting other areas ruthlessly as they are not things I need or am prioritizing this year. My health and overall wellness definitely is though! My goal is to enjoy my life to the fullest extent while also trying to ensure I am taking care of my future self by saving and investing everything that I possibly can. Personal finance is personal and I completely understand if we don't have the same perspectives on what makes something a "good" purchase! Wishing you a healthy and happy 2025. I'm rooting for you ❤️
I'm also attempting a no buy year in 2025! Thanks for the great video! My channel also just got monetized, so I know it's going to happen for you soon!! 🫶

Yes!! It’s the useless crap for me too 😅 so hard to avoid the impulse spends. But I know you can do it ☺️ we’re going to have a great year and will be so proud of ourselves by the end of it!!!
New viewer !! Looks like since you posted you got more subscribers 😊 At 3K now. That’s awesome! Great rules & tips !! Thanks for sharing ☺️
Thanks for your comment and for hanging out with me on here 🩷✨ I’m so excited and grateful for the growth I’ve experienced so far and can’t wait to gain more friends in 2025!!! Glad you enjoyed the video 🫶🏻
Thank you for the template 😊
You’re very welcome 🩷
I did a no buy in December and trust me it was tempting but very rewarding.
Oof that had to be SO HARD in December especially!!!! But it really is so rewarding. I just know I’m going to be sooo proud of myself this time next year!
New subscriber here. Very relatable video. This was very helpful. Thank you!
Thank you for being here 🫶🏻 I am SO happy to hear you found it helpful! Always feel free to request any other content you’d like to see here ☺️
New subbie here!
I'm in! Definitely agree on the clothes & shoes. I want to do the same! Walmart is my weakness😂
@@justlifewithleah thanks and hoping for the best for you and your savings goals.
Same to you!!!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 this is our year!!
Haha I love that about using your special occasion soaps 🤣 these are such great points and super good advice!!! Thank you!
See what it amounts too over the year 🤷🏻♀️
Absolutely LOVE this idea!!! Literally paying your future self for better habits and behaviors. Brilliant!
Joined the discord! Can't wait to have an accountability group!
Yay!! So happy to have you along for the ride 😊
Hi new subbie here. I'm new to youtube videos. I'm doing a low spend 2025 with an emphasis on no spend January.
Welcome aboard!! So glad to have you here ❤️ congrats on your low spend! You’re going to do great this year!!!!! I’ll be here for you whenever you need it :)
Hmm, I didn’t plan in joining anymore discord groups but I think I’ll check this one out!
We’d love to have you ❤️✨
I’m in!
Yay!! Welcome to the club 🩷✨ we’re going to have an amazing year!!!!
im also doing a no buy year in 2025. im really wanting to save money more than anything. i want to start some personal investing to go along with my retirement investing so i can hopefully retire early.
yessss!! these are great goals! I am also in the retire early camp. That's why I'm trying to frontload so much investing now as well. The longer we have money in the market, the better. Compounding interest works wonders 🤩
I’m with you for 2025. 🤞🤞for us.
Yay!!! So happy to have you along for the ride 🥰 we got this!!!!!
I’m excited to pay off debts and actually have an emergency fund.
@ Thanks girl ♥️ imagine how proud we’ll be by the end of the year!
Doing the very same thing. Luck to you!!!
And good luck to you as well!!! We got this 💪🏻
I’m paying off 40k in consumer debt by the end of 2025 🎉 this will only be possible if I have a no buy year!
YOU GO, my friend!!!! That’s a huge and amazing goal! I’m proud of you in advance and know you can do it 🥰
Hi from Ireland, lets do this.
So cool to be doing this with you even across a whole ocean! 😱🥰 honored to have you here! Let’s have a great year!!!!
I'm also putting away my credit cards. Cutting out all but.essential bills groceries and utilities. No eating out!
You go!!! These are great goals 💪🏻 I know you’re going to crush it this year!
I will try my best to do this☺️
You can do it! I'd love to have you along for the ride with me 😊
Starting my no buy on April 2025 till April 2026.
Love it!! What’s causing you to wait until April if you don’t mind me asking?
I am hoping to save $10,000 this year. I am interested in saving $15,000 on my own for a used SUV.
That’s AMAZING! Great goals. Wishing you luck and blessings in 2025 🥰
I'm also doing a no buy year! I'm interested in the discord, but the link is expired. 😢 Can you create a new invite?
Yes! I'm so sorry about that!!! Try this link: discord.gg/Adghf8Dq and let me know if you can join ❤ we'd be delighted to have you!
@justlifewithleah that worked, thank you!
Me too girl! Me too!
It’s so nice to not feel alone in these struggles 🥹🫶🏻 it’s hard out here!!!! lol
I will join your no buy year❤️
So happy to have you along for the ride!!!! 🫶🏻✨
I’m trying to join the discord but the link in the description is no longer working
Thank you SO MUCH for letting me know!!! I think I fixed it. Let me know if this works for you: discord.gg/9dVbXPSf
@ that worked
It’s not that insane, I did it in 2013. I ran out of underpants!
I did allow my self second hand purchases if it was a need. However, undies isn’t something you buy second hand.
Hahahaha very true 😂 luckily I just bought two new packs in preparation for this because I thought about that and was like …I should probably make sure I have these on hand. Hard agree that not EVERYTHING can be bought secondhand lol!!!!
💪
I am so in. Have done no buy years two times in the past. Appreciate your Google Sheet and joining the Discord channel (also new). I have lots of tips and rules, might share more on Discord.
Absolutely!!! PLEASE DO share any and all tips you may have 🥰 that would be lovely! Thank you!
I'm waiting for a no-buy video about a TH-camr putting their no-buy savings in Costco stock and making $1 million. 🤑
Hey I’d love to be that TH-camr making $1M lol
No buy 2025 to buy a house in 2026
Yes!!!! Great goal ❤️🏠
Ahhhhh congratulations!!!! That’s huge! 🥳 and yay I’m here for you if you ever need some extra encouragement on your no buy! You got this ❤️
I followed a different creator in 2024 in her no spend year and it was super interesting. Can’t wait to follow yours.
Thank you 😊 I’m so glad you’re along for the ride this year!
