  • The British Alice In Wonderland Dark Ride
    Hello and thanks for visting my channel.
    In todays video I talk about the British Alice in Wonderland Dark Ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach which was made by Arrow Development as well as its connections with Walt Disney and Disneyland.
    Blackpool Pleasure Beach is an amusement park situated on Blackpool's South Shore, in the county of Lancashire, North West England. The park was founded in 1896 by A. W. G. Bean and his partner John Outhwaite and has been family owned and operated since its inception. The current managing director is Bean's great-granddaughter Amanda Thompson.
    The park is host to many records, including the largest collection of wooden roller coasters of any park in the United Kingdom with four: the Big Dipper, Blue Flyer, Grand National and Nickelodeon Streak. Many of the roller coasters in the park are record-breaking attractions. When it opened in 1994, The Big One was the tallest roller coaster in the world. It was also the steepest, with an incline angle of 65° and the second fastest with a top speed of 74 miles per hour (119 km/h). Currently, the ride holds the record as the tallest roller coaster in the United Kingdom, standing at 213 ft (65 m), with a first drop of 205 ft (62 m).
    The park was the first in Europe to introduce a fully inverting steel coaster, Revolution and is the last remaining park in the world to still operate a Steeplechase roller coaster. The Grand National is one of only three Möbius loop coasters in existence, where a singular track "loops" around itself, offering a facsimile out-and-back layout and creating a "racing" effect on two parallel tracks. Sir Hiram Maxims Captive Flying Machine is the oldest amusement park ride in Europe having opened in August 1904. At the cost of £15 million, Valhalla was one of the largest and most expensive indoor dark rides in the world. Designed by Sarner and manufactured by Intamin, Valhalla won "Best Water Ride" at the 2018 Golden Ticket awards, an accolade it has held over a consecutive number of years. The park also operates a Nickelodeon Land and the world's only Wallace & Gromit ride, the Thrill-O-Matic. In 2015 the park introduced Red Arrows Sky Force, a Gerstlauer Sky Fly thrill ride which is the first ride of its kind in the United Kingdom. The latest record is taken by Icon, a multi-launch coaster manufactured by Mack Rides in Germany.

    That was totally the Golden Ticket song, there’s gotta be more information on that! After this ride I would probably go on the Golden Zephyr. 😂 That was cool!

      Share a Dream Come True, It certainly is the golden ticket song, you can't mistake that 😂 and great choice going on the Golden Zephyr or Sir Hiram Maxim's Captive Flying Machines as they are called as Pleasure Beach Blackpool, can you believe this ride is nearly 120 years old & it opened in 1904!

    I adore the Alice in wonderland ride in Disneyland and the one in Blackpool, almost as much! They are both so magical and nostalgic. I never knew the two were connected in this way. But the music…gosh it has always bugged me! I know that the movie (Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory) didn’t release till years after this ride was made, but maybe it had different music for the first decade of it’s life? Someone must know! It is way too much of a coincidence-it’s the exact same song! I have heard a few explanations but none seem feasible really. Anyway great video on one of my favourite UK rides ☺️

    • @DisneyDave
      @DisneyDave  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rachael8989, this is also my thoughts as well about the music when you say it may have had different music for the first decade, There is very little available in print or on the internet about this attraction so that may be the case.

  • @kkuehn8
    @kkuehn8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Have never ridden this, but I agree 100% that the music is "I've Got a Golden Ticket". I did a little digging but wasn't able to come up with anything definitive. Now I'm curious. Thanks for this video. I enjoy theme park history.

    • @DisneyDave

      kkuehn8, I totally agree with you there about the music although thats the strange thing about this attraction, there really isnt much information out there about this dark ride, in-print or on the internet! Thanks for watching and commenting

    That is not merely a "similar version" of the Willy Wonka "I've Got A Golden Ticket" song; they are one and the same. Despite being opened with the song in 1961 ten years before the theatrical release of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," the two are clearly related (it's no coincidence in my opinion) and there has to be SOME story behind the composer and licensing of the music for both the ride and the movie.

    Rode it this summer, it has a pretty nostalgic and trippy feel to it 😎
    But while many people complaining about the interior music, I think that the cuckoo waltz playing outside is much more annoying - I would not want to hear this all day, poor ride operators! 🙉

    This looks nice, although it looked like it was gonna be a knockoff of the popular Disney dark ride. Still interesting nonetheless! ^_^

    I mean I highly doubt the ride has used the same song for 50 years. No primitive music format would survive being played on a loop every single day for 5 decades.
