That's terrifying. I finally divorced my husband in 2020 but we had been separated for years. He became completely awful and racist after the rise of Trump's toxicity during Obama's presidency. I am on disability and I walked away with nothing because I couldn't afford a lawyer. I was able to do my divorce papers free through the court but it took me nearly 2 years. But, ultimately it was worth it. I'd rather be happy and free even if I'm poor. If you have to hide who you vote for from your spouse then it's time to just get out, that's a sign of control. My son had the opportunity to become a Canadian citizen and to move he & his daughter to Canada just after Trump won in 2016. I'm so thankful he did.
