    What a delight!! At first, I was a little taken aback at how “old” this video was, but on second look, it is chock full of invaluable information for those newly coming to the instrument. Sally’s explanations are clear and concise, educational and very informative. There are three of her videos that I can find, and they are all excellent! Unfortunately she passed away, which is is a great loss to the organ teaching community. How lucky are those who studied with her. I have yet to find other instructional videos that are as clear and concise as Sally Cherrington’s videos. Thank you Sally for your valuable insights in explaining this wonderful instrument!🌺

      Kirk: Even though you do not have an AOG pedal keyboard......every pedal technique can be used on your 25 pedal keyboard. However, it is one thing to see a master demonstrate as Salley does, but quite another to master what she so easily performs. Her keyboard skill is only acquired after YEARS of serious drill.

    I am too old now to learn how to play anything but a radio, but I think the best way to learn is by doing one thing at a time. Like if you learn to drive a car, you first learn to steer it, then how to control the speed, then how to brake. After all that is mastered, you combine it all so you can work all controls at once. This is just an example. One seldom learns to drive a car that way I know. I watch these "how to" videos just to get an idea how much talent is needed to play an organ. Amazing. Nice instructional video too.

      The link to the Scorser file is in clear breach of copyright. GTB died in 1987, so even where copyright is 50 years, the work is not PD until 2037. Where copyright extends to 70 years, the Variations at copyright until 2057.

      @John Opalko The Church that I play on Sunday Mornings has that Specific Console. It's a 1983 Allen ADC 5000 Organ, Tab Version. They brought this Console with a Set of Big Speakers with Cabinets for the Choir's Music books and Sheets. It was Delivered to the Church in January 1999 while Removing their Old worn out Pipe Organ. First they removed the Pipe Organ Console and started Removing all the Brass Pipes and Bringing the Allen Console and Speakers to the Organ Loft. We have to face away from the Altar. I would pair this Organ with a 1988 Yamaha PSR-36 Keyboard.

    Her comment about Left Foot only Pedal playing is really only relivant to Traditional Church and Baroque Organ playing, or in situations where the Bass line is elaborate or you are playing a Melody on the Pedals.

    • @uriahpeep9036
      @uriahpeep9036 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmmm.....You must be hearing something that is not in the video.......no where does Sally even mention left foot ONLY playing......but more to the point, your entire statement about left foot relevant to traditional church......or where the bass line is ......playing a melody on the pedals......IS ABSURD. BOTH feet are required in all of these situations......trying to play a melody line with left foot only is ludicrous in the extreme........it cannot happen. So......now that everything you say is a complete fabrication, there is ONE type of organ playing where the left foot ONLY is used........and that is when playing in the theater organ mode. There are several reasons for this......pop music (theater organ) is highly syncopated and would not ever require a legato pedal line. The other reason has to do with the nature of theater organ music......the player must have his right foot on the volume/expression pedal since this type music demands very rapid volume alternations to give the emotional impetus that is required.

    • @glasss1978

      can't even imagine playing a church organ with left foot only, it's like trying to play it with left hand only. i can see jazz organists playing with left foot only with the right foot on the expression pedal constantly, but that just doesn't work with classical music.

  • @wtb1949
    @wtb1949 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    IMHO, she needs better pedal technique. Diane Bish can play complex pedalling with just the left foot without out hopping around like this.

    Sadly, this video is actually at least 12 years old as this talented lady died of cancer at about 51, in 2012. What a shame that the good die young, but scumbags like DJT seem to hang on forever.
