On July 3, 2024, HE Chhun Puthearith, Director General of the General Department of Technical Affairs of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, led a technical team of the Department of Hydrology and River Affairs to inspect riverbank landslides in Stung Trang District, Kampong Cham Province.
On that occasion, His Excellency the Director General and the technical working group, with the participation of the President and the professional officers of the Department of Water Resources and Meteorology of Kampong Cham Province, as well as the local authorities, inspected the riverbanks at 4 locations in 4 communes of Stung Trang district, Kampong Cham province. Kampong Cham are: 1) Boeung Kachot village, Prey Kak commune, 2) Khpob Ta Nuon village, Khpob Ta Nuon commune, 3) Prek Sdey village, Preah Andong commune and 4) Peam Krao village, Peam Koh Sna commune.
HE Chhun Puthearith confirmed that the landslide was caused by a change in the flow of water due to the expansion of the land in front of the bank and the groundwater. At the same time, His Excellency the Director General also requested to study the detailed design and raise the estimated cost from the technical officer of the Department of Hydrology and River Work, as well as the Lidar drone team.
