I have often wondered how the families would support the children. I'm glad this new law is in place, I think all the states should have it.

I think that's an EXCELLENT idea!
They should implement that in all 50 states!

How are they going to pay child support when the person goes to prison for vehicular manslaughter???

Whatever change they earn from their prison job counts. They should also take whatever commissary they get and turn it over to the victims. When they are released, whatever money they earn. It won't be much, but at least the drunk won't be able to keep it.

    Wow. Could it be… JUSTICE!
    I’d vote for that.

Jobs are hard to find for someone with a felony conviction. Curious to see how this all plays out.

Great law, but for all those who question how likely it is that the types of people that commit this crime'd be able to pay I think it's meant more as a deterrent than a punishment, although as a punishment it's got some MAJOR teeth to it!

I’m not opposed to the payment for their actions but who is going to pay for the payments? The tax payer?

In theory this is an excellent law. There are idiots who will go out, get drunk, and still drive. Many of these types of people will not have enough income to pay out child support. There will be ones who cannot get a job, will do odd jobs on the side, and live with friends. Some will move away and not register their new address, and so-on.

What happens if it's an illegal who was driving and doesn't technically care what happens. Who is going to pay then

This is a perfectly simple idea. Why hasn't this done before? We saddle men with 18 years of CS for the crime of having sex. This is prefect.

And pre tell when did us Texans vote on this? Because we live in a constitutional Republic unless the people voted on it, its unlawful. And no, representative voting on our behalf does not count as a vote of the people.
