    In Canada, before conditions become as bad as this, there are always a ton of salt trucks on the road to make sure this doesn't happen. In Texas, seeing this is extremely rare, I don't expect drivers to be prepared for driving in this condition.

      1. don’t go out if not necessary.
      2. keep your distance and slow down.
      3. no sudden breaking or turning the wheel.
      4. when you start fish tailing let off the gas. feet off the break. steer towards the direction of fishes tail. don’t over do it just small adjustments to correct it.
      5. once you’ve regained control pull over to the side and calm your nerves. this might be a good time to check yourself and the passengers if they shitted themselves.
      6. if you can’t do step 1-5 stay home you’ll only endanger yourself and others on the road.

    • @sean2015
      @sean2015 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I live in Fargo, and driving on icy roads really isn't a "skill" you can develop (especially if it's black ice). I guess the only thing I've learned from living here is just to drive more slowly, and try to anticipate ice based on the temperature and presence of precipitation such as snow, sleet or ice. 4WD vehicles are obviously a great investment but some people can't afford it. I keep a shovel in my trunk to dig myself out in case I wind up in the ditch (which I've actually had to do once, after I skidded off the road at a cloverleaf). But plenty of times I've seen cars that are in the median upside down, with the lights on and the wheels still spinning. Even people who live here don't know how to drive during the winter, lol.
      I've also got a homemade 'winter survival kit' in my car which includes an extra jacket, hat, gloves, a blanket, matches and some candles. Enough things to keep me warm while waiting if I ever needed roadside assistance. Our winters here are no joke.

      sean2015 I’m born and raised just north of George Town Colorado in the mountains, so it’s safe to say I know winter driving wether it’s snow, slush, sleet, ice, blackice or wind and I can promise you that winter driving is in fact a skill. Knowing your car and how it reacts when it loses traction and how to correct is is something you learn very quickly when you drive in it enough. The guy in the video lost traction, panicked then locked his brakes and over corrected. It’s a common mistake a lot of young or new drivers make up north.

    Taxes are lower in Texas, _____ and a part of the reason is that they do not spend enough money on salting and sanding their roadways during and after such storms. In states such as NY and NJ where ice and snow storms are more common the taxes are higher partially because the roads are far better maintained during storms and we do not see many multi-vehicle pileups on our highways in NY or NJ.
    So basically what Texas is doing is risking drivers lives and causing many wrecks of their vehicles on unsalted and un-sanded icy roads to save tax money.

    LOL.......Only the bridge is icy, Northerners would have just gone along normal speed and just made sure to not touch a control while on the ice. Also if I was spun out on glare ice and wanted a quick 180 I would've fully cut the wheel and hit the gas.
