- Dominica is fast becoming my favourite country in the Caribbean. Unlike a lot of other islands around with beautiful pristine beaches and packed holiday resorts, Dominica is a million miles away from that.
It’s this wild, rugged island that looks straight out of Jurassic Park. Honestly, everywhere you look is just so lush and green. I guess that’s why it’s known as “the nature island of the Caribbean”.

I just switched to a new primary MD and she is from this county and she was telling me about the hurricane that came through a few years ago that was ment for Barbados 🇧🇧 but hit them instead. This place absolutely beautiful!!!!
Yeah, the hurricane hit Dominica really bad and destroyed a lot of the island. Thankfully, people and families are starting to get back on their feet now. Tourism is one of the biggest national GDPs in Dominica so it's a fantastic time to go and show your support!

Im from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 and I have to say that country is pretty beautiful, my country still have many green places but our politicians are destroying everything for money.. 😢
I think Dominica is going through a lot of changes at the moment but I really think it's natural beauty will always be there - that's my hope anyway!

I really love Dominica, been to several of the spots in the video, Fort,& Emerald Falls,. I want hike in a see the boiling lake which is one of only two in the world, the other being in New Zealand. Also great is "Keeping it Real" in Toucari Bay on the north end. TH he proprietor, Derrick is a fantastic chef and he will take yo snorkeling in he bay and also fishing and will cook up your catch for you.
I really want to visit Boiling Lake too! I have had friends who went their and they loved it. Just another reason to go back and explore some more of the island!

There's a delicious bread my grandpa who was from Dominica used to do. He died and we never could take the recipe from him. He didn't want us around every time he was baking he bread. I would trade everything i have if i could find that recipe. The only thing i remember he was using red wine or something like that and baked on firewood and stones. Does anybody from Dominica knows about that kind of bread?

It's really not too bad at all. You can find fairly cheap accommodation on the island, but food is a bit more expensive than some places because it's an island. Expect lots of seafood though which is always great!

Thank you so much! We picked up SIM cards for our trip as we were posting lots, and the internet was great. The Wifi in hotels was fairly good too. We certainly didn't find it a problem that's for sure.

I heard from a family member that the roads are really bad. Any advice, on the living situation in Dominica?
I would say Dominica is very safe to travel around. The hurricane destroyed a lot of the island, mainly houses and buildings, but they've recovered really well since then. The roads aren't the best but you can get around the island very easily. But yes, it is safe! I hope that helps!

No, just standard drone regulations such as keeping the drone in your line of sight and not flying over busy crowds. It's a beautiful place to go flying thought that's for sure!

How hard is it to go there from uk
It's not hard at all. A direct flight to Antigua (7 hours) and then a short connecting flight from Antigua to Dominica (2 hours), so it's fairly easy I'd say.

People are swimming! The water is lovely - I went swimming a fair few times while I was there. Just hard to film!

what the most inexpensive way to travel to Dominica? The flights I've seen are around $900 to 1000
depends where you're from. I'd say the best way is to fly either to Guadeloupe or Martinique and take ferry to Dominica (arouond 50 euro).
Agree with comment. From the UK and Europe, most flights are via Antigua too, so sometimes it's cheaper to get a flight there and then your own internal Caribbean flight to Dominica
