Thanks for the tips Andrew! I just started studying for FAR today and your tips have made my studying much more efficient. I plan on finishing all my exams within 5-6 months before I start full time at my firm next year. But, man FAR is very daunting to study for with how much material is in it.
No problem! Glad to hear that you found my study tips helpful :) I think it’s definitely doable to finish all four exams within a 6 month time frame and I definitely advise you to finish before you start working full time. Congrats on getting a full-time offer btw! FAR does cover the most amount of information but once you get FAR out of the way, the other three will seem a bit easier. Good luck studying!
Thank you so much! I haven't yet started the study process and actually took notes on everything you recommended. This might seem obvious, but would you recommend scheduling the exams in intervals as I go through the study process? For example, if I plan on studying for 6 weeks for each exam, should I space out scheduling each exam 6 weeks apart?
Hi @@andrewseong2! So I’ve been following your advice on doing a chapter a week (I work FT) and completing MCQS. After going back to the stimulations and running through all of them, I’m confused how you managed to do 1 chapter a week. I feel super behind because there is so much to cover. How did you manage to do complete multiple choice, stimulations, and a chapter all in one week?
Hey in the Becker sim section should we study from the solution key or the solution given in the skill master video answered by expert faculty ? Which one should we stick to ?
No problem Jay Dee! I actually did not use the flash cards at all when I was studying or reviewing. I focused more on the practice mc questions and sims because that is the format of the actual cpa exam. However, the flash cards and the final review booklets definitely can be a great resource to go to if you find yourself doing poorly on the practice mc questions or sims.
Glad the video was helpful! I would definitely say that from my experience, the multiple choice questions on Becker are a little bit harder than the ones on the actual exam. Good luck with your studies!
@@daihuizizhu3194 Yeah good question. I mainly focused on the multiple choice questions, practice exams, and reviewed the simulation questions and that was enough for me. If you would like some extra practice and review, Becker's flashcards and final review booklets are a great resource
Hi Andrew, great advises that you provide! Question for you. You did the sims after finishing the chapter or after finishing each module? Let's say a chapter has 6 modules, you would leave it at the end of the sixth module? Correct me if I am wrong with what you did Read the module, then watched the lecture, then MCQ's. You would do this for all the modules. Then at the end of the chapter you would do the simulations and do the marked questions. If I get the question right, then this goes unmarked while if I get it wrong, it stays marked. Does this sound about right?
Hi Raul, yes that is exactly correct. By no means do you have to follow exactly what I did, but that method worked well for me. However, I definitely recommend to mark any multiple choice questions you get wrong as this will make it much easier for you to review quickly and effectively later on.
@@andrewseong2 Hi Andrew, I do want to follow what you did. The only thing that I plan on doing slightly different is doing some Personalized Review at the end of each chapter. I really like your method and have it written down on a microsoft word template. One other thing. How many times did you go over the multiple choice questions and when answering questions it's best to do it with no notes on the side right?
@@rplayer77 That's a good question! I went over the multiple choice questions until I had no more 'marked' questions because that shows I answered all the multiple choice questions correctly. and for the most part, I suggest not using notes when going through the multiple choice questions. However, if you are really stuck on a mc question and want to look at your notes, you can. BUT, I would then mark that question even if you get the answer right because you would still want to review that question again during the review phase since you weren't able to get the question right initially without any help.
@@andrewseong2 Here is another one Andrew. Let's say you got a question correctly the first time and knew the answer right away. Did you ever do unmarked correct questions? Probably not, right? Your strategy is awesome because it doesn't look like you did these questions over and over. The only time that you did a question again was when either you got it wrong or if you got it right and were unsure of the answer.
After finishing cpa exam what is the timeline to get to apply for licensure? It’s possible to gain experience after completing the cpa exam and what’s is the timeline to acquired experience
Hi Kat, I applied twice to complete all 4 sections (2 exams per application). However, if you believe you can finish all four exams within a 6-month time frame, I would definitely apply for all 4 sections at once so that you don’t need to pay multiple application fees.
@@andrewseong2 Thanks for the reply! What was your timeline like from when you first applied and when did you start studying? How many months did u study for FAR compared to the other sections?
My initial application for the first two sections took several weeks (about 6-8 weeks) to get approved and I only started really studying once I did get approved. The FAR section on Becker has 10 chapters and I studied about 2 chapters a week with one week to review, which was about 6 weeks in total. The other sections have slightly less chapters so the timeframe on those were about 4-5 weeks.
Hahah yes! Not scheduling my first exam prior to studying was definitely one of the biggest mistakes that I learned from...FAR covers the most material so I would definitely suggest to schedule your exam before you start studying so that you don’t procrastinate on your studying :)
Hello ! How do we check which book version is applicable from when? like if i am planning for regulation early next year .. i have 3.5 with me .. online its 3.6 but got to know that 3.7 will be applicable for 2021. how can i decide the right version of book? please advise.
Hi Anu! One thing I recommend is to delay shipment on your books until you plan to take that exam within the next 6-10 weeks. With that being said, Becker typically doesn't make many drastic changes from one version to the next so it really shouldn't be too big of an issue. Hope this helps!

Great video man. I start studying for FAR tomorrow and hope to get one exam done before starting full time at Grant Thornton mid September.
Thanks Marco! And that sounds like a good plan, getting FAR out of the way prior to starting full-time will be huge.

Hey Andrew! Just started my journey, thanks for your tips. At 2:43, are you referring to the skills practice questions per module? Thanks in advance!
