I think the mother wants to know what indications his child if he has ashtma or not, couple of times she ask this question but the nurse keeps giving thesame answer. As Nurses we have independent nursing function and we dont rely on Doctors for all procedures, she could have said the sign and symptoms of pt who has an asthma attack like restless, DoB, irritable and so on. Anyway thank you for posting

In oet speaking, you will be given a task to fulfill. It maybe stressed in the task whaat are the things to be said and to be done. You could not just say anything you want, you have to follow the task by communicating effectively at the level of your patient's understanding.

I think you've got the Speaking section, and possibly the whole of OET testing, wrong. It is NOT a measure of your professional skills. I even believe the interlocutor specifically mentioned that in the instructions. I think the examinee actually handled the child's mother's concerns pretty well, although she does have many linguistic errors.

@@laralamp9295 Aloop does have a point in that the nurse should have gone a bit more (even if just a bit) into detail regarding her opinion on whether the child has asthma or not. In the OET they have their specific tasks laid out on their roleplaying card, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't also include other things from their experience.

I thought of that too, She didn’t really answer the question of the mother.. I was thinking to answer like “Asthma isn’t something that I can’t confirm right now, however you are right with the manifestations of asthma like difficulty of breathing and wheezing, but by looking and assessing your child, he is in a stable condition and does not have any of these symptoms” I don’t know if this is a correct response
