Having moved to bass (from guitar) recently and still liking the guitar range, hence I looked into piccolo bass and I ended up here (though I do play slow). Looking at De Maio's instrument makes me think of those good old plectrum banjo, whereas I don't have the requirements Joey faces, I think that bass string spacing is too great. The issue is not that much for the right hand but for the left one, lot of people do fine, plucking with picks, finger or slapping on their five strings, it makes me wonder if manufacturer should consider normalizing the bridge string spacing to five string standard (16.5mm seems like the most common size). Not as radical as the choices Joey De Maio did but it would allow for all the common play-style on bass (some guys crush it on 6 strings with 14mm strings spacing). It feels like bass guitar were designed for giant playing the double bass, I might be fine with a bass / plectrum banjo hybrid (I suspect others too). I love the bass all fourth tuning, but I also like tuning more amenable to chord fingering, people like F A C E I can see why, I enjoy E A C E that it seems nobody uses. It really is E A E with a C string thrown in between like C G B D is C G D with a b string. It feels really like a little guitar, and there are nice chords to playing all over the neck like on banjo but the tuning is a lot more noodling friendly than say standard plectrum banjo. End of my rant, I'm not really into Manowar, though that is high quality content watched two videos in a raw.

If you want to play faster than Batio: 1) buy a spinning reel, 2)put 2 picks on it 3)put the construction on your guitar and realise that you are still slower.
I made a computer program in highschool in the 90s and I would click a mouse. Given I was a great guitar player even back then I could only hit 12. On a guitar it's probably half that! If you can hit 6 that's something like 300 per minute. Very fast!
What are the exact notes you guys are playing? Because there is no "F#" in G mixolydian. Which is the 5th degree mode in the key of C Major. Michael says: "We go up and hit the flatted 7th"? The 7th note in G mixolydian is F and "flatted" F is E? Which is already in the scale? Maybe he meant something else?
@@realjoeydemaio Thanks for verifying that. Yes that's what I thought the notes were playing along with it and watching you guys' fingering patterns, that would be 16 notes per beat! I'm practicing it! In 2002 I played a composition The Phoenix at 20 nps after the intro, all alternate picked, 200 bpm, 6 notes per beat. During the solo I do a descending 4 octave scale on 7string guitar that briefly peaked at 26.5 nps. That piece had all kinds of velocity details in it with melody lines and was written out in the description and played on some guitar sites. But since then I didn't think people cared about speed anymore since there are so many great players out there and on TH-cam that have speed and technical capability, that may have at one time or another reached plateaus even if they weren't officially measured, you can hear it. But 30 nps is a new challenge as a summit, and since it's a 16 note ascending-descending scale pattern and not a piece, it focuses on speed in a linear, tight and rigid fashion within a smaller space. I wouldn't have thought of that scale arrangement or bpm, quite honestly it's brilliant. I would probably describe it musically as: "F# Locrian With A Flat 8th". Because the "8th" note F# isn't played again as the octave on the run after it starts, and F is. Or can be described: "G Mixolydian With Augmented 15, Starting On F#". Since it does go G to G full scale with the standard key C major notes played, after the second octave sharpening the 15th note would give F#. Anyways those are descriptive details, but: "Things Are Only Impossible, Until Somebody Does It"!
wow, that all sounds fantastic. Congratulations. I’m glad to see that now you finally understand it’s really just about having fun and pushing ourselves. Very cool response. Thank you.

Thank you.

Joey, can you share with us the specs?
This is not the new Aluminum Monster. It's not finished yet. Stay tuned for more progress reports
I have the need for speed. Why? I have no idea and have no need to fight it but to embrace it. ----------- Yeah I love Iron Maiden a lot but they don't have the type of riffs and speed that I sometimes need. That's where Yngwie or Manowar comes in. With Batio in there, it's gonna be a blast of fast blazing Metal.
Thank you brother will you found a home here with us please please comment like and subscribe for more stuff and more fun. We’re going to build a great community cool people here with your help.
How fast it is possible play the unplugged guitar? I' ve seen some videos on TH-cam, may be someone has anything interesting about this topic. By the way, Manowar comes to the speed of light.
Good question I have no idea but I’m sure there are plenty of people out there that are having fun trying to do that as fast as they can. Thanks for your support please comment like and subscribe and tell your friends to join us.
You and Michael are made to be in a band together. After Ross he is by far the best Manowar guitarist.
Manowar going up a notch in shred speed. I always felt that Logan was too bluesy for Manowar style. Joey's pick for Angelo is meant to be.
