I had replaced the battery a couple moths ago and then the bass rattle started. I think I cracked one of the screw mounts in the battery cover during the battery change-out. Didn't know what the problem was. This video gave me just what I needed. The silicon fixed the problem. Thanks for the quick fix. Keep up the good work!
This was a great help, I replaced the batteries in two of my Charge 3's and noticed the bass rattle more so afterwards. I applied the sealant to the battery area and that fixed one of them but the other I discovered was leaking air around the bass end cap. When you change the battery you have to pop off one of the end caps which is not super easy. For me I had to pry it off which left some minor damage to the end cap (hidden by the cover). So after reassembling it was not air tight at the end cap. I applied the sealant to the end cap and tested for leaks, found a few still and once completely sealed the speaker works perfect. Hope this helps.
Please don’t break your speaker grills! The charge 3 was made in 2 different factories, and the grills on some of them come off in a completely different way. On some, you need to push the pry tool straight down into the seam, and if you do it right the grill will just slide off, no screws. Don’t try to pry up on the back section like this, because you’ll break the tab that holds the grill on! If your serial number starts with the letters TL, the way that I described is the correct way to disassemble. If your serial number starts with the letters GG, yours is like the one in the video. Don’t ask me how I know!!
@@Darieee Nah, I just followed other online instructions. Needless to say my charge 3’s grill is held on with tape now😂. Thought I’d comment here to save other people’s speaker grills from the same fate.
My cover went off completly, the battery expanded so much that it broke all the screw inserts… So now I just fixed the problem with some hot glue that I used to seal the holes, idk if I’m gonna even put the back cover back, works just fine without it, just waiting for the new battery to arrive and gonna put it back together, very helpful video, thanks!
Why not use drops of super glue to repair the cracks around the screw holes, too inflexible? Can’t really find small tubes of sanitary silicone but believe Shoe Goo May even prove to be superior in strength and flexibility.
You hear that noise precisely because the cover isn’t there. The problem isn’t the broken cover vibrating, the problem is that since the cover was broken, the speaker is not air tight. The noise you hear is air pressure (from the speaker cones moving in and out to produce bass) leaking out of the hole where the battery wires go into the speaker to the motherboard. With a broken cover, some of that air gets out and causes a buzzing noise. Notice the cover has a rubber seal, this is to make the speaker air tight and water proof.
That’s supposed to be a sort of pressure relief so the speaker cones/radiators don’t push out due to air pressure in hot weather. It’s designed to be completely water tight, but not air tight, but it should be air tight enough that it doesn’t cause a buzzing sound. That part is probably just a bit loose. I think it could just glue back on possibly?
i had the same problem in the same place 😂😂😂 im thinking in to put some silicone in the hole that the battery cable passes out, all the air leaks from there
Do you know that when I turn it on it makes a buzzzzz on the speakers. They changed the battery, the same one and it started working 10 points, but a week later it started making that horrible wasp sound again and at certain frequencies the same thing. I looked and looked and tried but nothing to make it sound good. But surprise, I loved it again one of the 10 times I did it and it started to work much better again, very rare!!! I calculate that it has to be without air, super well isolated from the interior. Maybe if I make some gaskets out of some material like rubber or leather, I can achieve this isolation again and it won't fail anymore. As close to the original material as possible. If that's the case, I'll let you know and leave the message here. Greetings!!!! I don't think I've found the solution, anyone has it, but I imagine the thing has to be super closed so it doesn't vibrate and works well.
2:12 "it has been fixed in the charge 4" me trying to find a video for this problem for my charge 4: "You sure about that?" No seriously though, you talking about the battery, makes alot of sense for my jbl, the charging, its absolutely sh!t (it takes atleast 2 days for one stripe thingy), and the popping-ish sound when kicks/bass hits... so idk if its fixed on the chrage 4... only had mine for ~2-3 years... UPDATE: I dont have any air leaking, or atleast not audible
well - it's fixed in the sense that the battery can no longer TOTALLY destroy the enclosure it'll still gladly die 😂 - but - given it's now a bunch of 18650s, a trip at your local vape shop will quickly get you all the needed parts to fix it ... or ebay if you want a fully wired-up kit ...
3:57 it happened to my JBL Flip 3 many times , even replaced the speakers 4 times 😆😆 until i said "NO MORE!" when i got the Flip 4 it seems the issue didnt return , even at full blast❤️❤️ seems they reinforced their drivers ❤️
Thanks for the informative video, I will try it out this afternoon. It seems no matter how informative some videos are there will always be someone that will gripe about something. I appreciate your explaining things and hope you continue to do the same in any future informative video's.
part 2 where I replace the entire back cover & battery : th-cam.com/video/1ynV_bZd0S8/w-d-xo.html
You have part II? Bro just stop talking too much so you can make a full vid 😆 😂
some people just need to be played on 1.5x speed...
Thanks for the tip
Helpfull

hello following a battery change my jbl sizzles, you have to redo the battery seal, right? I don't understand all of your English.
thank you
Thanks, 1st solution worked for me, bought new speaker
Listening to this on the same Box with the same Problem is kinda ironic XD

Thank you for the info. Can you please tell which type of sealant are you talking about? Liquid stuff, or some adhesive elastic tape?
I got my charging port repaired and I had same issue afterwards
What can I do ?
I really dont understand what the crackling has anything to do with the battery ? 😮

Wish I read this beforehand
aye dude thanks a lot - I'm correctly suspecting you were the mastermind behind this trap 🙂↔️

Thanks for this video. I had a problem with sound and at the end it was clearly caused by the battery. After replacement all works fine.

Good video clear. Can you tell me where you ordered your replacement batterie?
This video was very helpful, thank you for helping us out 👌
my jbl c3 is completely different. differnt battery, different case but i still have the same problem so mines a mystery
Had the exact same problem, was an easy fix after seeing your video🤙
Why not use drops of super glue to repair the cracks around the screw holes, too inflexible?

12:46sec..... if it was w/o the broken cover, why still "cracking sound"???

Hey I have a question my jbl charge 5 Frame us cracked and uts having this problem of the bass muffling the sound
What silicone sealant did you use or would you recommend
hello following a battery change my jbl sizzles, you have to redo the battery seal, right? I don't understand all of your English.
thank you
for the xtreme 3 is it normal to only get this while its plugged in and the charging port cover is open?
u mean the crackle sound comes from the beat is realted to the cracked battery cover or havent i understand this
you understood right 🫡
In my situation the air leak is from the net like thing between two speakers what is that net called?

Can u do one for jbl flip 5 every time I press down both of my passive radiator its sucks in the speaker but there is no crack in the radiator
can u please tell me where i can fin the cover for the usb port
i had the same problem in the same place 😂😂😂
im thinking in to put some silicone in the hole that the battery cable passes out, all the air leaks from there
yeah - the smaller flip has that square pass-through covered in silicone 🙄🙄
I wasn't wise enough to figure that out when I made the video I'm afraid

Bro was pumping air to find leak😂 7:04
What silicone seal did you use?
Nice one! Getting to it today
Thanks for the tip repair video❤
The silicone thing doesnt fix the problem it´s the battery. Regards!!!
glued mine with a smartphone glue, but still have leakage. man this thing starts to annoy me.
The speaker is waterproof without the mesh right?
yup

My charge 3 start to do this when the battery was a 0% then never sound normal after ( like in the video)
yeah .. li-ion cells do expand when they sit at low voltages .. makes sense
My JBL starts to lagg when i higher the volume
Got that problem too same thing
The charge 4 isn't a stereo speaker
Nice man I subbed!
This vid is so sexy thank you
I hope I can fix the jbl charge essential I got for $18 at the thrift today using ur advice

WHY DONT YOU JUST FIRST REPLACE THE BATTERY BEFORE YOU SEALED IT WITH SILICONE GLUE..YOUR BATTERY IS DYING...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hadn't received the replacement yet 🌚
since this video I have changed it though ✌️
dude I almost shut the video off lol
🤦🏻♂️you got me mad 😡 bat later I laughed 😅
why not use a 3d printing machine to create another cover its ez
would STILL need silicone to ensure air tightness .. and .. as of right now I unfortunately don't have one ☹️
Muppet Video!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂 I love this guy!
Too much talk, 30 mins for a simple job!! Get straight to the point son!!!
ah but this is also entertainment - not the service manual made by the HARMAN GROUP
