That fact adds to the sort of pathetic nature of the song. Although it sounds like an argument, it's really just Stine trying to convince himself that Stine's the one people like/need, not Stone. It shows off the occasionally snivelly qualities Stine has to watch him bully and beat down a person that doesn't exist to prove he's better than them. Wow, what a big strong man you are, Stine. You took down a grouping of adjectives and nouns. Incredible.
As a practicing author both put really good points especially the "Im everything you always wanted to be lets deal with the issue You Wished you were me" hit me hard creating characters and making them theyre stories is like my own escape my own reality and go to the other one and experience it myself but if i was the character i would wished i had full control on what i see
Imagine this was a enemies-to-lovers type of musical but before character 1 could confront character 2 about their feelings, character 2 dies. The aftermath would lead character 1 wandering up to his grave and slowly slumping next to it, singing a reprise version of the song called "I'm nothing without you."
This musical actually has a reprise called “I’m nothing without you.” But it’s more of a triumphant song with stone(the detective) coming to Stine(the author)’s aid. And the pair confessing they both need eachother
@@Pandie2828 never watched the full musical so dont know the particulars of the context, but yeah it’s an author having an argument with the character he’s created
Honestly, I picture this as a writer and his character arguing with each other. However in the end they both know they need each other, they both would be useless without each other alongside one another.
I just really love this song and wow seeing actual moves with it omg... And omg is this like a writer and their book character!?!?!?! Because this is so real!!!!
My assumption (with zero knowledge of the musical) is that this song is a meta-feud between a fictional character and the author of their story. They hate each other with a burning passion, but at the same time, they are stuck with each other because neither of them can function without the other around. For anyone who actually knows this musical, feel free to let me know how far off my interpretation is. Otherwise, I’ll just come back in about a week once I have actually listened to all of the songs…
@@hopefulstarfish7559 that's kinda the same thing I thought but why would they hate eachother? One isn't real and the other doesn't know if his writers existence, well realistically
@@darbythegamer5152 maybe the character somehow has the ability to break the Fourth Wall to the point where he can complain to his creator about all of the trouble that his narrative puts him through, while at the same time, the writer might not have written the character to be likable in his own opinion. Of course, I still need to listen to the musical myself, so my answers may not be 100% reliable in terms of the context…
@@hopefulstarfish7559 so basically the character is suicidal and wants to die wishing he was never born and the whole song is him screaming to his writer to kill him
Stine is the creator of the book stones in, which was than took and planned to be turned into a movie, the dirrector assined stine to write the script, it being his book and all, but the dirrector kept making changes and ruining stines vison of the story, but stine caved began to re write it, rewriting a important scene changing a villians motive from a racial thing to one of romance, and stone is mad due to him caving.
I found this song in a “Stanley parable vibes” Spotify playlist, and this definitely fits
SAME LOLL
it fits so well
I can't unhear Joker and Akechi singing this, it will forever be them singing this!! Thank you Xander and Robbie for such amazingness
Ikr!

It truly fit them far more than it has any right to.

Looking cool Joker.
Correct
That is very true
If his brain only holds thoughts that he puts in there then that means he is making him say this.
Yes and we see that through how he writes his actions into reality
Have you met authors? A lot of them are exactly this mean to themselves
Plus stone is also stated to be Stines conscience

as a writer this hits home on so many levels and I love it
joker and akechi brought me here too. i love falling into a rabbit hole and realizing a buncha peeps are already in there too.
I honestly thought Xander and Robbie made this, well until TH-cam recommend me this
I knew it was a cover because it was in the description but I definitely didn't know the original material. Pretty cool !
A wonderful performance! I really loved the interaction between the two. Just the subtle facial expressions and movements. Great! Thanks for posting!

No
I nearly cried just from the thought omygosh
that first part is literally persona 5/persona 5 royal
I like the video is mostly them arguing and "insulting" each other like that one relationship in Persona 5.
Funny enough, Joker and Akechi’s voice actors covered this song.
Joker and Crow brought me here
Same.
ayyyyeee
Same here.
Futaba Naru Gonzalez glad I’m not the only one
I don’t blame anyone here
Character: Your nothing without me
Writer: And without me your nothing.....
Stage script writer: AT ALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!
Xander Mobus and Robbie Daymond
As an author with low self esteem, this hits hard
Rrn Amamiya and Gorl Akechi brpught me here
These two have great chemistry and the singing and blocking was great! Very impressive performance!❤
Wow, the homoeroticism pops out in this song.
Except that one is fictional
It’s never stopped people

IS IT REN OR AKIRA OR DOES THE PLAYER JUST DECIDE?!
The height is canon for both of the characters here. Akechi is the taller one. Ren/Akira is the small one

Can I watch somewhere the full musical with THESE actors?
Just waiting for one of them to yell “PERSONA”
When are they gonna summon their personas?
The detective IS his persona.

Seriously this is not exaggerated.
As a creator
Its crazy when you agrue with your own character!

Yes, this is true. I sometimes argue with my own characters when I write.
Yep! I agree. XD
That is a mood. Characters will always take up a mind of their own. Especially if you try to take the plot in a direction they don't like.
Best song~
Your brain only holds what I put in there. Haha 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The writer is now performing in Boston
I know absolutely nothing about the plot of city of angels but judging from this they just need to make out
Anyone know where i can watch this musical or whatever version of it is available on TH-cam cause it seems really interesting
