Todays fact: The last Cascadia earthquake is estimated at magnitude 9. A megathrust earthquake in Chile in 1960 was magnitude 9.5, and one in Alaska in 1964 was magnitude 9.2 to remind people when the last ones happened and for those who don’t know. we will all be praying for you Japan.

We had 2 6.4 earthquakes off Vancouver Island last month and a small 3.9 one east of Vancouver about 10 days ago. That is just north of the Washington state and British Columbia border.

Greetings from Japan! Thank you for your concern. Japan will be on a higher earthquake alert level for one week from today. (It doesn't mean that an earthquake will definitely occur, but it's highly likely.) To everyone planning a trip to Japan! Please refrain from traveling, especially to the southern coastal areas. We are used to earthquakes, but it's a shame that our precious trip is filled with fear. If possible, I recommend that you stay home and relax instead of traveling!

      Read the entire New Testament-
a little every day or every second day. Pray and read it again and continue to pray. Your life will be changed forever and you will have internal life through Jesus.
It says in the Bible there will be an increase in earthquakes and war and famines as we approach the end.

I understand: I lived in San Diego County for 10 years, 2003-2013, with my family before moving to Vegas (I lived there from 2013-2018).
My family moved to a small town way south of Vegas back in 2018 (still in Southern NV/Nevada). Vegas experienced an aftershock in 2019 (the epicenter was in Southern CA/California).
One of my friends who lived in Vegas was freaked out (She voiced her concern on Facebook). To me, the aftershock wasn't a big deal since I lived in Southern CA for several years with my family. I realized that she'd never experienced an aftershock & didn't know that NV is one of the most seismically active states in the USA.

As a geologist, I think they are prudent to issue such a warning. As the previous earthquakes are increasing in magnitude, they could be foreshocks of a much stronger one to follow. Earthquake prediction is in its infancy, but better safe than sorry. This warning would be enough for me to immediately vacate any building that didn’t perform well in the previous ones, or which were damaged.

It was about 1 meter high.
No deaths have been announced so far.
and different damaged from Huge East Japan Earthquake in 2011 for now.
Additionally, there were No problems at the Kawachi Nuclear Power Plant in the Kyushu area, which is in the southern part of Japan at the epicenter of the earthquake.

There is something weird happening that's true..earthquakes are increasing in frequency and magnitude, they are even happening in places where they have never happened before. Cyclones, floods and tornadoes are becoming more common place and weird, patterns of weather are messed up. But it's worse, there's wars arising everywhere, violence is way too rampant that it doesn't surprise us anymore, and political uprisings are shaking up countries-look at just how the last two months have seen youth movements shake up governments in Sri-lanka, Kenya, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Uganda...and the fires for the same keep rising.
There's definitely something wrong friend, there is, and the only way to have peace amidst the ever growing chaos is to cast our lot with God because He said this was going to happen, and that He has the power to bring the world to a point where all these uncertainties won't paralyze our lives with fear of the unknown

I am curious why the Japanese citizens allowed nuclear power plants to be built within their country due to it's placement on an very active fault line? If any people that could successfully do it, with minimal risk, it would be the Japanese people who seem to be an ingenious bunch coming up with clever creative solutions to complex problems.

All of you are talking about a tsunami, and unfortunately no one knows when and how it happens?, And none of you know the theory (water is the one that circulates the earth) ...
You can imagine the earth without water, water balances the shape of the earth, and its revolving or orbiting around its self, and the sun. Ebb and tide are considered as a safety valve for the earth, and its rotation.
Earth with water slows its revolving...
The water increased because of the melting of ice caps of polars and Himalayas, therefore the force of revolving increases too...
    NOW:The length of the year now is [ 365 1/4 +_(2 minutes )]...
These studies had completed and sent on July 26th 2000...

The megaquake warning has finally ended a few hours ago and although I am slightly relieved, we will now have to prepare for a category 3 typhoon that will come close to the mainland of Japan tomorrow.
It's been busy with 4 typhoons coming over to visit from a different angle than normal for this time of year lol (usually they come from the south). After the typhoon leaves, it's back to worrying about the Nankai earthquake

No, Shizuoka is most likely to be the epicenter of the next big one. This is why Shinkansen services are slowing down in Shizuoka for the next week. Also, a major earthquake there could wake Mount Fuji up, and that would be a worse problem.
