    Hard to believe there was a time not too long ago, you could go to the hardware store, and in rural NC, a grocery store and buy dynamite, by the stick or by the crate.

      My grandad now 87 still talks about his daddy building ditches 200 yards long with dynamite! My whole family is from Nanatahala, NC and my great grandad was a powder monkey on most of the roads that were built in the 20s to 40s in Western nc

    Jerry was the guest speaker at an Exxon safety dinner my husband and I attended back in 1980. We laughed so hard we had sore ribs the next day! I will never forget that night!

      @@elrodgene921 I always sensed a lack of sincerity/genuineness in George’s singing to be honest I don’t know why, it’s just an intuitive knowing. He is my favorite country singer ever or singer regardless of genre all time though still.

    Jerry Clower was a great American and an exemplary man. He'd be heartbroken to see what America has devolved into. Let's hope we can return to a semblance of sanity in the coming years and reclaim the country Mr. Clower loved the so much.

      The closest Jerry ever got to "blue" humor was "A New Bull" and "Steel Marbles," but there still isn't a curse word to be found in either, just a wink and a nod.

    In WWII my Dad's unit fished with hand grenades. It works.

    • @grantgarrod2232
      @grantgarrod2232 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In every war-torn place in the world where there's hand grenades, poor, hungry people, & a river, there's somebody fishing that way, as many a serviceman can attest. It's a decent way to dispose of that stuff fairly safely, & feed everyone in the process. A "sporting chance" is for we lucky ones that can get skunked, & still go home to food in the pantry. Folks that are scrabbling for their next meal will bend those rules into a corkscrew if it will fill their bellies, & if I was in their shoes, I'd be volunteering to pitch.:)
