    Black carbon leads to melting of glaciers which further results into GLOF ( Glacial Lake Outburst Flooding ). For example - Recent flooding in Sikkim in the Lhonak Lake.

    Black carbon particle are in large numbers are deposited on the ice because of the black colour absorbed more heat and it will reduce the albedo effect, and ice melts large numbers.

    Black carbon particles when deposited on the glaciers, results in the absorption of more heat and reduces the albedo effect. This increased heat absorption leads to ice melting, rise in water level, GLOF events, flooding in small islands etc
