Varnishing or sealing an artwork is up to the artist, but not required for R&F Pigment Sticks. If you do choose to varnish, you can work with any oil painting varnish or sealer as long as the Pigment Sticks are entirely dry.
Drying times vary depending on a number of factors. Our Pigment Sticks are just like tube oil paint with a touch of wax to keep them in a stick form. Like oil paint, some colors dry faster than others. We discuss this in more detail on our blog. Here's a link: www.rfpaints.com/unique-color/2021/2/8/ask-richard-drying-times-for-pigment-sticks. Drying time can vary considerably. The variables include: Color (some colors are slow driers like some of our blacks); Application thickness (thick applications dry slower); Substrate (surface); Humidity (humid conditions cause slow drying); Temperature (warmer temperatures speeds up drying); and UV Light. Ambient light helps speed up drying. The use of R&F Blending Medium with Drier could also help speed up drying time. Hope that answers your question! Thanks for watching.
