Still dont understand why this album is underrated by many in the jazz field.
brings me back down memory lane when i saw him play live in montreal. i'll remember this concert forever.
Great late MILES album. It sounds much better than CD. Absolutely nicer sound. Thanks for sharing.😃
Superb album... this and Amandla are my favourite late era Miles LP's. Carlos (Santana) said it best, "He (Miles) is as important as Michelangelo, Stravinsky or Picasso" One thing is certain no one will ever eclipse his body of work in Jazz. He re-invented it and then kept refining it throughout his decades long career. A true Dark Magus!
It s the best Album, but a tribute to Jack Johnson,in a silent way, esp,we want Miles, porgy and bess, bitches brew are the best albums that my mother and father played on record when i was a child between one and six years old,i would have wished a cassette tutu and the man with the horn, but i can t have everything,i m glad that i hear them on TH-cam,since my cold it makes me beeing a good mood
His cover of Perfect Way gave the original a run of their 💰....🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I listened to that sound of the tape and the music of this album when I was a child and I did not imagine that it would accompany me throughout my life and will continue to do so. Thanks for upload this.
Same here. My dad played it loud when he was cleaning or cooking. This is music is a part of me and feels like home. I became a professional trumpet player myself, Miles is always in my heart! Thanks dad, rest jn peace.
As someone currently making their way through Miles' body of work for the first time, I gotta say, this is probably the best way to listen to Tutu. I'm usually not a fan of casette stuff, but damn, the audio balancing feels so much better here than in most uploads I've seen, the synths feel like they gel much better with everything else.
Thank you for your work.
there's nothing better than tape compression with some hiss sprinkled in, imho ❤
Had this cassette while on patrol USS Florida.
Recorded in early 1986 and released in October, Tutu was an album that had time on its side. It benefited from catchy, funk beats that sounded up-to-date yet avoided cliché. The various tracks could be upbeat and playful, yet Miles trumpet statements kept it grounded with a marked sense of purpose. The album had social relevance as well, with song titles-“Tutu,” “Full Nelson”-taken from the headlines of the day, referencing South African archbishop Desmond Tutu and anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela. 10:00

Excellent sound balancing. Especially got from a cassette release. Thank You for the upload.
Miles Davis biographer George Cole recalls the significance Tutu, regarded by many as Miles Davis’ last major statement, and talks to his main collaborator on the album, Marcus Miller
Although synthesisers had long been used in jazz, no jazz artist had ever made an album like Tutu. 0:01

Un genio del jazz y de la música. Cuanta creatividad
Not too many comments cause the people are speechless! 🎺😎
Full stop
brilliant!!!
MARAVILLOSO Y CONTEMPORANEO!
Chef d'oeuvre !
Para mi gusto, uno de los mejores discos de os últimos 40 años de la industria musical. El final del tema Nelson, Sumo(banda Argentina) lo copió la melodía y dice la letra, yo estoy al derecho, dado vuelta estás vos...
Amen.
Awensome
"the awesome power of the atomic bomb" 11:11 Incredibly incredible!
"Who knows what will happen in 20 years time? I have no idea, but it’s really beautiful to see that Tutu has developed.”
Marcus Miller in interview
In 1986, Miles Davis released the album Tutu, dedicated to Archbishop Desmond Tutu. 31:42
