Aw dang, really? I'm stuck on passing the last chapter ;n; Any advice for beating Sephiroth? I can't live past his last phase where he does that move that does like 9999 damage to everyone lol Reprieve helps but I can't last long without running out of mp or not getting an atb bar fast enough to heal ripp

Here’s my build for Cloud: Lvl 50
Weapon: Hardedge, fully upgraded (except one linking together the last two materia)
Armor: Chain bangle
Accessory: Götterdammerung (must do every Colosseum and every Chapter 17 exclusive Shinra training simulator battle, last of which is Three person team VS Top Secret-that is, a string of powerful summons and Pride and Joy) This will let you Limit break at the beginning of battle, and will charge limit even when not taking damage. Be warned: Bahamut and Ifrit duo of that last challenge is harder than Sephiroth, so you’re gonna need great materia. Here’s Cloud’s materia build:
2 maxed-out HP up
2maxed-our MP up
Steadfast block
Maxed out revival
First strike (get 1.5 ATB at start of battle)
Summon: Bahamut
Maxed out healing
Maxed out Parry
Maxed out Luck Up (increases critical hits)
Ascension limit break

Fully upgraded, though last two materia aren’t linked

Method: The key is to use as little MP as possible when fighting the Arbiters of Fate/ boss Whispers. Instead, switch between Cloud and other party members all the time. Bash away at the Boss Whispers with everyone getting up their ATB, and every time someone with prayer has a full gauge, use prayer. Spam it.
When you get to Sephiroth, you’ll start with full limit break Cloud. Unleash Ascension, and if Tifa isn’t there yet, throw in a Triple slash or two until she does.
When Tifa comes, throw a manawall on Cloud. Continue switching characters, building up ATB. Whenever Tifa has a full gauge, cast prayer. If you absolutely need to heal with Curaga, do so, and if someone dies, always cast Arise ASAP.
When Aerith comes, you can cast Manawall on the whole party. If you want, throw in a haste with Tifa, but you don’t have to.
I always use Triple slash because it’s best at tracking and not missing.
That’s pretty much it. Keep your manawalls up, and if Sephiroth looks like he’s about to do the big attack that reduces 1-3 people to 1 HP (if they have reprieve) get healing as fast as possible.

Also: When trying to get Gotterdammerung, switch Cloud to have linked Elemental with Ice in his armor, or Shiva will be a very unpleasant fight- she’s much harder in the special chapter 17 challenge.
@@LadyAneh Oml thank you so much!!! I really appreciate it and will definitely try that!! Yes I need to do the last Shinra simulator battle still, along with max out a few more HP and MP ups, but that's totally do-able, thanks!!! Perhaps the main place where I went wrong was ignoring barrier materia oof, but yeah Aerith's second limit break should help with that a lot. Also I must have gotten too complacent with weapons, because all of them have their last one such as Purple Pain and Twin Blades (I think that's the name lol) and etc. so trying different ones completely will help, I'm sure. Awesome of you to include what weapon upgrades you had and your strategy too! Yeah so far I've just been going through and making sure I have all the manuscripts before going back into chapter 18, cause I managed to miss 2 in wall market in my first hard mode play through along with 2 in chapter 17 due to the last two combat simulator fights (the mystery one with pride and joy and also the one with Aerith by herself lmao).
