I know this is way after the fact, but I'm so impressed by the Surprise Squad (you all do a terrific job!), and I love the myriad reactions you get from the recipients. In this round, I was especially touched by the young man laying in supplies because his son was coming for a visit, adding that he didn't have a lot of time with this dad when growing up, so now he's trying to make it the best he can with (his son).

As me being a home maker I find it very pathetic each n every day to fulfill all our needs. Once a month I buy major groceries n many more things. The bills are quite high. Whom to tell to. Still I manage...for this is what I am known for. I would always love to save some money from my monthly expenses. In saved money I cook some extra food and give it to a needy people. I do it regularly. This gives me immense pleasure. Monica I am not rich by money.. of course my mother has taught us to serve food to the needy so rich by culture. fox 5 I was just watching you guys on you tube I see you guys giving to others but for someone like me for some reason It just dont happen for me I wasnt able or capable of being there for my daughters all I want out of life Is to see them happy my youngest is somewhere outhere staying with so called friends or a boyfriend as I wrote in the comments before they were 8 and 4 years old when thier father killed himself 2 years later they lost me to drugs Im clean now and have been for a few years but I know my daughters are still heart broken over thier father and crushed by my addiction they got a bad start In life and the only thing I want Is for them to be completely happy even If they dont want me In thier life I just want to be able to know that at least they are happy I have enfazema rhumetoid arthritis gout a lower back injury and a car thats falling apart so i cant go out to find my youngest to let her know she was and is worth more then she gives herself credit for and as for my oldest she seems to believe that I somehow abused her I do have certain family members who let her know she is wrong but a family member who was mad at me for leaving made sure my daughters hate me If I could go go to family counciling I am more then willing I really want my daughters in my life I was raised believeing that when a family cant be there for what ever reason the others are to take over for that person who is having problems what ever the problem is so if you can come up with a solution I would consider myself to be the luckiest and happiest person in the world .
Give your daughters time. They might be angry and acting out now but they WILL come back to you if they see you being strong and looking after yourself. You are their mother and nothing will change that but you need to earn their trust and affection back. Make something of yourself, show them that a bad start does not mean that there has to be a bad ending.
Random acts of kindness don't always involve money. Do you know any kids at school that don't have any friends? If you do, you could try befriending them? I don't earn a lot of money but every day when I go out for lunch I buy the local homeless guy the same thing I get. While I don't advise that you approach homeless people yourself, just be aware that there are people around you that have it a lot worse than you do, just don't ignore them. See the world for what it is and when you are older try and do a little something to change it.
You guys should come down to potomac, Maryland because it's expensive to live down there and there is really good schools so a lot of big family's with a bunch of kids are living down here.
Could have taken the boys shopping and then sent them home in a taxi or arranged to have the groceries delivered to them. That would have been pretty cool.
