Tip: when cycling the puck dont try to deke your opponent players or ai. Just pass the puck around until u see a good place for shot or a lane for pass leading to a 1 timer. (: hope this helps someone!
Ive tried that. But playing against cpu on All Star or higher, they just read you button presses and anticipate EVERYTHING. On defense too. Its impossible to deke towards the net. Even if you beat your man, the cpu IMMEDIATELY knows the direction your pressing, and sends someone over to annihilate you before you finish your deke animation. How do you beat the CPU when it KNOWS everything your trying to do? Thanks.
Dude I owe you a huge one! Watched your defence video and realized I have to let go of the stick check button to let the AI intercept the cross crease pass. Game changer for me! Now this tip ...patience. Awesome how you demonstrate it with the video.
I start out applying pressure on Defense but when people keep just doing circles for ss cheese or cross crease I’m not gunna give them that easy goal so ya I will skill zone to an extent, I switch players and lightly pressure/pinch when opportunity comes but why would I knowingly wait for my players to get pulled out of position
This has come at the perfect time, sometimes I think you make these videos just for me haha but yeah I'm trash 😔. I've been trying to cheese the SS ai this last week everytime I compete versus other folks I'm not adjusting and getting smoked. This video helps as I realise I've not been patient at all.
How much do you use the right stick when stuck handling? I seem to only use it before I try to shoot. Is the right stick supposed to be moving all the time? Everytime I use it when stick handling, I make a mistake and shoot it. #frustratednoob!
I wish the game engine was rebuilt to more accurately represent an actual game. Unless it's Playoff OT, defensive lines are not all mad scrambling after the puck. Same with PK teams. They wait back in zone and essentially try to survive the offensive attack. In this game, and in all hockey games, it's just a scramble to the puck, no matter the position, zone, type of game, remainder in game, etc. There is no waiting it out, no slow methodical game-play, everything is too fast. I struggle to see how developers compare this to a real game and think "yep, this will work." How could they?
This video shows perfectly how broken NHL20 is (same as NHL19 btw). You are a real good player, so you master the game but it seriously has nothing to do with hockey anymore. EA would need to work on their physics ot at least make checking far more effective. In real life no one can keep the puck away like this and resist each bump while just turning away. Got place 42 this weekend in HC and can say that you can defend circling by being patient and using a kinda flexible skillzoning (beware of the wraparound, which is still a kinda gitchy situation) but it seriously is no fun to play at all anymore. Tilantekija for example still took me apart

Hey brainstormed I'm new to playing nhl online and trying to start to improve. This video is great But I have a question so in the video you are obviously almost always screening the puck away from the defenders so they can't steal it, are you mostly using A/X or skill stick to shield the puck? I'm not comfortable letting go of the stick and use the button but is it just something I have to get used to? Now I just feel better opponents can just stick lift or poke and steal the puck easily from me but as I said I'm a new player and my overall movement & passes are not that great.
Hey man this has nothing to do with this video but I was wondering. Does how hard you pass it change how your player may try the 1T? Someone’s my players will go for a soft snap sometimes a slap shot and other times just a tap and it drastically changes whether or not it goes in
hi b-storm. Can you please make video about zone entry since i'm getting crashed on the boards every time i enter the zone. i don't have even time to pass (which is always intersepted) or to make deke. Also problems with meeting high agression in general since pack protection doesn't work for me as on X-box bumping out of pack is very easy. Thanks man. I like your videos this year. From time to time i look video with Josh just to laugh :-) It's an art piece....
This doesn't really do a whole lot, but it should. What you're trying to do is entice your opponent to play man on man, which will leave gaps in the crease and slot. There are offensive strategies that the AI are automatically looking for, one is behind the net. And I can actually demonstrate how to really use that the way the AI want you to. Of course EA is too lazy and bored to give any advice on these things so I will. The idea is to move the puck up the boards to your defenseman, pass down the boards to the next player... the next player skates up to the defenseman and then he passes once more down the boards to the last remaining guy in the crease... he goes behind the net from the opposite side and sweeps the puck with an animation and skates out 1on1 in front of the goalie. During this time he can do one of two things... pass to the returning two forwards moving around in the slot for a one timer or he can hold onto the puck and shoot himself. The cycling done in this video is like a make shift version of this, but there are ways to potentially gain acceptance from the AI and score. But honestly, this game is rigged to the core, it will decide whether you score or not most of the time.
Brianstormed are most of your games horrible ping? Cause damn near every game I play lags horrible. Even if I get a green bar, it’s extremely frustrating. My internet is fine btw. Other than the random packet loss when playing hut.

I find that cycling the puck is great as long as you're controlling every player on the ice, if you're in say Be A Pro the AI doesn't let you cycle, you pass to them and they will take the dumbest shots all the time. Not just if you try to start the cycle game but literally AI winger has the puck, I'm on the right, wide open for a cross ice one timer into the net, dumb idiot shoots it right at the goalie instead when there's no shot.

All star A.I is very simplistic with their “learning” every time u enter the offensive zone, the practically reset their behaviour, but the longer u spend in their zone the more they learn for that attack. Also ai if not controlled by a person will ALWAYS rush a dman with a hit THEN a poke check, spinning around them negates both of these and keeps the cycle alive.
