The boyfriend jesus songs that are played on KLUV and the FISH are a joke. 90% you could change the context to a girlfriend or boyfriend and it wouldnt change anything. But thats a sign of the times that we live in and how the american church is so far from what it was intended to be.

Somewhere else on social media I just read someone's post that said the Bible "is not about us", but about God, and that we should stop reading it so selfishly (or arrogantly, as if we "deserve" anything)....

They shouldn't do a tour, they are the music for their church. We get to hear their songs via the internet.
Reminds me a lot of what Paul had to say in Philippians 3:7-11, where he talks about knowing Jesus, and counting all of his gains now as loss.
It says in scripture that God inhabits the Praises of his people. It is a great blessing to hear scripture and song. I've been saved now 10 years. I come from a pretty bad background and I'm thankful everyday for our Lord Jesus Christ and the blood that was shed on calvary's Cross fall of mankind. May the god of heaven and our Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless your church and your worship team

Most of Cityalighr's videos have lyrics. I use them with our small group all the time.
One night in my apartment about a year ago, I was frustrated and thinking about meaning of life kind of things. I asked whomever might be listening, "why is everything so secret and cryptic; why can't we just be told in a more direct manner the answers to all these important questions we have like, who am I?". Well, I got my answer. A being/person appeared beside me, on one knee next to the couch to be eye level with me. He was wearing a really shiny, really golden breast plate with a red/burgundy tunic underneath that ended above the knee like men would wear in ancient times. His hair was kind of short but hanging down the sides of his face a little and really really blonde (almost white). He was very pale and very "glowy". His eyes looked like there was a star in each of them, literally a big twinkling star in each of them,shining outwards; it's all you could see. The area around him was darker than my apartment lighting and a little warpy, which is what caught my attention in the corner of my eye when it started. It was like another reality was opened up in this one. Little flecks of orange light flowing in one direction like a calm river of embers from a fire. He looked at me with this almost pleased half smile kind of a look, and in a tone of voice one uses to answer a question just said, "David, you are a son of God". I wasn't scared; it actually felt very peaceful and there was just so much regal holiness emanating from him, but I was just so stunned, all I could do was stare at him. I was looking at his eyes just shining away and I was wondering to myself what his eyes looked like behind that, if there even was anything. Well, he obviously "heard" me wondering that because he turned his head to the right somewhat so he wasn't looking directly at me, so I could see his eyes better, and I saw them move around a little and I'm pretty sure they were blue. The whole thing lasted about 15 seconds and I guess it was time for him to go. The flecks of light flowing in from behind him suddenly rapidly sped up and multiplied until it was a raging torrent. It became like a wall of light and there was a flash and he was gone. I just sat there motionless in stunned silence for several minutes trying to take it all in. Pretty sure it was an angel😳😱😲. I guess my request to have an answer in a more direct manner was granted😳😳😳. I was never very spiritual but I'm going to be baptized soon 🙏. And yes, I know how this sounds..but sharing anyway.
We lost one of our beloved shepherds last year in Dr. Timothy Keller. I have listened to hundreds of his sermons, and have heard him comment on 5 - 10 of these divine experiences that famous people had throughout history. I have had a few myself, and they are beyond describable. I think it was Augustine, while watching the sun set over the Mediterranean, who said if these are the pleasures God affords sinful man, imagine the majesty of Heaven (cannot find the actual quote…but the meaning is intact). One of my experiences while praying was God allowing me to sense what Heaven FEELS like (no visualization). 5 minutes of joyful sobbing (could barely breathe), followed by me begging Him to stay…
@@MichaelConaway-9637direct revelation left when the Bible was finished being written. While we can feel Gods prescence thru spiritual state and emotion he is never physically with us, but rather spiritually.
Started listening to your songs about a while now after being introduced by a church member. Have been listening almost everyday and each time, the lyrics would just move me to tears. I m simply touched by the direct and simple, yet very profound message in the songs. I do feel blessed by your songs. Thank God for His blessing of talent upon all of you 🙏

A man our pastor invited to lead worship came and sang this song and it brought tears to my eyes. I was so blessed by its message, simple as it was; just knowing who our Savior is.

This worship, scripture being proclaimed, people praise God and not themselves, is what the "modern worship" should be. Then it wouldn't be "modern worship". Christ proclamation is the worship that has always been the worship in music that draws the heart close to the Father.
I agree and the sad thing is most of the big names are making so much selfish worship. Worship in its purest is solely and only about God. That is why I listen to older Hillsong not. newer.
@@ethankibbey1976 I have actually just wrote an article on corporate and personal worship. And it alludes to stuff that is done by the churches who produce newer music that isn't really Christ centered. But, however, I have been thinking a lot about the music by the artists I WOULD NOT sing in corporate worship, but WOULD listen to personally. And it's the older Hillsong stuff. That's about it though. Their new stuff unfortunately is not Biblically Christ centered, but selfishly Christ centered, which is an oxymoron haha.
But I'm glad you said that about the older stuff of Hillsong because I have been wrestling with other folks who are on the worship team here that want to do Hillsongs newer stuff, or even Bethel and Elevation, and it doesn't set well with me. But I have given a little to Hillsongs older stuff in the past week haha.
I lead worship every so often here at my church. I push City Alight, Soveriegn Grace, and Psalms in the style done by Shane and Shane. I won't go outside of that realm much at all. It's a very good, Biblically sound corporate worship balance. And I'm good with that. 👍
@@RosstheWretch There are deep rooted issues that we dismiss as being okay or we have excuses for such things. But Christian music as a whole today is a dry, dry well.
This song was my first exposure to City Alight, I actually was Googling lyrics to Sonicflood’s “I want to know you” but this was the defaulted option and I scanned the lyrics and I’m like, “Wow this actually has potential to be one of the rare gems I stumble on.” I wasn’t disappointed and I’ll continue to listen to more of their worship. Any suggestions from you personally? I will also dive deeper into the other ones you have suggested.
However, the deeper issues lie in politics, twisted ideals, a lack of genuine passion/relationship, religious complacency, a lack of challenge in church bodies and sermons and selfishness as a whole.
For politics, we have chosen sides. We are a house divided “And if a house is divided against itself, it cannot stand” - Mark 3:25. I am not saying Christians should disengage from politics completely but we see too many of them using the brutal fire technique of “You are going to Hell” straight up. Then we have progressive churches which are... well, you know. And how often do either side listen at all to the other? We turn a blind ear and a blind eye to our brother, but because that is the atmosphere of the cancel culture we live in today we find that to be socially acceptable.
How many of the people writing these songs do you reckon have a genuinely active, healthy, living relationship with our Savior King? How many do you think do the stereotypical I’ll kind of praise you when things are going okay but I really don’t NEED you then but now things are broken I’m all for You? God always walks with you, but do you always walk with God? So many songs are born of “Look at the good deed done through me” when we are warned not to put our good deeds on a pedestal but to do them in a quiet place...
Religious complacency and a lack of challenge go hand in hand. So many Christians go to church on Sunday, hear a weak sermon on God’s grace, go home and disengage from God for the week. Repeat 52 weeks a year. That is not how we are meant to live. We are meant to go and make disciples of the nations, to be the light of the world, to shine in the darkness, to stand in our faith and most importantly, to use our time in the word and in intercession with Him to be strengthened through His power. When was the last time we talked about challenging material, such as spiritual warfare, being in awe of God, humility and the fear of God? We don’t, it makes people uncomfortable. Well I want to be uncomfortable for God because His power is made perfect in weakness.
Twisted ideals in how we turn God’s word and use it either as a way to control people (well His word says this so shame tactics on you) or how we twist it so far out of proportion so that there is no conviction. We are offended so easily.
Our vision as a church body across this nation has become so perverted, so twisted which is why there is no fruit. We have turned away from Him. It’s sad to see. I am 17 and am very passionate about this subject so I could ramble on for a long long time but I won’t.

Have your sins been forgiven today and forever? Think about this. The God of the bible, the One True God made us to worship him, obey him, and enjoy him forever. We break His laws daily by not putting Him first, not thanking Him like we should, we lie, we lust, we have sex before marriage, we dishonor our parents, we covet things other people have, we take God's name and use it in vain, we use it in a low manner, sometimes as a cuss word, (God is holy and even His name is holy), we don't love like we should, etc. In doing so we're saying He's not a good provider, He's a liar, He's untrustworthy, He's not worthy of praise. All these things and more are counted against us. The bible says God is the just judge of the world and one day He will settle the score for all the wrong we've done. God is holy meaning He is righteous (morally perfect in thought, word, and deed) It also means He is set apart and higher than us. God being good, must punish all sin or wrong doing in the world. This means that if you sin one time God will cast you in hell for eternity. Because He is good and He doesn't turn a blind eye to sin. But there is good news. 2000 years ago Jesus the Son of God came into this world and lived a perfect life ( He never sinned once) and He died on the cross taking the wrath that we deserve and paid the penalty for the sins we committed. The bible says that if you will repent (confess and forsake your sins) and trust in what Christ did on the cross (He took the wrath of God that was meant for you and I) then all your sins will be forgiven and when you die you will be in heaven with God and all who believe for eternity. Jesus died and on the third day He rose from the grave. Get right with God today don't wait. Once you die after that comes the judgement. Hebrews 9:27 It's the most important thing you can do. You must be born again John 3:7 If you repent and trust in what Christ did on the cross it shows that you've been born again or born spiritually. Right now you're dead in your sins and you can't see the beauty of Jesus Christ but after you trust in Christ all the things you hate about God like obeying him, serving Him, loving Him and others, reading the bible, praying and going to church you will love to do those things because God changes your heart. That's how you know you have been born again and forgiven. Please think long about this and ask me any questions you have as this is the most important thing you can ever think of in your life. An eternity in hell (darkness and a lake of fire the bible describes it, with weeping and gnashing of teeth) or an eternity out of that place and into the loving arms of God who is infinitely glorious, has infinite knowledge and has infinite power to do all that He pleases. You decide. Have a great day!

People need to turn from their wicked ways, Jesus paid for it. That's God stating it in that verse and there are more verses. People need to repent, to be cleansed by His blood and live Holy because He's Holy and righteous because He's righteous. Our God said to stop sinning in many many scriptures and He paid for everyone to be cleansed of sin (Isaiah 53), and to live how He said. He dwells in the Holy temple (your body) and said not to defile the temple. He said to defile the temple is death. He's always serious about everything He said to do. He's just as serious about what He said not to do. We live in obedience to His law, every word if it! He dwells within us all to be with and lead us in His ways. 💕🙏
Deuteronomy 28 there are blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. The whole chapter, and verse 46 is one example of generational curses. These go into the following generations, the 3 and 4th. Our children pay the price for our sin. Stop sinning you are sending consequences to yourself and to your loved ones, children. By God's law you are. If you don't believe me ask Him, in Jesus name may you see and know the truth in it's fullness. 🔥🕊️🙏💕
