Alice, I'd rather go to Dollywood instead of Disneyland/world, too! And that area of TN is absolutely beautiful!

It has been many years since we were there, but I took my kids to both when they were younger...and I'd recommend Dollywood because it's much more family friendly. Rides more for kids than wild young adults. And plenty of sitting places for folks to just relax.

Dolly is not from Nashville. She is from the Smoky Mountains very near to where the park is.

I would LOVE, Love, love to see Dolly do a Reaction Video to this one! Imagine if some TV show Host invited her to be on their show and do a live reaction to "Two Brits go to Dollywood for the first time". I can hear her fun-filled laughter now, lol.

If you register through her program, she will give your child 1 book a month from the day they're born to year 5, to promote reading, learning, imagination and creativity. She doesn't want money to restrict learning. The house she grew up in, the ENTIRE house, is smaller than my Master Bedroom!!! She grew up absolutely, positively dead ass broke! When she wrote songs like "Coat of Many Colors" about her mom making her a coat out of torn scraps of cloth she found and it was worth more to her than all the other kids clothes combined.....she lived her lyrics!

The guys walking around playing guitars and banjos is because she didn't want music piped in, she wanted people to enjoy music the way she thinks it should be heard...live! So, there's just random people all over the place playing music, providing a live atmosphere and not a fake endless loop of noise.

    • @WolfsDE
      @WolfsDE หลายเดือนก่อน

That is a little reassuring for me. It would be sensory overload with a ton of music all of the time piped in. It means I can see and do things while not feeling overwhelmed.
People keep trying to talk me into going and having been to Disneyland, I know I can't handle the really huge theme parks. Nevermind Disney world or Six Flags or Universal Studios.
Plus I don't do well with roller coasters and high places where falling is part of the thing.
So, knowing that it won't be just sensory overload, makes me feel a lot better.
It is why I like zoos better. I get to enjoy animals (which I trust more than people) and learn about them and not have to get sick or feel like I am going to go into a full blown panic attack because of how much is going on.
Thank you for that. It helps me in maybe finally saying yes to going.

Dolly Parton has let rescue services use the parking lot at Dollywood for coordination and helicopter staging. Dollywood wasn't damaged in Helene, just closed down for the storm. The theme park donated $1M to the recovery efforts, and Dolly herself has pledged financial help to individual communities that she believes will need extra attention. She's a showman and a business person, and as much as I don't generally like country music, Dolly is also a truly, genuinely good person.

Dolly is just a magical person. When you think of an old, white southern person, the last thing you'd expect is someone who wants to give books to children, help out FEMA and other emergency services, and turn down a Medal of Freedom because it came from Trump, AND did it in the most polite, unassuming way possible. AND she has a sanctuary for injured bald eagles. It's a beautiful thing to see, and kind of revives my faith in humanity.

Agreed. As someone from Alabama who is really not a country music fan(crazy right…) I have no choice but to give Dolly her flowers on this. She is a truly incredible and stand up human being and I’m proud to call her a fellow southerner. Especially as an elementary teacher in the south her book program is incredible. One thing we can definitely agree on is that the Appalachians are some of the most amazing mountains on the planet

AliKai, Just so you know Dolly Parton has always been a wonderful philanthropist! She gave 1 MILLION dollars of her own money to help out people in areas hit by Hurricane Helene in the Pidgeon Forge Tennessee area with all the flooding and damages. Dolly is a Country Music LEGEND and an AMERICAN TREASURE. I have seen her live in concert in 2016 and she was fantastic! At her concerts, she has the power to make you feel like she is talking/singing directly to you even if you are in the back row! I am a big fan of Dolly Parton.

Dolly is a prolific songwriter with over 3000 songs to her credit. The huge hit I Will Always Love You that Whitney Houston sang was written by Dolly. She made Dollywood to help her depressed area in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. It resulted in lots of jobs for her area. She loves to cook so no wonder the food is good there. I want to go there. Love the lush background. Good one guys!

Dollywood is in East Tennessee about 4 hours from Nashville. Dolly is originally from the mountains in East Tennessee. She built her themepark there to provide employment opportunities for her family and other residents of the area. She is a true angel.

The trains at dollywood are both retired military trains. Their names are Cinderella and Klondike Katie. The trains were used during World War 2. They would travel across Alaska to deliver artillery to the west coast to protect our borders from Russia.
The crew are military veterans that take pride in up keeping these beautiful pieces of historical machinery

You can make popcorn in a regular pot. Just needs a lid. Don’t even need a spoon or spatula or anything. You put a little oil in the pot, a tablespoon or two depending on the size of the pot, then the popcorn kernels you can buy at the store or just open a package and use those. On medium heat you put the corn in, put the lid on, then start swirling the pot in a circular motion over the burner. You want to keep it moving so it doesn’t burn. Once it starts popping you can turn the heat down a little but keep it moving. Once popped, add salt and butter or whatever you want. Want to try kettle corn? There’s recipes online! You can even find the recipe to that cinnamon bread. Happy popping!

She grew up in Appalachia (the mountains) of east Tennessee. It has always been (and somewhat still is) a very poor area. Dolly has always been supportive of her birthplace. She built Dollywood to help create jobs for the area. They draw tourists from the thousands of visitors visiting the Smokey Mountains National Park. She is very highly respected by most of the country.

Dolly is a great woman - she partially funded one of the Covid vaccines (Moderna) through her Dolly Parton COVID-19 Research Fund. Saved countless lives.
They touched on the hundreds of millions of books she has distributed to support worldwide literacy.
Don't have to appreciate her music to appreciate her selflessness.

I just love Dolly's Imagination Library: Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free of charge to children from birth to age five, through funding shared by Dolly Parton and local community partners in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and Republic of Ireland.
Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write Dolly started her Imagination Library in 1995 for the children within her home county. Today, her program spans five countries and gifts over 2 million free books each month to children around the world.

The Imagination Library is a book gifting program founded by Dolly Parton in 1995. It provides free, age-appropriate books to children from birth to age five, with the goal of fostering a love of reading and promoting early childhood literacy. Families can sign up to receive a book each month, mailed directly to their home, regardless of income. The program has expanded internationally and distributed hundreds of millions of books to children worldwide.

Disneyland/World isn't even the best amusement parks in the country, let alone the world. One park, in my home state of Ohio, is ranked in the top 10 if not the top 5 of the WORLD just about every year, Cedar Point. It is also one of the OLDEST and some say most extreme theme park in the world. Here's a video of a few of your country people who visited it... Another in state is Kings Island.
