Beautifully recorded and it works nicely with soloists. Compares only to the NBS, maybe better because of clarity and they really nail the best part @4:06.
If that's a Baroque flute you're playing in your profile pic, you probably know him personally, don't you? (Well, if you're in England.) If you search around enough for images of Stile Antico, you will find one of him shirtless.
It makes no sense to sing this piece with a quartett of solists. It lacks the energy in the initial Gloria and the final Alleluja. By the way is interpretation is not expressive.

The countertenor is divine.
Not crooning or keening, staying just beneath the texture... marvellous
Beautifully sung, and must've been a joy to sing for these smart musician-singers without all the hand waving in their faces. Bravi.
What a beautiful voice Caroline Halls has! The whole quartet is top-notch.
Bass has character and attitude
Lovely performance!
Wow, this is maybe even better than the Christ lag in Todesbanden on the other video.
And, again, it's probably the most ginger Bach on TH-cam.
Bravo!!
Grande la música de Bach!!!

Having just the four soloists amplifies the magic. This is one of those great recordings that jumps out to you as such.
SOLI DEO GLORIA🙏🙏🙏
Beautiful version!
So clear. Flawless. Perfect. What church is this?
The tenor is hot.
ok
Indeed
Churches in the UK don't have air conditioning and the chap had his jacket on

@@mwnyc3976 flute is a Rittershausen, Böhm system made in Berlin ca 1920. I'm in USA. Tenor - Jonathan Hanley is a hottie for sure.

What "Gloria"? You don't know what you're talking about. Keep your lame aesthetic judgments to yourself.
I can't agree. I think it works far better with a quartet than with a choir even of 12, let alone more.
Why do the players wear those ridiculous muzzles?
Do you mean masks?
Not the brightest bulb on the tree, are you.
