    Hey guys,
    I prototyped quite a few cool things that I will share over the coming videos! We start this part with analyzing some basics again to get the Dark Souls look right, but we will also look into animating an HDR skydome via UV flow distortion :)
    Have a great time! :)
    More information about the Unreal 4 Lighting Academy can be found here: forums.unreale...

    This has been an incredibly informative video series for me. I'd love to see the scene from this wrapped up, but if it never happens I can't complain because what I've already gained in info and inspiration is huge.

    I was playing Battlefront 2 earlier today and I looked up at the skybox and noticed that warping circle you mentioned
    It's funny how I had no idea that existed until after seeing this

    Hi Daedalus, thanks a lot for all your videos, all of them were incredibly useful and enjoyable, lighting academy is great :D
    By the way I'm now rebuilding this on 4.24.3 but gives an error about float3 and float2. This is because UE4 doesn't like an HDR texture as a 2d parameter.
    Could you please share with us how you set it up?
    Thanks man, hopefully see you soon with a new video!

    it would be cool to play with this idea, I want to try to use Vue to try to simulate a day night change. I've tried truesky and it's far too heavy on FPS usage... but this seems like i can have so much more control on my scene mood. Thank you for sharing its got my brain thinking. Also the sky hole fix would be an interesting challenge.

    • @GvRDesigns
      @GvRDesigns 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wanted to try out TrueSky for my Archviz scenes, it looks like it gives nice results. Would you say its not worth it, even for small Archivz scenes? Is it that heavy on FPS?

    Have you considered creating an Amazon wish list of the components you'd want for your new PC build? I'm still planning on donation when I get the chance, but it'd be nice to pitch in and buy what you want directly.

    • @jimyang8730
      @jimyang8730 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Please, throw up the parts via Amazon wish list. I'm sure the price range will go from the relatively cheap (e.g. case fans) to the high tier stuff like processor and video card, but it's a range of options for how we might contribute.

    Hi sir , i really like the premise of this series , i find it very interresting and i've seen lots of comments praising you and the way you teach things , basically i've decided to start watching it but i have one concern . With the many changes in unreal versions uptill now , could it possibly cause the 1st parts or the series to be outdated or is it not affected by the updates that epic has rolled since then ? Thanks in advance .

    • @Tiranozauras
      @Tiranozauras 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Changes are there, but it's technical details. Lot's of stuff still to learn from how he approaches lighting, how he tries to find and fix whats broken, that's applicable to any software or version, so I'd definitely recommend checking older stuff too.

    Great vid love your stuff - can you share the part you did and leave the other guys stuff out - his is easy to replicate your part is way harder and being a beginner it just seems like you are making it hard for the newbies to try and replicate than the people who are more advanced - probably take me several hours to piece together what you did if I can even decipher all the nodes with the right settings - his is on a blog so why would he mind if its out in the open and you are referenceing it - its only a few nodes - leave it empty with a web link as a title if you want so people will go to his blog and finish it - thanks either way

      Man I really thought about it...but you know, I also got some inspiration from another guy on the web for my lens flare stuff, but I have altered it far enough by now to feel comfortable to release it at some point! But for the sky stuff...I have just begun investigating and right now this is such an early prototype thing that still uses a lot from that guys blog, I dont want to release that and cash in for it! Just rebuild what you see on screen! Thats how I learned all of this as well :)

    Nice tutorial. BUT instead of 1 hour you can cut out to much speaking and leave only 5 minutes highlights to show how you done for example master material and instance tweaking. For 1 hour watch I got bored already - honestly. Please cut your tutorial time to 5 till 10 minutes MAXIMUM to show exactly and only important and relevant things!!!!

      I understand that this style of teaching might not be for you, but for myself and a lot of others hearing the thought process behind everything is valuable. Maybe when you learn the material you can spend some of your time to make a video the way you're describing if you feel like it would be helpful to the community.
