    Calkins Law Office:
Oldest Surviving Structure in Grand Rapids
Built in 1836, it housed the law office of Charles P. Calkins, who came from Hinesburg, Vermont, about this same time. Mr. Calkins married Mary Ann Hinsdill.
The law office was located at the northeast corner of Monroe Center and Ottawa. It is now maintained by the Grand Rapids Public Museum and was last located in Lincoln Park adjacent to the old museum on Jefferson Street, in downtown Grand Rapids.

Appreciate the restoration..that history of architecture builds knowledge as future students move to take past craftsmanship toward new development of building houses that reflect a bond of the past properly pushing people to admire the creativity and culture that Western Michigan had established generally around Greater Grand Rapids area...thank you in sharing this video. . .I had a class at Central high School on fountain Street.. Architecture taught by Mr Lamonier..1976..one great class..indeed.
