nice! Let's go down the game cinematic rabbit hole !! :D WOW expansion cinematics were always bangers - they were always of the best quality available at that time.
BTW, apart from cool music videos League has some pretty nice champion trailers and cinematics (not only seasonal cinematics but also story driven!) I think it would be nice to spin that wheel more around october in preparation to Arcane S2 ;)

So, lore-wise, that blond guy is named Anduin Wrynn. Grandson to the king that got killed in the movie, named for Anduin Lothar played by Travis Fimmel (Ragnar). I also recommend you watch all of the trailers for WoW. 20 years later they still hold up really well, and the newest one is crazy in how good it looks, even if it isn't action packed.

For all the Flak Blizzard gets, their animation team has always absolutely brilliant cinematics. I'd Recommend "Old Soldier" for another WoW Cinematic, or "Honor and Glory" from Overwatch, or getting away from Blizzard, maybe something from Dark Souls or Warhammer.

@@GOTGames Lament of the Highborn is another epic song from WoW. No spoilers there--it's a song sung by the now Blood Elfs about the history and deaths that came about in the Troll Wars prior to Warcraft 3 in the timeline. It's sung by Patty aka the voice actor for Sylvanas in a quest chain ending from the Blood elves starting zone.

      FOR THE HORDE!

  • @Knight-of-Sarcasm
    @Knight-of-Sarcasm 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Patty brings Sylvanas to life and her battle cry always stirs me inside. I'm a mixed gamer---I follow the Horde and the Alliance, but my first characters were Horde and I love the Dark Lady. She had a horrible series of events that brought her to undeath and the Banshee Queen began to go around and help release the undead/scourge that Arthas the Lich King had turned to his control. These undead are called the Forskane and they conscripted Lordaeron as their home city since most were from that kingdom after Arthus destroyed it after his downfall--that other review I watched about half an hour ago on your channel. She also sings the Lament of the Highborne (elves) who were her people before Arthas tried to wipe them out. They rejected her since she was undead, but it's still her homeland of birth.
That said, the young King on the other side is the baby faced Anduin Wrynn. You'll recognize those names from the Warcraft movie; he was named after that Anduin. His grandfather was the king in the movie. In the movie, the lore is scrambled and if you are a WoW fan you're not allowed to like it. I do though--but especially for Khadgar. He's my second favorite character in the franchise. I'll try to not spoiler it much, but the story is in the book the Last Guardian and the battle with Medivh who curses him with an age spell where he looks older than he really is. They don't show this in the movie as well as a LOT of other things. In the game, the baby (green Jesus he's nicknamed) Thrall is captured and raised by a concentration camp overseer to be his pet gladiator. Thrall was the name he was given--you heard his mother's name for him in the movie. He escaped with help and started hunting down other Horde orcs that either escaped or needed liberated from their camps, and formed what was the foundation of the Horde. This Horde was improved from the ones that followed the warlock Guldan, again seen in the movie, and Honor was raised to be a core of the Horde's existence. As time continued, they were approached by other races and they were adopted into the Horde becoming the Horde of today that you see on the ruined city walls. Neither the Alliance nor the Horde are bad. They're just opposite sides of the same coin that each have done hideous things (see concentration camps?) to the other over the in game decades.
Anduin is a power priest that didn't follow in his father's war slanted footsteps. He attempted to find peace and wanted the Horde and Alliance to work together. That's why he could do the mass battle field rez of his army, the priest ability. He did not want to seige Loraeron but events taken by Sylvanas--which I boo Blizz for taking her down that storyline--forced his and his Alliance allies to have to capture her to put her to trial for her war crimes. That's why Genn Greymane says something about cornering/capturing her. Though Genn has no love for Sylvanas even before this occurs, but that's the events of Cataclysm and spoilers lay in that direction.
Sorry if this is confusing, but I figured I'd use your knowledge of the movie as a jumping point. This remains one of my top two cinematics and I watch it over and over and over again. You wanted to know more about what happened next but that was part of the gameplay for the people logging into BfA for the first time. There are YT videos of it, or if you do that starter account, you can replay it so you can experience it first hand.
There are several excellent cinematics in this ex-pack and when you have gotten back to this stage of the timeline, I recommend watching them.
    D.

Random game dev here - answering the question about how much it costs to produce a CG video is a tricky one - one kinda has to calculate all the salaries of each person working on the specific video while not counting hours while specialists working on other tasks(which they do). Writer/game designer usually start by writting a plot for a video, even if it's short, while trying to give concept artists tasks of characters and location that hasn't been detailed enough before - this stage can get reset and re-approved multiple times, then you have storyboard drawn, then you employ modelling -> motion artist -> post effects with the help of tech artist. Last stage is biz-dev, who decides when and where it will be shown and can send it back for re-cuts for different purposes.

Context for the cinematic trailer: Screamy archer lady had just finished burning a giant tree full of civilians down to the ground. The Alliance retaliated by attacking her kingdom.
The Warcraft movie was a good fantasy movie. What it wasn't was a good adaptation of the source material. The reason why it got slaughtered in the reviews is bc it didn't stay close enough to the game events it portrayed. Similarly to how the Halo TV show is a shitshow bc the show runners didn't give a shit about the source material.

Great reaction to one of the best cinematic trailers of any game in my opinion. I did play World of Warcraft from launch until a bit into Cataclysm, skipped a couple of expansions and got into Legion and stopped after Shadowlands. I enjoyed the movie a lot. It was a shame that it did not do well enough to continue making more.
A lot of people already recommended to watch more of Blizzard cinematics. I just wanted to let you know that if you want to follow the story you should look up videos where important in game cutscenes are added. I have seen quite a few people reacting to cinematics only and then they want to know more about what is going on, because going through many years of expansions in a couple of cinematics will obviously leave out a lot. But I can also understand that it is too time consuming to do.
Whatever you decide, I hope you have fun!

As someone who invests quite a bit into video games, I'm always a sucker for somebody else appreciating the art that goes into these cinematics. Sometimes they're made to bring in new players. Sometimes they're made for the existing playerbase to get excited about. Sometimes its both. I would LOVE for you to watch the Warframe Official Cinematic Opening Trailer and just absorb the vibes. After that, I also put in a vote for FFXIV: Flames of Truth. Its nine years old but man, still holds up. Re: the Warcraft movie - didn't do well in the US (numbers wise), eventually probably paid for itself in China where they loved it, probably watchers in the US don't like being confused there's really good movies like the Glass Onion that get bad reviews because people don't get them. The movie was setting up for a trilogy where the baby orc at the end of the movie would be in the next one because they were sort of filling a little hole in the lore of Warcraft between a few things and all the lore crazy fans recognized what was going on. And yes, as you guessed, you can play Horde or Alliance or have toons on both sides. There is an "All Cinematics" video out there but it doesn't actually contain all cinematics it's from a couple of years back and also starting in Battle for Azeroth they were producing a lot more cinematics and cutscenes each expansion. It's all up to how many you want to react to some of us crazy fans will watch reactions all day long (and I dont know how because we are also playing all day long and have some bit of life too).

in World of Warcraft there is really no "good or bad" side. but in this expansions (The Battle for Azeroth) the lady in the trailer (Sylvanas Windrunner) is the antagonist and is leading the Horde down a path without honor. The Horde and Alliance usually have a common enemy in the game and neither side has clean hands in their past. So you get to chose which side (or you can play on both) you want to swear your alliance to and the other is, in your eyes, the "bad guy". hope this helps!

well his expansion sure was some sort of char assassination for sylvannas. sure she was never a realy good and moral character but she always had her reasons and a solid reason to act her way. but here they realy went the extra mile to realy hammer into everyones head, how she is twisting her evil mastermind moustache without leaving any redeeming qualities for her behind

While there isn't supposed to be a good or bad side, Blizzard has been bad with making the horde look any good. Its a little better in dragonflight now that they finally past giving them an evil warchief plotline, the horde is legit full of races who have major skeletons to their pasts. The skeletons of the alliance pale in comparison to anything like what the orcs or undead did. The horde is a history of disfunction in general.

@@calronkeltaran493 the problem was they didn´t build it up properly. Sylvanas´ reasoning was explained in a side story to be read on the website and if you did, you understood that her actions did indeed fit her character. But excluding that part from the game was what put the fans of and let it feel like it came out of nowhere.

@@Tyarrk I know a part of it or to be more clear: I have heared of it but maybe you can fill some of my gaps here. the main gripes I have personaly was the siege of Teldrassil and the outcome of it. apparently there is also a book covering this story and it does a MUCH better job of doing so than the game does but it also seemed, that WOW retconned some parts of the story to make her more evil. noatlby how the fight vs malfurion went (in book she bashed him around and threw him into saurefangs axe as he arrived vs sourfang saved sylvannas with a backstab and felt guilty about it) and how the victims of the war where treated (in wow sylvannas didn't care about civilloians and sourfang did everything to lessen their pain during the attack while the book didn't mention it). finaly there was the burning of the tree, wich seemed realy random. sure sylvannas wanted to break the N11 morale but also wanted to take teldrassil as a bargain chip to keep the N11 out of the war and the alliance out of kalimdor. forgot how this was explained in the book.
ofc later we also got the infamous duell vs sourfang and her "the horde is nothing" quote that basicly came out of nowhere. all to make her look as evil as possible to the players for no reason

Oh hey, if you get into the WoW cinematics, there are like 4+ hours of HD cinematics and like 12+ hours of a bit lower quality story and stuff.
I've played WoW since 2004 so I am biased when I say I love ALL of their cinematics. If you want to get into it, I'd suggest you start from the beginning, the Warcraft 3 Cinematics then moving into World of Warcraft Classic -> The Burning Crusade -> Wrath of the Lich King -> Cataclysm -> Mists of Pandaria -> (All of the Lords of War and then the Draenor cinematic) -> (All of the Warbringers and then Legion + 'Rejection of the Gift') - > (All of the pre-Battle for Azeroth, Battle for Azeroth and post-Battle for Azeroth cinematics ''really good animation and story imo''), you just watched the Battle for Azeroth expansion cinematic and then the Dragonflight/War Within.
You will notice how much cinematics and visuals improve throughout the years, and if nothing else, the art team at Blizzard has been keeping the game afloat for a lot of the time. Just like any other game it has had it's ups and downs. I can't say I haven't spent stupid amounts of hours in it.
I always like watching people who have little to no information about the game/story react and try to make assumptions about characters :D
Hope you enjoy your time! Been subbed for a while so adding yet another *hopefully* series of yours that I will keep watching 👀
edit: to add on the Warcraft movie stuff, I REALLY liked the effects and animations the whole lot, however... As a diehard lore fan, they changed quite a few very important lore moments, that people who have read the books (like me) were kinda 'ehh', but as a movie I don't have any complaints, sadly it didn't make enough money so they probably won't make another one, and the game has been kind of on the low side these past 4-5 years, I haven't heard anything at least, but never losing hope maybe some day they will make a series or more movies or something~

YEEES, FINALLY WOW REACTIONS LET'S GOOOOOOOO, Please Luke react to all the expansions cinematic trailers, there is probably a video about it somewhere! So you can get in place, here is a quick resume of the WoW factions:
    Aliance (Blue):
    Humans
    Night elves
    Dwarfs
    Gnomes
    Huargen (werewolfs)
And a bunch more but basically what you would expect to be more "human-like" creatures
    Horde (red):
    Orcs
    Tauren (minotaurs)
    Goblins
    Undead
    Blood elves
    Trolls
Basically what you would expect to be "magical creatures" and a bunch of furries closely connected with nature
Then you have the "bad guys" like the Lich King, Deathwing (a dragon), and much more who are neutral like the demons hunters but there is just too much lore for a single comment...
There is (mostly) no good or bad between the Alliance or Horde, all depends on who is in charge at the moment.
Sylvanas (the elf you see in the video) is known to be an undead whom soul was split and only misery and hatred remained in her body, that's why her dark powers etc, she is also a "main" villain of the Shadowlands expansion and of course has commited mass murder of innocent people.
