With Ryan's th-cam.com/users/postUgkxy_pn55PK60wAV3X_C_RoLS_67mNonoCE plan, I was like one taken by the hand and led step by step from start to finish. Thank you very much Ryan!
I love it when I start watching a video with my usual cynical preconceptions and by the end am smiling like a goon at the wonderfulness someone has done. Thanks.
Sometimes a simple swing in a person's life can make an unhappy person feel like there's some light in the world. Maybe some uplifting of the human spirit can lead to someone making a breakthrough in their own lives to avoid a lay off or avoid losing their home.
keep up the good work. We need more like this. Yes some kid might fall off one. Yes some kid might get hurt. Yes some kid might..... well you get the rest. Kids take chances. part of growing up. Let the kids have fun.
00:52-00:55 I ride my bike over that bridge all the time. Great little community right there. Atwater Village... great breakfast burritos... Right off of Los Feliz boulevard by Riverside Drive behind the tennis courts, If anyone cares who's in the area
I actually really want to do this in my town. Its inspirational how many people actually used them. I want to see that same thing happen where i live. I think i'm going to try this.
You can think of better ways to help people with $1k? Really? THEN DO IT!! I love this project. If you watch the video you can plainly see how this brings people together. Makes families closer. It also spreads a little happiness. Those swings might be the one silver lining in a crappy day that causes a person to break. You never know.
@NYBuildings I don't exactly know what it is that you do, i'm an architect, and yes, maybe a shelter would be better, but it doesn't mean it is more important. Part of helping society is actually making them happy, now, you may not find a good use for a swing but most kids will, being happy aviods deseases and stress, wich actually leads to a better society, a shelter is just a temporary "patch", changing the mood of a city is an actual solution
What a fun and sweet thing to do for our community. I'm not sure how it classifies as hipster art but even if it is, its a kindness to remind people to play in a world where fun usually requires a DVR.. I am so sad to see negtive comments, especially ones tha t express concern about who is at fault when someone breaks their neck...has our societ become so litigious and paranoid all people think of when they see a swing is "DANGER!!!" followed by "Who can I sue if I get an owwie?"
There are swings at MacArthur Park that would clearly support an adult's weight. Yet adults can only use them if they are accompanied by children. OF COURSE, I understand that allowing the homeless adults who live at 'McCrackhead Park' in the playground would make it thoroughly unpleasant. But as a woman grieving pregnancy loss, it just twists the knife. As I walked past the swings, I keenly remembered the physical thrill I would feel in my stomach as I swung back from a great height 30 years ago. If I was wearing my baby boy on my chest, we could enjoy the swing together. As a small infant, he would probably fall asleep. But as he got older and entered the "delight" phase, he would screech with unabashed joy at the fun and pleasure of the swing. I have no children to bring with me. Nor am I "with child," so the fun of swinging will have to remain a distant memory for me. Just like the very brief life of my embryo.
@TheNynjspider >see a dozen swings installed >complain about the two under a bridge and a pier Sorry they didn't have a person sit in front of the camera and explicitly explain it, but perhaps it was to illustrate the fact that most areas can facilitate a swing, not to point out the practicality of having them in those places.
I'm wondering where are the warning stickers not to hang yourself, swallow parts, use without crash helmet, consulting your physician and that they moght contain nuts.
Looks great, even if those swings doesn't seem the safest ones in the market to me, my inner child is saying "who cares?" and my inner pessimistic is saying "the ambulance"
@theslyder Ouch. I'm not saying ' no swings. EVER.' but I do think there is some value in ' thinking like me', as I'm sure you'll understand since you already know how I think, being an expert on my thought processes and having summed up my personality from a comment. Engineers, city planners, anybody who ever builds anything and others may do EXACTLY this, spending a bit of time thinking about just these kinds of things, maintenance safety factors etc.
You know what this is a great project. People that are trying to get through to unknowing people of the real purpose of this video, wont sat no names. Just leave them alone. Ignorant people that think this project is not a good one is a waste of time

Damn, those long-lined ones look frikkin' awesome! Wish I lived in LA...
This made me so happy I was tearing up. :) Thank you.
I love it when I start watching a video with my usual cynical preconceptions and by the end am smiling like a goon at the wonderfulness someone has done. Thanks.
I love swings before, love em now. I believe I can flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Great idea! Swings are such fun. Love the ones over the river. Nice shot of the girl with the plane taking off, too!
Isn't it amazing how something so simple as a swing can instill so much joy in so many people?
Ohmygosh. What an amazing idea and video!!! I especially love the big ones off the bridges. Extremely awesome.
this video reminds me how the power of our childhood can really influence our world today. Great project guys!
2:00 Looks fun.. really long and relaxing swing. ^__^
just saw 3 of these swings in Griffith park today. gave me much joy! so many people using them.
the one at 2:44 would probably be my favorite :D
The world needs more swings.
youre never to old for swings
I love the song, "Perpetuum Mobile"! I reminds me of the movie "Mary & Max". :~)
This is... poetry, I had a smile through the whole video
World needed those people.
The name says it all, this is an awesome project, nicely done.
Did I see one of these on Craigslist?
my faith in humanity is slowly becoming restored.
@TheNynjspider
The bridge one looked awesome. It had a super high swing range and could be swung on above water.
I'd love to be on that seaside swing so much.
Awesome! I hope you guys can keep doing this forever!
someone recently did this in my area. it was at the upper bluffs in toronto, canada. the other morning, i spent about an hour swinging on it.

Who in their right mind would EVER dislike Swings?!?
that just put a smile on my face

this is fantastic and should go on vimeo
I wonder is the one in Santa Monica beach is still there...

I cried. :-) Thanks.
Yeah, I know those places! Gonna make sure to check under the pier for that swing
what pier is that swing on? i really wanna go swing on it :)
That made me warm inside..
keep up the good work. We need more like this. Yes some kid might fall off one. Yes some kid might get hurt. Yes some kid might..... well you get the rest.

did you guys do the one in runyon canyon?
@SuperTimmac - what are YOU doing to fix all those problems?
so thats why the song sounds like avicii- penguins, this song is by Penguin Cafe Orchestra
@Ekolius I was wondering for a minute... hey I know this song, but from where?! Then I remembered, Mary & Max! What a great movie.
Once I saw the guy try out the swing I couldn't help but think of being a kid on a swing, and smile.
Great job, thanks for uploading this!! I love the two underneath the pier and the bridge... :)
@NYBuildings Do you live in LA?
@TheHounds35 Is it bad that the same though crossed my mind? (When one breaks someone is getting sued)
I actually really want to do this in my town. Its inspirational how many people actually used them. I want to see that same thing happen where i live. I think i'm going to try this.

@mikesbaker
This does make a difference. Far more than $1000. worth of help for one person. This makes the city of LA a better place to live.
Lord bless you all.
Can u do this in Pittsburgh?
Does anyone know who plays this version of the song, and not the techo remix thing by Avicii ಠ_ಠ
@Amoney444 Why is that the first thing you thought of? ... and do you know what kill-joy means?
@bobbawon that may be an unrelated rash, however that heavy warm feeling has subsided :)
this is a beautiful idea! awesome job guys
Which song is this?
after a while won't the rope begin to tear though? Yea it might be a long time, but when that day comes, these swings won't be there anymore :[
they should do this everywhere!
Mary and Max soundtrack?
@nemzz9st then tell me, which city do you think it's better to live?
What a fun and sweet thing to do for our community.

seriously what song is this
the world is strange. i just watched mary and max for the first time about an hour ago and then this music is from the theme song..
If you like swinging, then you should visit Estonia. Their swings are huge :)
I'm not going to lie, that swing underneath the boardwalk looks pretty awesome.
PLEASE DO THIS IN NYC
was this illegal?
come to my town and do this i would love u forever
Use this song and occasional still images to make anything you're doing seem like a heartfelt adventure.
This video was really good.
@tomardern perpetuum mobile by the penguin cafe orchestra. Perfect montage music.
This is awesome. It's really awesome.
@c0mbineelite Why did you go there?
time-lapse videos set to perpetuum mobile are always awesome.
It is really touching to see people actually enjoying the swings. The music is beautiful too, is it Penguin Cafe Orchestra?

Is that Matt Walsh from the UCB I saw in the first 30 seconds? What's he doin there?
@TheNynjspider

so what happens when someone breaks their neck on one of your illegal swings?
If they break would you guys be held liable?
song?
I want! Come to NYC! :D
Has anyone found these yet? I want to swing!
youre so lucky to have tiger woods featured in your video
THIS IS EPIC!
beautiful
The swing under the docks was pretty fucking cool.
@NYBuildings why is it easier for you to see the negative and not the positive from this vid
This looks like a job for Leslie Knope from the Parks and Recreation Department.
There should be more swings in every town.
Looks great, even if those swings doesn't seem the safest ones in the market to me, my inner child is saying "who cares?" and my inner pessimistic is saying "the ambulance"
the beach one was sickk

@McWill256 I don't think I've ever seen a school playground that didn't have swings...
i told my firends that vi have to do it in skellefteå/sweden so i hope they will help me do it
