I can safely say, Wooi Yik is not a natural Canto speaker, probably he is Mandarin speaker as he is so struggling speaking Canto and Peng Soon, Meng Yean and of course Cheuk Yiu (HK dude) beh tahan laugh die whenever Wooi Yik trying to reply in Canto. Summary- Peng Soon - Hokkien (mother tongue), Canto (he probably picked up when he transferred to KL), Mandarin (he definitely went to Chinese school and speak well) Meng Yean (Canto is her mother tongue), Mandarin (she went to Chinese school) Cheuk Yik (Canto is mother tongue), Mandarin (quite ok because HK now many of them speak Mandarin) Wooi Yik (Mandarin mother tongue), Canto (funny version), Bahasa (he definitely went to SK school as his Bahasa are good compared to CPS and Meng Yean)
i think chan peng soon might be of cantonese descent himself (chan is generally a cantonese surname, tan is the hokkien equivalent of chan) so his family might also speak cantonese as well as hokkien
Peng Soon is not hokkien but cantonese. Meng Yean is hokkien, her accent while speaking cantonese kinda shows & also the fact that she's from malacca just makes the case stronger.
@@carltan2000 i can tell peng soon is definitely cantonese from the name, but he definitely can speak good hokkien, like come on, almost every chinese person from penang (even some non chinese) can speak hokkien

We recognise them by their accent/slangs and some vocab they use to identify which country or places they come from. Just like how we differenciate Indonesian and malaysian. But there are some people that can mimic others country accent/slang . If by name, normally a malaysian Chinese ethic name is based on hokkien or Cantonese ,Hainan Hakka etc while in china mainland their name is by mandrin( pinyin). Such as malaysia player chan peng soon(陈炳顺) is based on Cantonese while china player chen jin(陈金). Both their surname is actually is same 陈 if in mandrin is Chen if Cantonese is chan.

Chinese players' name will be using pinyin straight.
How can you differentiate Hong Kong player and China player?
@@AwokFit normally we recognize HK people by the way they speak Cantonese, and they do the same to know where we are from.
@Nazifah 88 They also speak Mandarin, Hokkien only among the elderly…..or maybe some of the young ones…
