Keto Diet. Cutting back to 2 meals a day and a daily 18 hour fasting period works wonders!!! I lost 40 lbs. in 4 months without really trying. Wasn't hungry, didn't feel deprived. Takes a couple of weeks to adjust, but works wonders. Good luck on your weight loss effort! Love your fabrics and can't wait to see what you make with them. Like you, I've wanted to get my colors done. However, at 64 yrs. of age, I now seriously don't care what colors look good on me and what doesn't. I gravitate toward deep, rich jewel tones, so that's the direction I go. Life's just too short to really worry about that others think. l noticed about 40 yrs. ago that I can't wear bright turquoise. Gives my skin a sickly yellow color hue, so I avoid it. Other than that, I've just worn whatever I like and whatever makes me happy. You should, too! You're a very beautiful woman. Your inner beautiful shows on your lovely face. That's what really counts!

Well there you are being adorable again, celebrating all things sewing, family and travel! Love it! Thank you for mentioning me in your Vlog. Hugs from Oregon again. So weird to think that I was in Dublin eating breakfast just three days ago! You no doubt feel the same way about having been to Turkey. YAY for you and your family. Wish that I’d had more money when my kids were young to take them traveling to a different culture. We used to go camping a lot when they were young. Oregon and Washington are awesome places to go camping…

You’re my favourite sewing TH-camr . I always look up your videos when I’m going to make something, you give lots of hints and tips and tell it how it is. I want my colours done too so will be interested to see how you get on . I’ve grown my colour out so am a kind of salt a pepper grey, after being similar to you. Anyway thank you for the videos, looking forward to the next one x

I am so there at the moment too . Nothing in my summer wardrobe fits me either , very sad about a few of my fav dresses 😢. I can’t wait to hear how you get on at the colour consultation, that sounds amazing. ❤

Hope you enjoy your colour analysis. I had mine done today and now know that the a fair amount of the fabrics I have chosen in the past plus my make up are not the colours that flatter me. It was fascinating. She put a lipstick on that I would not have chosen in a million years and at first I thought I wouldn’t wear it. At the end of the session and with the make up that was right for my colour I had to buy the lipstick as it looked so good on me. I now need to buy more fabric in the right colours - win win

Makes such a difference to clothes shopping and now fabric shopping too. Looking forward to seeing how you get on. The colours of the top you are wearing today look lovely on you by the way. I got my colours, make up, and style done when I was 26 (I'm 62 now😅) and it was wonderful. My brother gave me a gift certificate to have it all done, while I was still in the hospital after having given birth to my son by c-section (just when we feel our most pale , most bedraggled and confused since our bodies have just gone through the biggest change of our lives, and in my case, I felt my ugliest too). It was probably the nicest, most thoughtful, and touching gift I've ever received in my life, all the more so because my brother came up with it completely on his own, and he is high functioning autistic (as a rule, they tend not to be able to recognise, empathise and hone in on the feelings of others. He hit the nail on the head with this gift). I turned out to be a rich, deep, tawny Autumn for colouring, and classic town and country for style, and it even came with an hour of shopping with the consultant to find examples of clothing that would look the best on me, and having my make-up done afterwards. It was amazing! The funny thing was that before having my colours done, I always dressed in summer colours, with an occasional bit of spring added in, which were probably the worst things I could wear. Now looking back, it was likely because I wanted to disappear and not stand out or be noticed (my insecurities of youth). Now I love wearing my colours. And you would love this one- she told me that one of my best prints is animal print. Lol.

I feel you with the weight thing and the not knowing quite what I want to make. I've bought a few nice summer things off Vinted and that's made me realise what I want to sew because they're the things I'm reaching for every day, not my handmade cotton dresses. I'm loving viscose midi dresses and light trousers with tshirts, so I'm going to make a midi Lyra dress, maybe an Indigo and some TATB Safiya trousers. My weight has changed a fair bit over the last few years so things with elasticated waists and tie belts are my friend! It does make me sad though as I have some really beautiful cottons in my stash, but they're realistically what I want to wear at the moment.

I think you have amazing style! I had my colours done about 15 years ago and it was brilliant. You can literally see how the different colours affect your face. I’m autumn which I was a bit disappointed about as they are really not the colours I’m drawn to - but I just aim for the ones I do like in that colour palette, and it’s quite amazing how people say ‘you look well’ when you wear them and I look less washed out in photos. However I still wear the colours I love too, because life’s too short not to! Thanks for the lovely vlogs, I find them so inspiring. Except I was listening to this one on a dog walk this morning and tripped over a tree root while looking at fabric you held up 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

When you have your colors done… they will tell you that you are a Winter. Lots of Royal brights, & icy tones too. White is better than off white. Silver better than gold.. (but I love my 14k) Universal business colors for all are Coral, Camel, Navy, Turquoise, Of course Navy & Turquoise will suit you better. Let’s see if I’m correct. 🤞

… loved this heartfelt chat Ruan ., 💙.. we always need a pause to reassess our needs and wants throughout life , change is growth , growth is living … I literally just got my colours done (online color guru ) and received my swatch this morning in an email … I am a twilight (deep) autumn … and like you just bought fabrics that I liked , two or three weeks ago I started sewing up a light baby blue button up shirt and it’s been just waiting for the sleeves to be finished , I could not understand why I had lost all my mojo and it was right after I’d put the collar on and had a fitting , I did not like it on me .. but put it off to just being too tired to finish and walked away … now I know that my colour palette does not include any pastels or light colours at all , and I’ve gone through my closet wearing only autumn colours for the last week and getting comments from my co workers , who now want to get their colours done too., it makes sense to me that with all the work that goes into actually sewing our own clothes they should look absolutely fabulous on our skin tone as well .. I am so excited to see what your colour is , wonder if they would let you record it for us to watch here on TH-cam ?? … anyhow lastly body weight is such a personally vulnerable journey , thank you for sharing it with us I wish you well .. I eat a vegan diet and intermittent fast for 22-24 hours a day eating one meal only ( one really big meal ) ., I am 48 and had been over weight my whole life and once I went vegan at 33 I lost 145 pounds and never looked back .. my tip is choose a lifestyle YOU can sustain and not what you think works for others … good luck 💙💙 as always , it’s like chatting with an old friend … great big Canadian /Portuguese hug to you Ruan xoxo 💙💙💙

I had my colors done and it has helped me understand what looks good on me. I seem to have no insight into what I should be wearing, either in colors or to compliment my shape. In the program I did, I’m a Moonlit Summer, so cool muted colors look best on me, no red, brown, black or beige. I’m very fair with light blue eyes. I once had strawberry blond hair but it’s turned white. So cool blues, purples, certain pink’s, raspberry, sage greens. Navy is my black. I find I can wear something non-Moonlit Summer on my bottom half, and wear the cool colors on top especially near my face and I’m not washed out. I also say, if I like something, I wear it.

I had my colours done years ago (probably about 20/25) money well spent and still have my swatches. I’m autumn colours and no longer wear black white or pastel colours near my face. Makes shopping for fabric so much easier as can hone in on the ones which you know will up lift me rather than wash me out. Enjoy ❤

Getting your colours done will be awesome to see what suits and will allow you to be more mindful with fabric shopping. I just got the "colours" app and 12 months on I have been much more mindful in what I get. Style consultations will be great too. It will also help you to see what styles really flatter your body now and when you've reached your goal- speaking of which, 'I've been intermittent fasting this year and it's been working (me being 47 with all the hormones doing crazy things I "fast like a girl" and I've managed to shrink the body!) You still eat, no restriction just have a designated "eating window" and it's great. I think it's a really goo thing that you have decided to really focus on sewing things that are going to be worn. I've been doing that myself - I live in jeans alot of the time because I'm on the farm working with livestock so a dress and heels is not required. I have been focussing on making clothes that I can wear to work off farm - I'm training to be a teacher's assistant as a sort of career change but not really and so I'm making things that I can wear at school. With the style consult you can find out what your signature style is and go with what works within that and that will also increase the likelihood of the garment being worn because it's your style. I can't wait to see what you find out and discover.

When I had my colours done, my consultant wrapped my hair up in the 4 different whites that suited the 4 different seasons for colouring. Once my hair wasn't visible, she could concentrate on how that seasons colours looked on me. I turned out to be a deep tawny Autumn. The hair shouldn't dictate your colouring, your skin tone does. Hair colour can always be changed. Colouring my hair black wouldn't turn me into a winter, but it might confuse someone trying to do your colours.
