Even if I'm completely off on my interpretation of this MV (I'm not that well versed in phantom of the opera and some of the potential references that were made, plus I don't know WayV's lore), it was absolutely incredible, I love this chorus so much! The vocals & visuals (not just of WayV, but as a whole production hehe) were amazing!
WayV are by far my favorite NCT unit. Everything they release is so dramatic and over the top. I LOVE the big strings, powerful belts, crazy visuals, and overall scale of everything. When they release a love song it's the gushiest love song, when they are sexy they are the sexiest, when they are dramatic they call to mind Spielberg. PLEASE check out more WayV.
WayV has a very different approach on their songs as the NCT Units do, the instrumentals are way higher and complex than NCT 127 and Dream so its a completely different dark atmopshere, its just amazing how NCT Units are so different from one another.
If you are interested in WayV's lore, they are basically seven gods. Their group name in Chinese (Weishen V) stands for god as well. And the V stands for vision...a common theme across all their videos. Their lore is tied to that of the larger NCT lore but also has its own dimensions which you can see in the other mvs. Overall their vibe is a lot of dystopia, a world where everything is destroyed...the storyline is kind of like another world where everything is destroyed and all that's left is the 7 of them. And you are spot on about Take Over The Moon. That's the name of their 2nd mini album. And the title track was Moonwalk (do check it out, their lore will make a lot more sense then) Flying and flights are another common theme, again pointing to them being other worldly and pointing to them being world hoppers
This was such a good summary!! I'd add that time is very tide to their concept too, usually portraying them as some sort of time travelers and talking about time limits.
Imo they're the NCT unit with the strongest discography, you should watch their previous mvs, masterpieces. After two long af years they're finally here. Thanks for the video!!
Also the most talented among the other unit... Vocal: xiaojun, ten, kun. Dance: Ten, winwin, yy, lucas. Rap: yy, hendery, lucas. Visual : Lucas, winwin, hendery, xiaojun
@@nazzakim3049 well, all of the units are pretty talented, all of them are pure talent. That's why the only thing I said hits different is their discography, imo the best and my fav
this is SUCH a difficult song to sing, let alone do this crazy choreo with it. good luck to the guys when they perform it live! thank you for this reaction and review
Because WayV -- which stands for We Are Your Vision in English -- or Weishen V in Chinese -- which means "gods of vision" in Chinese -- is part of NCT, NCT's whole dream concept is also part of WayV's storyline and concept. As with everything NCT does, it all has to do with dreams, dreaming or something to do with being in a dream state. Some fans who are into SM group theories have also speculated that NCT's storyline also connects to EXO's and SuperM's storylines. Currently, there are 7 members in WayV: Ten and Lucas debuted first as members of NCT-U and they are also members of SuperM; Winwin first debuted as a member of NCT-127 and NCT-U, and Kun -- the leader of WayV -- originally debuted as part of NCT-2018; and Yanyang, Xiaojun and Hendrey debuted specifically as members of WayV at the beginning of 2019 when WayV was formed. > Kun -- the one with the red hair -- is the oldest and a lead vocalist. > Ten is Thai, but his grandparents are Chinese and he attended an international school in Thailand where they spoke English most of the time, so he is fluent in English (He is the NCT member who is fluent in the most languages -- on top of being fluent in Thai, English, Korean and Mandarin, he is also learning Japanese); he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and a center of WayV. > WinWin is a lead vocalist and lead dancer (He is trained in traditional Chinese dance and attended one of the most prestigious dance academies in China. He was also admitted to a very important dance program at University -- Similar to the Chinese equivalent of Julliard.) > Xiaojun is the main vocalist and the one with the high notes most of the time. > Hendrey -- the one with the crazy eyes -- is from Macau China, so he also speaks Cantonese; he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper. > Yangyang -- the blond -- is the youngest and he is Taiwanese, but he lived in Germany for a while and attended an international school, so he is also fluent in English and proficient in German; he is the main rapper. > *Not in the MV. Lucas is Chinese-Thai from Hong Kong, so his native language is Cantonese; he is a lead rapper, vocalist and the visual of WayV. (However, as you may know, due to a dating scandal and other controversies Lucas has been on hiatus for more than a year now, with no indication as to if or when he will be able to return to NCT.) The only reason why WayV doesn't have NCT in their name like the other NCT sub-units is because, at the time of their debut, there was a lot of political issues between Korea and China, and because of that Korean companies were not able to work in China. NCT's Chinese sub-unit has been going to debut for years, but with all the political issues it took SM a long time to find a way to work around all the rules the Chinese government put in place to prevent its native Chinese citizens from working with anyone associated with Korea and preventing anyone who was working with a Korean company from working in China. So in order to circumvent some of China's restrictions, SM found/created a Chinese company that was willing to take on NCT's Chinese sub-unit, but also allow SM to have a say in the group's concept and promotion activities. Part of how they get around the rules is they gave the group a name that distances them from their Korean roots. (That is also why WayV's Chinese fans are called WayZenNi instead of NCTzens and why WayV has their own lightstick design that is different than NCT's, etc.) The company WayV is under is called Label V which is part of SM, but separate from the Korean branch of the company and it produces songs in Mandarin to keep the Chinese government happy. All the members of WayV also speak Mandarin and have some connection to Chinese heritage, but most of the members are not native mainland Chinese citizens, so this gives them some immunity from the Chinese government. But they are representing China and they are promoting Chinese culture, so the Chinese government kind of turned a blind eye to the fact that they are technically still under a Korean company, as long as they hid any connection to their Korean company while doing promotions in China. As you can see, not only do the WayV members speak, Mandarin, Korean and English, but they are a very international group that speaks many languages. So, pretty much all of WayV's songs are in Mandarin with a few English lyrics and words mixed in. (Except when it's an English version, such as "Bad Alive" or their all English version of "Love Talk," or their song "Miracle", or if you happen to pick the Korean version of "Turn Back Time.") LOL Because WayV is the Chinese unit, but they are releasing music in Korea and promoting in Korea, not specifically in China, SM is more likely to produce their songs in English. Hence, why several of WayV's previous songs are English songs, because -- due to the pandemic, political issues, Lucas being on hiatus, etc. -- they aren't promoting as a group in China right now. I think it helps SM avoid any crossover issues with Korea that might make it more difficult for them to promote in China.
WayV has my overall NCT bias in it with Yangyang (the blonde guy). And that's mostly because he lived in my city of Düsseldorf for six years. He's one of the very few idols who speak fluent German :D
this was amazing! WayV's strength on their title tracks was always that epic-ness and how full the choruses sound, so it amazes me how the producers are able to present that on different genres by using the strings and guitars
I loveeee how you understand what phantom means on a personal level and not just through the musical. It’s very apt and you really got the essence of the song! Thank you for your in depth thoughts on the song! The epicness of the vocals and instrumental pay homage to the musical and some visual elements but i think the real meaning of the song is exactly as you said! Beautifully done! Thank you!
I was waiting for WayV sooo long and I'm so happy seeing that their comeback is on another level 😍 Visuals, vocals, dancing.. AMAZING! 🧎♀️If you want do more WayV reactions I recommend you Love Talk or Bad Alive 🤩
WayV never have bad songs. I normally just vibe the melody but this WayV album lyrics hit different. They hit right through me. Please react to more WayV songs.
All the songs of Way V group are very pleasant to listen to. They are my favorite group in this NCT, and their styles are very diverse. I hope you can reacting more of their songs
When you said Take over the moon you just mentioned Wayv's album Take over the moon with title track moonwalk and set in dystopia so you are not far off. WayV's lore the way I see it will always be connected to the moon as their name weishen v pertains to powerful beings (or gods sort off) Phantom references POTO in a way that the opera house was controlled by phantom and is the villain of the story. Wayv's phantom is a metaphor for the control that was on them (various sources like people, society etc like you've mentioned). The song was all about overcoming this 'phantom' the way Christine got out of the opera house. The chandelier of course is a highlight in the opera as well as here, signifying the fall of phantom. The heart in chains, as i've read in twt, is kind of referencing Kurapika from Hunter X Hunter. And he was chasing Phantom Troupe who murdered his clan/family
Loved your reaction as always, WayV is my favorite NCT sub-unit and it is, unfortunately, such an underrated group. This comeback is one of their best, I hope that people like it and recognize them more. And you just made me go wow when you said on minute 11:56 that " 'take over the moon' sounds a little bit strange", because that's literally a line of one of their past songs called Moonwalk. You really made me wonder if that's a throwback to the past release. (And I'm getting a little scared of how far your interpretation abilities have reached, now you can even guess lyrics you haven't seen yet 😂)
Would rather say they might not be as popular because they are supposed zo attract mainly the chinese audience. I am just saying that this might be why they are "underrated" ? My fave unit is DREAM but I am new to them so maybe it will change. For now and from what I have seen my bias might be Xiaojun he captures my attention.
I was about to beg in the comments of a previous video for you to react to this but you're always a step ahead 😂 This song exceeded all expectations, I think it's the best song WayV has released so far and I absolutely loved the lyrics and your interpretation Another WayV song I'd recommend is Moonwalk Keep up the good work 💙

I always love your reaction and thoughts. I'm hoping to see more NCT and specifically WayV please because imo, they're the most unique NCT's unit. Their MVs are another level of masterpiece and artistry.
I've watched a TON of reactions to this performance, and you are THE ONLY ONE who actually "gets" the message of the song. KUDOS! You just got a new fan! Thank you for explaining the storyline of this song SO WELL. I wish more people understood. ❤
WayV are incredible and have such a depth of talent. I couldn’t wait for this CB and I wasn’t disappointed. They came back and said okay take notice because we are back. BTW I loved your reaction 😊
Thank you very much! Good analysis. Not many guys are really trying to understand a song and see an MV's quality in all the aspects: melody, lyrics, message, vocals, dancing, visuals, production
If you wanna know the concept of this song Phantom, I recommend you to watch the movie of The Phantom of Opera. Really, like the chandelier, the candles, the thing that looks like boat, etc,. I just don't understand why is there a throne? (looks like an iron throne of Games of Throne). Lol! Anyway, I am happy they're back again.

Aaaah thank you for your input!! You grasped their concept very well, actually. Love to see your reacting to Wayv, my parasocial little brothers 😭💖 if you're interested in their lore, I think @blazingbrown1951 summarized it pretty well here!
By chance heard Xiaojun’s mesmerizing voice and looked up information, becoming biggest Way V fan. Check Leemujin Xiaojun singing Ashes and live performances my first was Chinese New Year’s concert amazing experience
WayV is definitely my NCT unit of choice. They tend to have more mature concepts. If you want more kpop tracks with that epic operatic quality like the chorus here I'd recommend Pentagon's bside Game as well as BAP's Sky Dive and One Shot. WayV's Moonwalk also has a similar quality to it.
👍🏻 I subscribed because I like how you interpret the MV pls react to more WayV, they are the supreme NCT unit but doesn’t get enough attention for their amazing talent, they’re not prioritized by SM because they’re a Chinese unit not KPOP, they get no promo, so we as fans have to keep pushing 👍🏻
Rap line's deep voice rapping is so dope. Hendery, Yang Yang and Winwin really slay their parts. Xiaojun's vocal and high notes really elevates the whole song to a climax. Kun has also improved his vocal. Really nice to hear their rapping and singing without weird accent and stiff pronunication❤
"an absurd revelation of something fake" they are calling out all those jobless haters that act like fans but are antifans, sassaengs that will bring down any of the members any given time... like what they did to Lucas
The boys did so amazing as expected! But I'm having a hard time truly appreciating this because of the fact that SM won't tell us what's going on with Lucas. It's not right how they are handling this situation. Lucas should be here. Nevertheless the song is great. It's very WayV but darker and I LOVE that darker feel!
@@twilightdream I'm not sure how much you know about the Lucas situation but this is pretty much it in a nutshell (a lot has happened) Sasaengs got Lucas under fire of seriously ridiculous allegations - (gaslighting and cheating but the things they described weren't even gaslighting. If he is guilty of anything it's of being a shit boyfriend but that's none of our business) - literally the day before they were to release their unit song Jalapeno. So SM canceled that and put him on hiatus August 2021. Antis took that opportunity to make things worse by saying there were SA allegations (when of you read the original allegations there was never SA mentioned) and people clung to that and it made things worse. News outlets NEVERRRR mentioned SA because it wasn't part of the og allegations. SM made Lucas write a very generic apology and released it (before the SA rumors were even a thing) but SM had yet to issue a statement on what is going on they are leaving everyone in the dark about him. Which is making it hard for me personally to appreciate this comeback (even though it's ofc amazing) because of the huge elephant in the room. Lucas should be here.
@@LUMI_MBB_STAY wow. I knew some things about the situation, but not a lot. Seriously sucks how this whole situation’s been handled, and I feel really bad for Lucas.
@@twilightdream Me to. I'm so proud of the other boys and they deserve the world. But for me Lucas brought me into Kpop. So the fact that this is happening and SM has done NOTHING to let us know what's going on pisses me off and makes it very hard for me to truly appreciate this comeback even though it's incredible! Lucas deserves better. WayV as a whole deserves better. Whether he leaves the group or not they need to issue a statement and stop leaving it to the antis to make the situation worse. They are leaving it to peoples imaginations at this point. Fans have disproved A LOT of the actual allegations already but of course antis don't care because they hated him to begin with so they are using this as their opportunity to make it worse and spread more hate for him... and it worked.
They keep playing hot and cold with us. Making weird teasers about a mysterious person in the training rooms (when we were all aware of winwin being back for months now). The pictures with members doing 🖐✌ signs, NCT account suddenly following OT7, SuperM dance practices being released, only to crop out Lucas in fanmeeting pictures, and not making him come back. I lowkey hope they'll make him leave WayV and debut in another NCT unit if he has no future in China

Check Leemujin Xiaojun singing Ashes and live performances my first was Chinese New Year’s concert amazing experience
haha yes, you made loads of sense
i lovee ur reactionn
They did it for the goths. The vocals were both devilish and heavenly
Yessss his name is TEN cuz he is 10 out of 10 ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Please react to WayV Diamonds Only track video
👍🏻 I subscribed because I like how you interpret the MV
pls react to more WayV, they are the supreme NCT unit but doesn’t get enough attention for their amazing talent, they’re not prioritized by SM because they’re a Chinese unit not KPOP, they get no promo, so we as fans have to keep pushing 👍🏻
🔥🔥🔥
Rap line's deep voice rapping is so dope. Hendery, Yang Yang and Winwin really slay their parts. Xiaojun's vocal and high notes really elevates the whole song to a climax. Kun has also improved his vocal. Really nice to hear their rapping and singing without weird accent and stiff pronunication❤
I like your reaction moer WayV pls
"an absurd revelation of something fake" they are calling out all those jobless haters that act like fans but are antifans, sassaengs that will bring down any of the members any given time... like what they did to Lucas
Our King are back♥️
The boys did so amazing as expected! But I'm having a hard time truly appreciating this because of the fact that SM won't tell us what's going on with Lucas. It's not right how they are handling this situation. Lucas should be here. Nevertheless the song is great. It's very WayV but darker and I LOVE that darker feel!
I also love songs with this type of dark sound, also why I really liked 28 reasons from seulgi. And I’m also wondering what’s going on with Lucas.
@@twilightdream I'm not sure how much you know about the Lucas situation but this is pretty much it in a nutshell (a lot has happened)
Sasaengs got Lucas under fire of seriously ridiculous allegations - (gaslighting and cheating but the things they described weren't even gaslighting.
