Ant, great watch. I always enjoy vid's on old village churches, but when the church is abandoned and, in this state, what happens to all the gravesites and headstones? Every grave no matter how old represents a person's life --- a mother or father, a son or daughter, every headstone has a backstory. Thanks to Ant for helping to keep history alive.
I very much enjoy old churches ruins or intact, not religious at all. Enjoy the architecture and beauty of the buildings. Bolton Abbey is about 5 miles away from my home, majestic ruins and a beautiful church still used for worship. Thanks once again for the lovely video Stay well 👍
Great video. That's on my to do list. If you haven't already, you should visit Holy Trinity church ruins near Matlock, and also St James's chapel ruins at haughton. Great places.
I used to walk my dog around there a few years back. Used to love walking round the church, inside on the floor of the staircase, I once saw 3 owletts, waiting for their mum, and in the trees above, there was mum watching. There was also a family of ducks using the safe space inside the church. It was quite a sanctuary despite the efforts of vandals to throw litter over the bars. The walls of the church are peppered with shot from the civil war. But, it is a most tranquil and peaceful place - that cemetery and garden could be a beautiful visit but the inside of the church should remain a wildlife sanctuary.
I love ruins, i always imagine what they were like with people coming and going everyday. I agree that with a bit of TLC it could be opened to people,. they don't need to leave it for wild life ( if they are) as there is plenty of trees and other greenery around
Hey Ant you missed the remains of an old house called The Kennels very close to Colwick Hall. It can be found in the woods to the left at the start of your vid. When you walked around the church you walked over the graves of murdered woman and her 3 children. Killed in 1844 and buried on the north side of the yard.
A lovely look around the old church. Tapophilia is the study of grave yards/gravestones. Graves at the church wall, more often than not, are people who haven't been christened, or were paupers.
Great video as always Ant!. Fascinating to see this one. It's a shame you couldn't get to the top of the staircase but good not to disturb the birds! Plenty of great church ruins like this I can recommend when you get back to Norfolk I have been trying to visit them all over the last few years but I believe there is around 100 so haven't got to all of them yet!
The memorials etc went to Newstead Abbey if I recall correctly. There are some other photos of the interior in old books that I have seen, including the organ.
Fantastic video thanks Ant. What a stunning place. Would be excellent if someone would help a church that. Has needs. Loved the video. Thanks for taking me along. Please take care
Sensitively handled Ant. Always seems a bit disrespectful that the headstones are removed and paraded up against a wall, does anyone know the reason (sincerely hope it's not H & S in case someone trips over, although I wouldn't be surprised.🙄) Keep coming with these little lost gems👍👍👍👍👍
Many thanks for this excellent video, we are off to Wales tomorrow and have got a few old churches on my list to visit/photograph and hopefully use my new drone for some aerial shots, like raywood569 below I do like my old remote churches/ruins etc
Hi. Just back from the Derbyshire Archaeolgy Day and Treor Griffin was talking about the Belper and morley Park Railway. Appardently, bits can still be seen, but is under threat from developers 🙁 Might make a good subject for TH-cam as a lasting reference! Angela
Nice explore. I like a creepy old abandoned church! As someone mentioned earlier, I too would love to see it restored but it would cost a fortune and I don't think many go to church much these days. It also seems to be a bit out of the way.
Colwick Country Park look after this church, the stately home and estate, e.g. Nottingham County Council. Anyone can visit, Or go to the racetrack for a flutter on the horses. Holme Pierrepont water centre is also there
Thanks for the video, a 5 minute walk from my front door. I think Nottingham City Council look after Colwick Park. The water sports centre at Holme Pierrepont is in Rushcliffe on the other side of the river, you can’t access it through Colwick, be good if you could. You wouldn’t know from this video this is now quite an urban park really, sat just off Colwick Loop Road, it’s a lovely local resource that needs to be cherished.
I am originally from Waklefield and as young uns, we used to explore around Heath old hall, we never used to go after dark. Scared of the ghost there. !!!! Is the hall still there or long gone.
Top video again. I'm learning things about Nottingham and the surrounding areas i never knew about. 👍
Lovely footage of the old church. Thank you
Thanks very much for watching 😁
Been meaning to have a look at this I work just the other side of the river and saw it on google maps.
Its absolutley worth a visit :)

good one Ant, do more of these as an addition to the railways, they compliment one another and make a change - just like you did with the Dam.
Great video. That's on my to do list. If you haven't already, you should visit Holy Trinity church ruins near Matlock, and also St James's chapel ruins at haughton. Great places.
A sad remnant. I live close to this area and often walk around it. Thanks for showing us it!

Wow! That's amazing!
Enjoyed this so much. Thank you!
Thanks very much indeed
@Anth ... Great video and great still pics. Such a shame to see a great building rotting away, but thanks to you, this moment in time is saved .
Lovely setting accompanied by great music. Saw the squirrel. Thank you Ant. Very interesting. Well done on finding all those places to explore.
A fascinating look at the old church. It always amazes me that you find such appropriate music for all your videos. Most enjoyable.
Nice one, mate. another place I would never have got see without your video's.
I discovered your channel today, really enjoyed it, keep up the good work.
Very kind thanks very much ☺️❤️

Really interesting video Ant, nice work.
Thanks for watching John
Hi Ant,another great video, thanks. I'm not particularly religious, but it is sad to see a lovely historic building left to fall apart basically.
A lovely look around the old church.

Nice one Ant! 🫡✌️

Im on nitghts for another 8hrs.
Time to catch up on your last 3 vids,
Then Martins,
Then maybe some others.
🙌
Another great video, and I am always heartened by your respect for wildlife and people’s privacy whenever you are out and about ❤

Thank you Ant, really found this interesting. Take care.
Great video. Great to see places in my local area
Hi Ant, WoW! Beautiful church. Something different, I like it, I would love to see more, maybe on your walks we could see more of your country. Thanks

Two of my family rest there.
Awwww 🧡

Such a beautiful place it’s a disgrace it’s been allowed to get this way
Funny you should say it reminds me you of Annesley Church, same family in the two halls
Local Volunteers and various Organisations, should be given access and allowed to preserve all these buildings around UK
I absolutely agree. Pictures I saw of this from 4 years ago show it completely clear inside

Hi how is it going, can you remember saying hello to Barry and Mick in colwick. We were sat on the beach? We put the plaques up there 😂
I'm not sure 😄
When was this?
Sorry 😂
I may be mistaken but think it was last September time lol. time flies so quick, I really am not sure 😅
I love old overgrown church ruins like that. There's an aura of gothic romance to them.
It is rather nice. I have my eye on a couple more.... Thanks for watching
Sad😢
Thanks Ant.😂
Thinks they should have let them turn it into a house when they did the Hall instead of leaving it to rot .
I am originally from Waklefield and as young uns, we used to explore around Heath old hall, we never used to go after dark. Scared of the ghost there. !!!! Is the hall still there or long gone.
I'm shocked that English Heritage haven't done something with it,maybe covid stopped any work on it?
Thanks for watching 👍
