The Bangtan Universe (BU) involves a fictional storyline that has all the BTS members playing their own character. These characters have their own backstory, but they all connect in some way. If you see certain scenes or symbols repeating in BTS' music videos, that's because fans concluded the story involves time travel and alternate timelines.
(First and foremost, the Bangtan Universe story is fiction and has no connection to the BTS members’ real lives. The characters are fictional and played by the band and have the names of the members. But nothing that happens in the BU actually happened to BTS.)

Actually, for title songs like Fake Love, I recommend you watch the MV before reacting to live performances because these songs have very meaningful lyrics, Fake Love especially is one of their most cinematic MVs so I really recommend you watch that (no CG). These music shows are actually ways for Kpop groups to promote their new songs then they come out hence it's called a "Comeback stage" and honestly the production of this stage is nothing compared to some of their most recent shows on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. I recommend you watch the BTS week performances from the Tonight Show. They were pre-recorded due to the pandemic so they really went all out on the sets and the production. There's even a behind the scenes, they rented out a palace to perform as well. For the Dynamite performance on the BBMA's last year they rented out a terminal of the airport.

ah, love every performance of Fake Love BTS does... this one was kind of a chill version by comparison lol:) They killed it @ the Billboard Awards performing Fake Love (you know ARMY was loud!) - and the contrast of seeing some major music artists and execs who didn't initially know BTS at the time having their minds blown was fun to watch! They were doing that LIVE, Its what is called a BTS STAGE (FOCUS); the cameramen only focus on BTS and stage; you can hear the audience cheering and fanchanting thoughout the performance even though you cant see them.

Yes BTS preparations is always advance, like now they’ve just released Permission to dance and dropping different performances live of it, but RM mentioned in his recent vlive that they were filming downstairs something for us , maybe its a new episode of Run BTS their variety show.
Also they are working with Coldplay..so even in this peak of permission to dance , they are still working for something, even in last quarter of 2019 , their agency announced that There more Western artist calling for appointments to work with BTS, but BTS is schedules for 2020 and 2021 is full.. It means even the pandemic strikes they were working..
