I will say I remember feeling confused I followed the original making up the first Moonchild for years she had an instagram dedicated to it as she was beginning to make it and gather images and she had originally labeled the Moonchild as the shadow deck of the Starchild and then that got dropped and then suddenly there was this new deck which was then listed as the shadow deck of the Moonchild. As you said totally whatever the creator wants it to be and evolve into but remember being a little confused by all these slightly different editions.

Exactly I was confused also could have swore. It was billed as a book of shadows and dark moon deck, and then it became moonchild.

I love your full moon/new moon take on these decks and I will use them this way. ❤

Thanks for the comparison and your insights. I have both decks and think they are both beautiful. The shadow deck is closer to what I originally expected from the Moon child after the Star child decks. I was surprised that there were not more original cards and think the filtering didn't always work to create the desired effect. But both decks are very beautiful and I'm not sure which one I will end up working with more.

It seems like we landed in a similar space!

I started to do a comparison walkthrough Also. But nixed it because I felt like it was the same deck and I could not give it any more enthusiasm than the original. It actually started sounding negative. So I decided not to, post it?

I love your suggestion that we can work with both differently, for new moon and full moon. I have both also, and the decks definitely have a different vibe. I had an imperfection on the Dark Veil card, and Danielle immediately replaced my deck. Excellent customer service.

I am so glad, and not surprised, she took care of it quickly for you, that is an amazing card!

I’ve watched a bunch of different comparisons of these two decks and still haven’t purchased the Shadow version 😂 I have the same reservations that you do because I absolutely LOVE the MoonChild… but the are several cards in the MoonChild that I don’t like and they unfortunately were not redone in the Shadow version, and then there are several cards from the Shadow version that I don’t like and prefer the MoonChild versions 😂😂😂 There also appears to be several cards in the Shadow version that seem to belong in the Oceans Oracle and don’t fit into this deck. I heard these things happened with the StarChild versions too.

I have to say that I have ended up using the Shadow Version since I've gotten it and enjoyed using it with the Oceans Oracle in healing readings. I agree, though, on the issues O.o but have loved it!

I don't have because it costs a fortune ordering from overseas. I live in Germany. But I wanted it so badly! 😭

I‘m from Germany too. There’s an onlineshop for indie decks in the Netherlands… 😉 I‘m not into advertising but this might be a solution for your “problem” that I know very well.

I prefer the Shadow edition over the original Moonchild therefore I sold it, I do not need both. I also like the Shadow edition card stock better, much thinner and better at riffle shuffling.

I have to say that I do love the thinner card stock as well, it riffles well for a large deck! I can't image selling my original as it is well loved but I'll be interested to see if I start reaching for this new one more or not!
