This is by far the best and most realistic homesteading channel I've ever found. You didn't start super rich, you aren't shilling random sponsored shit, and you are slowly progressing in smart and practical ways. I really hope this TH-cam channel grows to the point where you can just post videos of you building shit and messing around with Minion and sustain yourself off it.

I'd love it if I could meet a man who knows how to do this stuff and get married and I could cook, preserve foods and clean and stuff like that while he does the construction and stuff, but I don't envision that happening anytime soon. Not many men would want to be with me because of said health issues. So instead I'll just watch Nate & live vicariously.

If you have a yard or patio, you can get some big tubs, and drill holes in them, fill with growing medium and start with a few tomato plants. And continue to expand as you are given opportunity. You don't have to be married to do that. If you have a patio, or even a small yard, you can make a start. So many wonderful you tube videos on how to do things these days. It's amazing. It's a God send because the world is running towards madness more and more. I pray you can make steps towards getting healthier, and maybe get a place our in the country and see what you can do! My house is 720sq ft, & I'm building a shed, because if you are frugal & believe in "waste not, want not", you will always have things you've found for future projects. Hey Nate, we have quite a bit in common. 20+ years off grid now and I started in a small camper with 2 rescue pups. Saved some money and built a small cabin, coops, garden and sheds. Started a local pest control business and with no house payments and no utility bills I was able to retire at 49. Now I just write off grid books and design cabin plans for other people to build and do adventure vids with my dogs. Life is good! Best on your adventures!

I moved out to Washington in the big mountains with dreams of homesteading. But something I didn’t realize was how expensive it was going to be. So I bought a house and suffered a 2k mortgage for 5 years. But before I moved here 10 years ago I was from WV as well. But cancer got me now so my homesteading dream is on hold, maybe forever. But you’ve got me thinking about returning back to mountain mama. I love your videos bud Ne I miss the people back there like you. Some of the best folks come out of Appalachia. Thanks again bud I know these videos take a lot of time to make and I’m very grateful for them. Living vicariously through you while I’m stuck in a hospital bed all day. Live king and live now. Time is never on our side. I’m 35 years old and I’ve had colon cancer twice which I did not cause myself. It’s on the rise in people my age. 20s to 30s. Take care of your body good buddy.

I've always liked the look of A-frame cabin homes with their simplicity of design and construction. I've often thought of building one if I ever got a plot of land outside the city maybe near the water. I'm here for your journey brother. As someone who just hit 25, I've only just very recently begun to look inward and question the things that I really want out of life. I've never had goals, aspirations, or dreams really, just a drive every day to do the best I can in that moment, regardless of what I was doing. As well as that has served me to this point, it also left my perspective extremely narrow and thus here I am trying to find answers to these enormous questions. All this to say that these videos and shorts truly make me feel at ease and a little less anxious about finding the answers. Your drive, outlook, mindset, and perspective on things continue to be an inspiration for me, and I'm looking forward to continuing the journey :) p.s. Minion is the very best icing to this cake

Man you putting out some of the best content I seen in years. Dig the chilled vibe, variety of things, and your narration skills are awesome. I lived 2 years out in the sticks too, had a great time. I had a spot in remote far north Mozambique, kinda place where I'd be the only person for hours in any direction. Hoping you make some more long form content in time to come. Keep up the amazing work
I moved out to Washington in the big mountains with dreams of homesteading. But something I didn’t realize was how expensive it was going to be. So I bought a house and suffered a 2k mortgage for 5 years. But before I moved here 10 years ago I was from WV as well. But cancer got me now so my homesteading dream is on hold, maybe forever. But you’ve got me thinking about returning back to mountain mama. I love your videos bud Ne I miss the people back there like you. Some of the best folks come out of Appalachia. Thanks again bud I know these videos take a lot of time to make and I’m very grateful for them. Living vicariously through you while I’m stuck in a hospital bed all day. Live king and live now. Time is never on our side. I’m 35 years old and I’ve had colon cancer twice which I did not cause myself. It’s on the rise in people my age. 20s to 30s. Take care of your body good buddy.
Excellent story and I look forward to following more of it. My wife, 3 kids, 2 dogs, and I are on a very similar path. Closed our woodworking business and left NH and moved to raw land in Tennessee. Developing land and a homestead really teaches you to be patient, lol. Thanks for sharing your story.

I've always liked the look of A-frame cabin homes with their simplicity of design and construction. I've often thought of building one if I ever got a plot of land outside the city maybe near the water. You've got a nice setup going there Nate and I look forward to seeing what you come up with for your house design.

WOW! What a good story & what a beautiful plot of land you chose to settle on. Minion is adorable & makes a great farm dog.... luv it when helps gathering the duck eggs. Your cats look very happy and they have great names as well. You have a great story-telling voice.... reminds me of Rex Allen who did a lot of narration for Walt Disney. I loved the longer video. You’re very inspiring. I’d love to see more! Im hoping one day once I get my debt paid off To do something similar. The suburban lifestyle working 10 hour shifts 5-6 days a week has gotten very old.

I'm here for your journey brother. As someone who just hit 25, I've only just very recently begun to look inward and question the things that I really want out of life. I've never had goals, aspirations, or dreams really, just a drive every day to do the best I can in that moment, regardless of what I was doing. As well as that has served me to this point, it also left my perspective extremely narrow and thus here I am trying to find answers to these enormous questions.
All this to say that these videos and shorts truly make me feel at ease and a little less anxious about finding the answers. Your drive, outlook, mindset, and perspective on things continue to be an inspiration for me, and I'm looking forward to continuing the journey :)
p.s. Minion is the very best icing to this cake

I really like your videos I'm not gonna lie I'm a Minion But saying what you have done to the land you should be very proud of yourself and I'm very excited to receive the next what's 7 more years did you have a 10 year plan we'll bring that landAnd who knows plans are always made to be changed by this can't wait to see what you do keep it up
You have a lot of knowledge and experience on a number of things that helps you in this endeavor. I can't imagine trying to do this without some of your knowledge. Im sure there are many who do and don't make it and that's unfortunate. I wouldn't even think of trying it unless i had a Minion. That just wouldn't be possible.
Dude this is so cool - I think that one animal that might not require too many chores, but would provide helpful resources would be bees.
