Interestingly, D4rk Avatar Optimizer also recommends using a different compression method for your normal maps (BC5 or something), and when I tried that, not only some pf my transparent (grab pass) materials would look weird, but the download size of the avatar increased by a good 30%. So I had to undo that recommendation.
Amazing video, I’ve actually been trying to learn how to further optimize my avatars. I can’t wait for part two! I’ve tried decimating the meshes in blender but I get an error with Shape Keys and have never been able to find a work around, so I would love to see the part 2
You may have raised the size or changed the compression type Additionally fully automatic tools can cause errors or issues. so part 2 may work better when it is released
Hi, the merge skinned meshes from the d4rk avatar optimizer is increasing my bounds from 2.33 2.75 2.35 to 11 12 11, and is making the avatar apear has very poor instead of poor, is there a way to fix this? thanks!
there should be setting under the gameobject that has the skinned Mesh renderer and there is states the bounds size, if that doesnt help: alternatively it might be an object that has been moved away from your Avatar, set your objects on "Editor Only" Tag on the Top Right in the Inspector one after another and Check the Avatar Uploadscreen if it changes the numbers in the Warning or if the Performance Warning for the Bounds disappears

Can you tell me why the "create optimize copy" is greyed out in d4rks optimizations.
It won't let me press the "Create optimized copy" Button what do I do?
Idk how but somehow my avatar download size jumped from 29.84mb to 40.84mb after trying to optimize it
